Comedy drama with Rachel Weisz, Leo Woodall and John Slattery.

I found it quite entertaining.

Has anyone else seen it?

Watched all episodes now, what’s everyone’s view on the ending. Am I right in thinking she just wanted an ending to her book. Also think Leo Woodhall is very hot, trying not to think he’s the same age as my Son.

He played a very similar role in the Bridget Jones sequel. And they even replicated the swimming pool scene.

HollyhockDays · 08/03/2026 14:43

literally turned it off after 10 seconds. I cannot stand arch / quirky stuff on tv.

Stowickthevast · 08/03/2026 19:15

I really enjoyed the last few episodes which cast more doubt on Vlad's character and on her and John's relationship. It's not going to win any prizes but was fun. I wonder what the book it's based on is like. Agree we could have done with a bit more on Cynthia & Vlad but I guess they're not really the point.

Watched three episodes and very much enjoying it, although I don't know if Rachel Weisz is suited to comedy. Leo is super hot (and did anyone else notice his hair is starting to thin a little on his left side?).

I like it too but I don't think he is attractive enough for the part whereas RW is too attractive (although I like her).

Delatron · 09/03/2026 14:01

Listening to it get slated on 5Live Must Watch - which I expected.

Much the same as we’ve said on here - RW is far too attractive for the role. Main characters are miscast. Hard to believe Leo is some literary genius.

Also zero chemistry. Book is supposed to be much better. Summary was that it was all a bit silly.

Shame as it had all the right ingredients with Sharon Horgan producing it, the cast, and based on a good book.

Yeah, hard to imagine RW as a desperate middle aged woman when she looks as gorgeous as a woman of any age. And the boy is very average-looking IMHO. I'd rather do John Slattery any day! 😅

Ha me too! I don’t get the Leo love but then I was really put off him (probably unfairly) after the role be played (very well tbf) in White Lotus. I can’t see him
as anything other than a sleezy, pissed Essex boy (either Essex or Cockney).

jonnybriggswasgreat · 09/03/2026 18:16

I've finished it and it was pretty good, but unmemorable. I can't see this winning any awards like Golden Globes or Emmys. I agree Rachel Weisz is too attractive to convince, and I thought her performance was mannered, most of the time. The middle stretch of episodes were quite dull and Leo was wasted.

Kelta · 09/03/2026 18:18

Two episodes in and I'm rapidly losing interest.

Bizarre casting.

Decisionsdecisions1 · 09/03/2026 19:05

I’m really enjoying it.

It might not be award winning - not everything can be - but compared to a LOT of other streaming content, it’s better written and has some good actors. I might read the book.

I don’t care if RW has had work or not (and find the obsessive ‘have they had work’ about female actors sexist) - she’s one of my fave actors. Loved her in Dead Ringers too.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 09/03/2026 23:57

Leo looks like JD Vance and once you see it you can't unsee it 😭.

Agreed. He is the strangest of heartthrobs. I’m pretty sure in RL rachel W wouldn’t look twice

I don't get the Leo love in this but I definitely got it in White Lotus.

Kelta · 11/03/2026 09:28

To be fair I don't get the Leo love full stop. He looks to me like he works down the market on a saturday selling fruit and veg.

Amyslp123 · 11/03/2026 19:16

So distracted by her face I cannot get through it

He does. I think that's the charm!

She’s unrecognisable. I’m put off by the pretence that she is playing an older woman who is past her prime. Clearly her appearance says otherwise. The show really objectifies Vladimir in a way that would be creepy if the roles were reversed…older man, young woman.

I really like John Slattery who is the only believable character, IMO.

What a bitchy little comment, miaow. She’s clearly had work done but she’s not unrecognisable. How embarassing for you.

Brightlittlecanary · 11/03/2026 21:53

I thought it was excellent, and find the bitchy comments pouring over Rachel’s appearance unacceptable, I honestly wish we’d get past this women attacking other women about their appearance

you don’t look better by dragging another woman down,

Delatron · 11/03/2026 22:28

I think she looks amazing and I said as much. Merely musing how one could look like that at 55. Impressive. She’s stunning.

The point is she looks way too gorgeous to be mooning over a very average-looking guy like him. It would be more believable if she was less beautiful and he more so.

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 11/03/2026 22:50

I'm totally distracted by RW's face and fillers. It's a bit boring tbh.

PrincessOfPreschool · 11/03/2026 23:14

@Faircastle@Faircastle
The last couple of episodes did become a bit silly, but I found it entertaining.

I watched half of the first episode and found it silly! The whole scene with the daughter, her girlfriend and the cake. It was so trying-to-be-funny/ clever but just not really succeeding and ended up over the top and silly. I had to stop watching it annoyed me so much! Was interested in this thread as I don't often stop watching things.

I don't think the comments are bitchy. I think most posts were saying RW is, and always has been, insanely beautiful. Her appearance in this was distracting because she seems to be aging in reverse and looks younger than she did 10 years ago.

I’m not embarrassed. She still looks stunning, just very different from how I remember her. You misunderstood my comment.

Newgirls · 12/03/2026 07:57

It’s meant to be silly and knowing. She’s meant to be perfect - looks great, successful writer, admired by all, great home, cool mum and she throws it all away. Not for him as such but more in reaction to being expected to be perfect. I thought it interesting and very watchable
