Looking for a cosy crime series for 12 year old dd. She enjoyed Shakespeare and Hathaway, watched Thursday Murder club on Netflix and would like to watch something similar. Any ideas have Sky, Netflix and Prime. Would prefer no sex or too much swearing😉

ITV - Mistletoe Murders.

It's based on an Audible Drama series about an owner of a Christmas Shop in a small Canadian Town.

Whitstable Pearl or Harry Wild might fit the bill.

My daughter ha loved Poirot (and generally all Agatha Christie adaptations) since she was around 11 or 12. She also likes a bit of Jonathan Creek a d the BBC version of Sherlock.

We have been watching Only Murders in the Building with DD'a 12&14 both really enjoy it. Dp & I had watched the first three seasons before hand so had screened it. There is lots of swearing though (which I'm not bothered about DC are in high school so will head worse day to day), there's talk of sex but not full on sex scenes. We have also watched a good girls guide to murder - Dd2 has read all of the books anyway. Keeping an eye on this thread to decide what to watch next. Ludwig is on the list.

I have watched all of Sherlock and remember parts of it being quite scary/creepy, much more so than Only Murders.

Oh, another one that we've enjoyed, a lot, is Elementary - starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu - probably better for a couple of year's time, but others on here may not have watched it. It has humour and good, gripping stories. Same goes for Lucifer - again, probably not for a 12-year-old, but some others on here may not have seen it and it has a lot of humour....

Yeah, don’t think Elementary is suitable for a 12 year old. It is good though.

My DD (11) is obsessed with murder mysteries and together we have watched most of those recommended on this thread. She is currently enjoying watching hr back catalogue of Midsommer murders! She loves them! We’ve a rough week and together we have binge watched lots of them!

David Suchet’s Poirot was my favourite TV show at that age.

HawthornFairy · 19/02/2026 21:27

Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes. Loved it at that age.

Agatha Raisin - brilliant if you can find it

HenriettaTriceratops · 19/02/2026 22:10

Second Agatha Raisin. Also Endeavour.
