I'm so glad the next one is in Nice as I think it'll be very similar to this and in our time zone again. I always hate it when big events end and feel a bit lost for a few days.

It's interesting that two, essentially, American athletes are choosing to perform under their non-American flag. It's not like they wouldn't have not got through as too much competition from other Americans - or is that the reason? Or is it to do with funding?

Gu has an American father and a Chinese mother, started competing for the US but switched to China in 2019.

She and another athlete have shared $14 million of funding from Beijing over the last 3 years.
