This song wouldn’t be out of place at Eurovision !

According to Ds 2 , TC really wants an Oscar.
I’ve never seen him in anything !

I’ve just looked him up and apparently I’ve seen 3 films he’s been in but wouldn’t know him from a 5 bar gate!

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2026 19:46

I swear looks good. I like a gritty drama.

Housewife2010 · 22/02/2026 19:48

The obituaries are my favourite section. I hope they do it well and concentrate on the people they are honouring rather than the musical performance. I was very disappointed a couple of years ago when all the attention was on Hannah Waddingham singing and the obituary photos seemed an afterthought.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/02/2026 19:50

Nice to see a lot of diversity tonight

I wait for this as well. So many big losses this year.

It is.

I'm not sure why exactly, but there's something 'off' about the whole thing.

I think the audience noise may have been turned down for TV viewers due to some shouting in the background.

For me I hardly know any of the people getting an award so far so it's a little boring... lots of very famous people in the audience though!

Maybe the alcohol budget was reduced this year?

Yes, the presenters have been more famous than the winners thus far!

I think the BAFTAS is always a bit odd in that it's not got a clear purpose. You have awards like the Cesars in France or the Goya Awards in Spain which are about celebrating cinematic achievement in those countries. But because there's a lot of overlap between British cinema and Hollywood, the BAFTAs, with the exception of a few British specific awards, are just another stop in 'awards season' these days. And one which a lot of stars can't be bothered attending.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/02/2026 20:05

It’s better now, attendance wise, then it was when it was positioned after The Oscars date wise, because it’s viewed as a barometer of where the Oscar might go

My kids all love k-pop

Ebok1990 · 22/02/2026 20:07

I'm not sure why I'm watching as it's so awkward. It's making me feel on edge. 'Jokes' falling flat and awkward silences throughout.

littlbrowndog · 22/02/2026 20:07

Hamnet got an award yay

musicalfrog · 22/02/2026 20:07

Finally here 😅

There were a LOT of British films up for that award. I've only seen one of them 🤦🏻‍♀️

musicalfrog · 22/02/2026 20:08

That suit makes AC look slightly ghoulish. Not sure that's his colour!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/02/2026 20:09

Val Kilmer Sad

Too much of Jessie Ware gurning for me. It's not what it's about.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/02/2026 20:12

Stop focusing on the singer! Singer should be background

OP posts:
littlbrowndog · 22/02/2026 20:12

That is emoting bigly

Housewife2010 · 22/02/2026 20:14

They spoiled the obituaries section yet again.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/02/2026 20:14

Diane Keaton, Gene Hackman, Catherine O’Hara, Robert Redford and Robert Duvall in the same year. Jesus.

OP posts:
Raahh · 22/02/2026 20:16

Yes- when did they stop just playing an appropriate piece of music over the pictures?

When did it become a day out for Jeff Goldblum to play the piano? or to focus on a 'named' singer?

It's really annoying.

littlbrowndog · 22/02/2026 20:17

One battle looks good
