Well, we soared through the last thread again, so here's a shiny new one!

Corrie is pretty much based around the tragic death of Billy at the moment. Bernie is starting to lose the plot a bit, and ended up in a hotel room with a strange man who is the husband of someone Roy has been chatting to. (It's all a bit confusing!!!) Then she ended up unconcious in the ladies toilets!

Todd and Theo are still together - annoyingly - and Carl (Debbie's brother) has just heard Theo blabbing to Billy in his coffin how he's not a murderer, and he should have saved him, and so on. A guilty conscience, or self pity? (I'm guessing the latter.) Carl was listening (conveniently!) and smirked when he heard Theo 'confessing,' but I'm not sure what he's going to do with the information. Especially as shortly after, Theo saw Carl doing some dodgy dealing with some blokes, and he photographed him. So, they now have 'something' on each other!

Not much happening with the Driscolls at the moment, and Ma Driscoll and Eva have called a truce. But for how long???

Shona and David's new little baby (Harper) is still a bit fragile.

Shiny faced Megan Trainer the Siren who has men (and boys) eating out of her hand, is showing an unpleasant, dark side, after practically threatening Sam (Nick's son) if he blabs anything about her and Will.

And Carla and Lisa have inexplicably made up, as if nothing has happened. On the plus side however, at least we have got rid of the dreadful Undead Becky storyline.

Probably some more bits and bobs to discuss, but I'm sure we'll get to them soon.

Ha! Now there would be a turnip for the books. It would make sense, with the pushing of the Steve and Ben characters together.

That scene where Megan Trainer was threatening Sam was farcical. Enough already.

What I recall of Jim McDonald from way back , he is a bit like Ben isn’t he. I kept wondering who he reminded me of..plus they were pushing the Irish connections too.

I found the ‘ slow up ‘ or ‘slow down ‘ chat funny.
My late mil used to say slow up ( she was from Plymouth originally though! ) I always say down.
Regional differences I suppose , but ‘slow up ‘ doesn’t make sense to me. Not that it matters, as long as people do slow down. Lol

Next week Ben will start saying stuff like

"I'll tell you this and I'll tell you more, Stephen, so I will"

She had already foiled his scheme, the faked scene was quite funny but she would have been better playing it cool - a sly smirk the next time she saw him would have sufficed but they have her behaving like a panto villain

Sadly I think that storyline is going to run and run for a few more weeks. It almost makes me want to switch off. In any case unlike some of the adult nasties, how realistic is it? I get that teachers do groom kids (which is blatantly what Megan has done with Will) but to keep threatening Sam the way it has been written doesn't seem plausible to me.
As for Theo and Todd - this storyline needs wrapping up soon too!

I think this theory might be spot on - didn’t Jim have the same Northern Irish accent as Ben? And didn’t Ben say his mother has a southern Irish accent because she originally lived in the South but moved to Northern Ireland?

Poor old Debbie has now been hit by the sweaty look. And Carl still manipulating her. At least they are good actors.

Are they trying to make Brian into a combination of Ken and Norris? He has become intolerable. As is Mal.

It was obvious that Megan would notice the camera, it was sitting on a shelf in full view!

And Ma Driscoll sneering at everyone in sight.

I know they like a coincidence but Jim as Ben's dad would be too much. But there must be a reason she is snarling at the friendship between Ben and Steve.

Horrible episode all round.

Peter Gunn is a good actor and had been in loads of stuff before doing Corrie. I recall seeing him in Hannah Montana the movie. Brian was a good character when he showed up as a sidekick to John Stape but he has just descended into a buffoon and part of a dreadful comic duo with Mary

When I watch repeats of Father Ted, Mrs Doyle is so funny but as Ma Driscoll, it doesn’t work with the actress. Wasn’t she also in EE? I don’t want it, what was she like in it?

God, I'd forgotten she was in EE. Nick Cotton's missus, or ex, I can't be entirely sure. Bit of a nasty piece of work, but not quite as scheming as Ma Driscoll. Not a subtle personality, or performance.

So Ben and Steve could turn out to be half brothers. Sounds plausible. Who was that in the scene near the end of someone in a shop in the dark taking a book? We only saw the legs. Was it Sam. ?

I assume it was Hope taking Brian's precious book

Yes think you are definitely onto something re Ben and Steve .. pushing them together , so much in common , Mrs D looking livid about it for no reason and Steve bringing up his Irish roots . It all fits because only in Corrie could you move to a small backstreet in Manchester and become friends with someone who coincidentally is your brother .

I only found out today that Megan Trainor is a singer . Did NOT know this and thought Megan Trainer the baddie was just Megan Trainer because of all the PE etc.
