As someone from the area, it's lovely to hear someone making a Bafta Best Actor speech in a Hull accent 😊

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2026 20:47

You would be over the moon to beat the likes of TC and Leonardo!
Cillian Murphy has such a sculptured face.
So unusual.

Raahh · 22/02/2026 20:47

I think this is what awards ceremonies should do- make people want to watch things. I hadn't heard of 'I swear' (and my dd1 is a huge cinema go-er)- but he made me want to see it.

CheeseWisely · 22/02/2026 20:47

Oh I’m SO pleased to Robert Amarayo. Can’t wait to see what he does next.

littlbrowndog · 22/02/2026 20:47

Aw he’s so lovely. Wayhe said that Ethan hawke influenced him

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/02/2026 20:48

Robert did well to go to Juilliard in the first place. Very selective.

I pay attention to this sort of thing and it passed me by as well.

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2026 20:50

Juilliard looks very difficult to get into.! He must be good.

Wicked Little Letters

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2026 20:52

Jessie Buckley was in a film with Gus from Breaking bad , which was really weird. It was out a few years ago. Can’t remember what it was called , it was a strange one.

What else would I have seen Jessie Buckley in?

Years ago she was in one of the Andrew Lloyd Webber search for a star things, for Nancy in 'Oliver' - 'I'd do Anything'

She came second I think.

I haven't really watched her in anything else.

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2026 20:54

Glenn close looks great.
I always get her and Meryl Streep mixed up though.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/02/2026 20:54

She was a lead in a series of Fargo. Ages ago she was on one of those Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical casting shows on BBC1 I think the Oliver one!
