Looking for a cosy crime series for 12 year old dd. She enjoyed Shakespeare and Hathaway, watched Thursday Murder club on Netflix and would like to watch something similar. Any ideas have Sky, Netflix and Prime. Would prefer no sex or too much swearing😉

The Marlow Murder club. It's on All4 though not Netflix or prime.
It's about three middle aged women who solve murders.
Or Murder in Paradise. It's on BBC though not those steaming services.

My 10 and 12 year olds loved Ludwig. It's on BBC iPlayer.

purpleme12 · 18/02/2026 13:53

Also likes what's probably classed as cosy crime
We watch
The Good Ship Murder
Return to Paradise
Beyond Paradise
Death Valley

Poirot with David Suchet is on Netflix

Would she enjoy Miss Marple or would the historical aspect not be interesting for her? I used to love the characters.

There’s a Hallmark Crime series about a baker, Hannah Swensen, Murder She Baked. There’s a few of them, all different names eg peach cobbler mystery. Very cosy vibes!

shiverm · 18/02/2026 14:06

I used to watch father brown with my parents while eating tea, it was a cute shared moment

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 18/02/2026 14:13

Maybe not for 12, but in a year or two's time when your daughter is a bit older, how about Jonathan Creek? I only say not for now as you've made a point of saying no sex and whilst there's no actual sex, that I can remember, there is a small amount of groping in a couple of episodes which might not be to your taste! The stories are good though, especially the earlier ones with Caroline Quentin in them.

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 18/02/2026 14:19

Some that we enjoy watching that haven't been mentioned yet - The Moonflower /Magpie Murders (based on books by Anthony Horowitz), The Marlow Murder Club, Madame Blanc Mysteries, or, if you want to go proper old school, Murder She Wrote, Hart to Hart or Rosemary & Thyme!

Tonissister · 18/02/2026 14:20

Madame Blanc is the cosiest crime ever. It's sunny, fun and occasionally has teenagers in it too.

And Beyond Paradise. Very cosy, very pretty, set in Devon (but filmed in Cornwall.)

DS used to watch Murder She Wrote with me at that age when I was recovering from an illness and tied to the sofa. He quite enjoyed it.

Starlight1979 · 18/02/2026 14:20

I haven't watched it yet but I keep hearing really good things about Only Murders in the Building.

Tonissister · 18/02/2026 14:21

Magpie Murders is a good shout.

Tonissister · 18/02/2026 14:22

There's also The Good Ship Murder - set on a cruise ship. Very cosy crime.

AlphabetBird · 18/02/2026 14:24

The Residence on Netflix is fabulous, we watched it with DS12 and he loved it. It’s a great mystery, excellent cast and really fun story. Not at all gory!

TellMeWhatToWear · 18/02/2026 14:27

Murdoch Mysteries.

This is fab but probably not suitable for. I can’t remember if there’s any actual sex, but lots of relationship stuff and talk about it. I’m also fairly sure that it includes lots of swearing.

BeRedHedgehog · 18/02/2026 14:37

The Seven Dials (Agatha Christie) fairly new on Netflix and is really good.

justtheotheronemrswembley · 18/02/2026 15:10

Columbo.

BluePartyShoes · 18/02/2026 16:25

Wow thanks for all the replies, I havent heard of some of these, we did look at a preview for seven dials on netflix and thought it looked good.
I dont mind a few sex references but not sure we're ready for full on sex scenes🤣
Lots to watch now thank you

Hudson & Rex on Prime. About a police detective and his canine partner, set in Canada

Joystir59 · 18/02/2026 17:20

The Chelsea Detective on ch4 (I think) is very good and ultimately gentle. Character led
