I agree about some of the things she uses. I am sure bought pastry is fine but I make it in fairly large quantities and freeze it. Grated cheese is more expensive and it hardly takes long to grate cheese does it? Also you can grate a block and freeze it.

She also is always recommending tinned potatoes but I think they are horrible. They have a strange taste

YYY!

Bought pastry has a lot of ingredients listed on the packet some of which I am fairly certain are trans fats and emulsifiers.

I make my own too; it’s very easy in the food processor.

I am fairly certain that grated cheese has something nasty in it too to stop it clumping.

I so agree about tinned potatoes which absorb a funny flavour from the tin lining I think.

However, the ones in glass jars (if you can find them) are fine imho for chucking in a “roasting tin” dinner. Mind you, I don’t know why you wouldn’t just use small new pots in their skins tbh!

I couldn't be bothered to strip down the sausages to make them into meatballs. Why not make a sausage whatever it was or just chop up the sausages. I don't like many sausages so it would be a waste on me.
What on earth does Joe put on his face, I was very distracted by the colour. In one shot you could see where the orange finished infront of his ears, looked like a mask.

Awful fake tan and hair dye job

Some people take it all sooooo seriously, with macros and proteins, cutting and bulking, low-carbing and maxxing. Expensive, too!

Life's too short to argue over a piece of salmon and some couscous.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/03/2026 16:22

Will be interesting why they need help

The lamb mint bake looks nice - love lamb

I may try making this …….

We watched it on catch-up and spent most of the programme wondering how much the house cost Grin. Nice guys, lovely dogs, terrible food.

How much would that lamb cost, @Blondeshavemorefun, do you reckon? (Sorry I seem obsessed with money this morning!)

FishPie2 · 24/03/2026 09:11

Have a look at Easter supermarket lamb offers, they usually reduce them then.
.... just had a look and yes they have, Asda for e.g. Leg £7 kg half price. £15.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/03/2026 10:43

I think Aldi do lamb steaks 4 for £6

OP posts:
FishPie2 · 24/03/2026 12:05

Nothing about lamb steaks on Aldi but this was there - ALDI LAUNCHES CHEAPEST SUPERMARKET LAMB THIS EASTER

  • Shoppers can pick up a delicious whole leg of lamb for just £6.19 per kg from 30th March
  • Aldi is selling the cheapest Easter veggies including potatoes, carrots and parsnips with prices starting from as little as 15p
  • That means those after the ultimate Easter roast can bag all they need for just £2.01 per head
Aldi will officially be selling the UK’s cheapest Whole Leg of Lamb this Easter, available in stores from 30th March.
TheAutumnCrow · 24/03/2026 13:19

Thanks - I’ll get DP on it. He wants lamb as part of his new not-a-diet-it’s-a-lifestyle-plan.

I might help him do something Greek/Turkish/Lebanese. He’s very keen in the kitchen, unlike most of the Batch participants!

You don't need a kindle, you can put the kindle app on your phone/laptop/tablet.

Hello! New to this thread and programme but loved Eat Well for Less so hoped it might be similar.

Only watched one so far (the fitness mad guys) and not sure … when they did the various flavours of chicken breast in bags to freeze, really how much longer would that take to just chuck together of an evening? Not sure how much time was saved.

They seem to use a lot of processed sauces or pastes. I guess they lend themselves well to batching as you can use a whole jar on a go as often you use them once they they languish in your fridge.

Joes teeth are really distracting 😳

Love the building Cook Lady has her test kitchen in.

So far not loving them as much as Chris and Jordan (actually may have a teeny crush on Chris) on EEFL but shall watch some more and see.

E6 Tonight

EMMA and MATT’s hectic schedules mixed with two energetic kids with a recipe for meal time mayhem

can they turn the chaotic convenience into beautiful batching?
