Broadchurch… worth it?

Sorry, it’s me again, I’m getting desperate! Trying to look for something that’s very easy to watch, but with a bit of bite to keep me watching, I’ve abandoned murder at the end of the world, and wondering whether Broadchurch is worth a look, an old one but a good one?? I’d be starting at series 1, I’ve never seen it before! Is it worth giving it a look?

I hard recommended Happy Valley yesterday to someone in the pub who hasn’t seen it and I was Jeolous they were going to watch it for the first time!

Looks like there are 24 eps to enjoy if I get into it!! It popped up on Netflix but I do remember people taking about it years ago!

Yes it’s good. We didn’t see it on bbc but Netflix so late to it.

Oh yes. Series 1 & 2 are brilliant. One of my favourite TV shows of recent years,. Series 3 is a bit less so but still worth watching.

First series was excellent. Couldn't watch the second. Not because of the show itself but it was such a hard watch and hit a real nerve (touched on a personal experience which was very close to the bone). Very emotional and the cast is superb.

Another huge yes for Broadchurch!!! I missed it first time round and so watched it recently. One of those series you just don’t want to end.

I know exactly what you mean, Happy Valley is one of the best things I've EVER watched.

However, I found Broadchurch to be a pedestrian, rather insipid series, with none of the brilliance, in terms of script, timing and acting... the fleeting expression on a face; the articulated words, but more, the words unsaid but conveyed, in HP, were totally lacking in BC, IMO. A pale comparison, for me, I'm afraid. But try it, it may suit you.

Another Sally Wainwright you may enjoy is Last Tango in Halifax. It is not gritty, like HP, and is a little lighthearted...but sweet and surprisingly moving in places...has Nicola Walker, Sarah Lancashire, Derek Jacobi and many more...But, it is a different vibe to HP/BC to be sure. Good luck!

Loved Broadchurch!!

Me and DH recently re-watched all three series again.

Olivia Coleman is just fab!

It’s not quite Happy Valley levels but it’s close and brilliant. We watched it recently for the first time.

I am not Welsh but the I also loved the following in addition to happy valley:

Hinterland
Hidden
Keeping Faith

I watched it recently. I always avoided it because I don’t like DT.
Its amazing though, I have to admit.

First season is brilliant. Didn’t really enjoy the later ones.

Bailed out after episode 2, didn’t care about any of the characters and found some of the acting wooden.

Sad times.
