Will we all be here in 4 years…?

If there is curling on I will be here.

Silver is a great achievement and they all seem like lovely blokes and sports people. Undoubtedly they're gutted right now, but hopefully they'll bounce (glide?) back.

They also got silver last time, (and Bruce came 4th in the mixed with Jen Dodds, in 2022, and this year ) so it's the second time Bruce has missed out - and the team will feel this this.

In the figure skating costume , the unlikely winner of the men's competition, is dressed as Kung Fu Panda. I think.

I like the Swiss team jackets, but those white sleeves and the hem will get grubby quickly.

Rhubarbandcustardd · 21/02/2026 21:22

Gosh the bronze winners are really happy!

i think our guys really need to realise two days ago they weee nearly on plane home and they have silver medals!!!!!

SwedishEdith · 21/02/2026 21:22

The Swiss team look happy about their bronzes because they've had a day to get over any disappointment. Weren't they the favourites to win?

Great to be the team spare and still get a medal.

ChippySauce · 21/02/2026 21:23

Oh Grant and Hammy crying 💔

Rhubarbandcustardd · 21/02/2026 21:24

Boo!!!!!

mdinbc · 21/02/2026 21:26

Woo hoo Canada! It was a great match all round, congrats to GB on silver.
It was very exiting to watch, and I'm glad to have DH to explain all the strategy to me.

I know it’s a completely different sport but Scotty James really wanted Gold in the Half Pipe. He was clearly really gutted but he quickly reflected back and recognised he needed to absorb the event and celebrate his silver.

It’s incredibly hard just after a loss but as a team they are really solid and hopefully they will celebrate their achievement. As a pp said the6 are young enough to try again in 2030.

I think real gut punch,is that this is where they finished 4 yeas ago. Second. Yes, a medal is great- but they are world champions Bruce is the world number 1 ranked player - of course they went in , wanting to win.

The skating gala is about to be shown on BBC2.

Raahh · 21/02/2026 21:42

Alysa Liu in the Gala- she really wanted the chance to perform there.

The sound quality is absolutely dreadful .

She looks great- and really happy. I think she had been waiting for the outfit to arrive .Brilliant.

I think the BBC are literally going to show the very last bits .

Is this the Winter Olympics version of Strictly's Blackpool? 😁

Raahh · 21/02/2026 21:45

Coldplay get in on EVERTHING don't they?

Looks like BBC1 are showing repeats of the Gala that started earlier.

Did they show the Spanish pair? they were actually fun. Most of them were a bit too earnest, For a gala- imo.

This Alysa performance was lovely though .

I think BBC are probably restricted to only 2 live streams (so have to take what is being shown) or highlights.

Thats what happens when the IOC flog broadcasting rights to WarnerBros and the BBC gets the scraps.

With respect, I think it is comparable as Scotty James also won silver last time and bronze the games before. He is also ranked No 1 in the world and a multiple X games champion.

I know

RafaistheKingofClay · 21/02/2026 22:10

She does skate beautifully.

I do think they have struggled with the two streams because they aren’t used to it. And there has been a lot of filler where perhaps 20 years ago when they last had 1 or 2 streams there would have been sports.

I think we had a full 40mins of filler in the run up to the curling.

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 21/02/2026 23:44

I watched the figure skating gala this evening and thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part. It was nice to see the men have the opportunity to be more artistic rather than shoehorning in jumps. I think Ilia Malinin has proved he is artistic with his performance. It was very appropriate to who he is and he clearly connected with the music.

and then shortly after, a headbanging, jumping panda with Deadpool and the actual Jackie Chan.

Fever dream.

Igneococcus · 22/02/2026 08:11

I missed the gala entirely. My sister called and by the time I got back to the screen live coverage had finished and I can't find it in iPlayer.
Are they not showing the bobsleigh and the women's 50 km cross country live today? I thought they were starting at 9am Italian time.

13goingon31 · 22/02/2026 09:07

Does anyone know if the gala is on iPlayer?

FuzzyPuffling · 22/02/2026 09:20

I'm cheering on the bobsleigh team.
Do the three blokes in the back do anything but run fast and then hide? Does the driver yell " left a bit" at them?
