Comedy drama with Rachel Weisz, Leo Woodall and John Slattery.

I found it quite entertaining.

Has anyone else seen it?

I’m not embarrassed. She still looks stunning, just very different from how I remember her. You misunderstood my comment.

You responded she’s unrecognisable to a poster who commented on work she’d had done; there was no misinterpretation , pretending it was you can’t remember what she looked like is even more embarrassing for you.

jonnybriggswasgreat · 12/03/2026 08:54

Regardless of how beautiful RW is, her character isn’t meant to look like a mid to late 40s woman who has had very obvious cosmetic work done to her face that is never referenced.

Don’t be so ridiculous, her character in rhe series is supposed to look like the woman who plays her,

dotn be so bitchy,

I cant believe you are calling other women out for tearing women down whilst using the misogynistic term 'bitchy'. Its perfectly acceptable to say RW is beautiful and too beautiful to portray a middle aged woman who feels ignored, and to acknowledge she has had work done. How is that tearing another woman down? Your comments make absolutely no sense.

Nofksleft2give · 12/03/2026 09:22

Once again. I’m not embarrassed. Let’s leave it at that please.

PinkPomeloFruit · 13/03/2026 21:43

I enjoyed it. Trashy escapism!

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 14/03/2026 10:36

I've watched the last episode now, wtaf?!

limetrees32 · 14/03/2026 21:21

So did the two men die in the fire??

PinkPomeloFruit · 14/03/2026 22:23

I think that’s the whole point.

limetrees32 · 15/03/2026 13:52

You're probably right.
Unfortunately I can't think what point is being made .

Appalonia · 15/03/2026 14:22

That sex scene at the end was the most ridiculous, unrealistic thing ever. It lasted all of two minutes and she had an orgasm?? WTF? SO stoopid. That was NOT worth waiting for!

HRTQueen · 15/03/2026 21:44

It was a bit silly but easy to watch it’s certainly not worth five stars I would give it three

I think RW is beautiful but even beautiful women like RW who still is very attractive is still an older women and viewed differently in society so I don’t think she is too beautiful for the part and she is trying to stay relevant and just ends up looking sad

I thought RW and her creepy husband were the best characters

BretonStripe · 16/03/2026 18:39

Finished this yesterday, and like others, it took a while to get into. The breaking the fourth wall pieces were irritating and over done.

But I'm glad I continued though, once I'd settled into it and got used to the format and how silly it was, I really enjoyed it.

Agree Leo W plays the same character in everything he does, and Rachel W is absolutely stunning.

sickofsixseven · 17/03/2026 06:02

Just finished this. I enjoyed it but can't say I liked any of the characters. I thought Leo Woodall was hot in One Day but not in this for some reason.

Why are people saying Rachel Weisz is "unrecognisable" when she literally looks identical to the way she has always looked? Anyway, I saw a comment on reddit saying that she had been "digitally de-aged" in this, which makes sense because IMO she seemed to get younger looking as the series went on.

JuliettaCaeser · 17/03/2026 06:34

I enjoyed it kept me with it.

John Slattery was the best actor. Also boggled at Rachel Weiz. How on earth has she not aged? 55 year women just don’t look like that in real life. It’s so hard for women now the bar is just impossibly high.

In the book, RW’s character is struggling with ageing but that hasn’t been featured in the adaptation, that aspect of the book probably had to change as soon as RW was cast. Toni Collette would have been a more plausible casting choice.

ZenNudist · 17/03/2026 22:36

I just finished it and loved it. By the time she finished the unreliable narrator had completely taken over. I really like that kind of metafiction. It's a fairly worn trope but I don't mind it when a book comes crashing down, dismantled around us. Its interesting to see that done on screen.

I don't believe she ever saw John and Cynthia kiss. I reckon if I watched it back there'd be more unreliable narration that I missed.

You can think what you like about the ending. I haven't read the book. My interpretation was that there was no fire, that was how she ended her own book. It doesn't seem like she's bothered about either man. The looks on her face when she finally got Vlad to herself were priceless.

The only thing that disappointed me was that the beginning and the advert sort of promised to have her keep him prisoner but she let's him out as soon as he wakes up.

Delatron · 18/03/2026 08:55

Some really good points there @ZenNudist and makes me see it in a slightly different (more positive) light. I think I was getting hung up on smaller details that were grating.

Willow12345 · 18/03/2026 09:15

I also really enjoyed it.
Rachel Weisz and John Slattery are good actors.
I like something quirky, well acted and a bit different, and this fitted the bill perfectly.

AlexRidersButt · 19/03/2026 13:34

I thought they absolutely nailed the ending. It's was superb fun, and the unreliable narration was spot on.

Yes, RE is a stunning woman, but that worked for me because sometimes beautiful woman are terrified of being past their prime. My mum was horrified about aging because being gorgeous was part of her self image.

familyissues12345 · 07/04/2026 15:27

Binged it all this weekend. Had no idea it was Rachel Weiz!

BabyCat2020z · 08/04/2026 07:16

I enjoyed it, it was fun. It could have been done as a serious drama too and gone into more depth on characters, but as a comedy it was fun.

SpringAndSunshineIsHere · 08/04/2026 07:25

Nofksleft2give · 08/03/2026 14:25

He played a very similar role in the Bridget Jones sequel. And they even replicated the swimming pool scene.

Yep. He’s exactly the same in that.

NowInNovember · 04/05/2026 23:37

Leo Woodall is the image of Olly Murs. I really found it hard to take him seriously as an acclaimed author.
I enjoyed it more as it went on. I think John Slattery's court scenes with his daughter seeing the effect of his actions on the students was very well done. I like that it didn't let him off the hook.
I don't think anyone died in the end. She just realised that writing was more important to her than either man. She was seeing the selfish side of Vlad at the same time her daughter was seeing the selfish side of John Slattery's character. I thought the ending was clever.
