Well, we soared through the last thread again, so here's a shiny new one!

Corrie is pretty much based around the tragic death of Billy at the moment. Bernie is starting to lose the plot a bit, and ended up in a hotel room with a strange man who is the husband of someone Roy has been chatting to. (It's all a bit confusing!!!) Then she ended up unconcious in the ladies toilets!

Todd and Theo are still together - annoyingly - and Carl (Debbie's brother) has just heard Theo blabbing to Billy in his coffin how he's not a murderer, and he should have saved him, and so on. A guilty conscience, or self pity? (I'm guessing the latter.) Carl was listening (conveniently!) and smirked when he heard Theo 'confessing,' but I'm not sure what he's going to do with the information. Especially as shortly after, Theo saw Carl doing some dodgy dealing with some blokes, and he photographed him. So, they now have 'something' on each other!

Not much happening with the Driscolls at the moment, and Ma Driscoll and Eva have called a truce. But for how long???

Shona and David's new little baby (Harper) is still a bit fragile.

Shiny faced Megan Trainer the Siren who has men (and boys) eating out of her hand, is showing an unpleasant, dark side, after practically threatening Sam (Nick's son) if he blabs anything about her and Will.

And Carla and Lisa have inexplicably made up, as if nothing has happened. On the plus side however, at least we have got rid of the dreadful Undead Becky storyline.

Probably some more bits and bobs to discuss, but I'm sure we'll get to them soon. Smile

Also referred to as a "J Arthur" as I remember. 🫣

It's been around for as long as I can remember, so 20 minutes - sorry, 50+ years. In my experience it tends/ed to be used by younger (just preteen) boys / teenagers as a silly saying to giggle at.

that is about the mentality of the Corrie script writers

the80sweregreat · 11/02/2026 10:56

I guess it was just a lighthearted moment there.
The funeral parlour man seems a laugh , that’s when he isn’t involved with his best mates funeral that is

eggandonion · 11/02/2026 11:25

As double entendres go it wasn't great. I had no idea that it was one.

AmusedMaker · 11/02/2026 11:46

Mal is clearly going to tell Dev he & Bernie had a night of wild sex.

LesserSpottedCharacter · 11/02/2026 12:28

I rolled my eyes hard at the ham shank thing. I thought, hoped, we'd got past the pathetic oo er Mrs shite.

Anyway, is Roy's really the sort of place to be doing ham shanks? It's more the sort of thing you'd be charged a bloody fortune for in the Bistro because it had to be slow cooked on sun dried (isn't it all) grass that had been cut by fairies with golden scissors. And did I hear mention of stew? I thought Roy's was more a soup or fried stuff type of place. Hot pot would be from the pub.

Was Jodie spiking Shona's drinks?

Was Todd hiding money in the tin in the cupboard? Theo is going to find it as soon as he's back.

eggandonion · 11/02/2026 12:34

Todd is setting up a running away fund. He needs to get his ducks in a row. He needs to ltb.
Roy needs to take a good long look at his cafe. It needs smartened up. All day breakfast. Sourdough. Avocado. Roasted vegetables. Goldmine.

the80sweregreat · 11/02/2026 12:35

Oh yes, ham shanks in an expensive bistro pub wouid be with ‘hand mashed potatoes ‘ sat on a jus with some very green vegetables and maybe one carrot. For about 20 odd pounds a pop. Not Roys rolls where they usually have barm cakes and a side order of a runny tummy given how grubby it is. I hope he checked the shanks were properly cooked up.

the80sweregreat · 11/02/2026 12:45

I read a fictional book where the lady stashed her running away fund in a bag of frozen peas at the back of the freezer for a while where her useless / horrible Dh wouldn’t find it because he never cooked anything or went near a freezer. Todd needs to find a better place or ask his employer to hold on to it ( make up something!) That tin is a bad idea
👎

eggandonion · 11/02/2026 12:46

All day breakfast and an artisan roll...home cooked ham and an artisan roll...artisan cheese and chefs special chutney in an artisan roll. Same stuff but double the price. At least.
Nobody seems to worry about spending money eating out.

bizzey · 11/02/2026 12:48

Agree , Todd needs to keep that tin hidden at the undertakers .
He could always pretend it was for a surprise present if George or Christina found it ..or something.

How long has Theo been away for now ?

AmusedMaker · 11/02/2026 13:11

I can’t believe Todd would be silly enough to put his stash somewhere so easily found?

Shellingbynight · 11/02/2026 13:12

Todd needs a better hiding place than that. He also needs to request a new a debit card. Theo has been gone a week now.

@Fbfbfvfvv I am feeling the same as you about Corrie. I stopped watching for about six months last year and then started again, but I am losing patience now. The plots are all just so annoying.

Why is Jodie visiting the dad she hates (and dressing up for it)? The whole thing is bizarre. If she hadn’t visited him, Shona could never have found him.

And Shona going out on the piss rather than visiting her baby is ludicrous.

Mal is clearly a weird obsessive stalker who is not going to leave Bernie alone (with a side order of fleecing Roy for his electrics).

LesserSpottedCharacter · 11/02/2026 13:28

A premature and very sickly baby was in NICU. The father came in on the Monday and said, loudly and laughingly, that the mother had to throw away all her milk for a few days because she was so pissed at the weekend. They both thought it hilarious. The baby had no visitors from the Thursday until the Monday, when they came back to crow about their drunkenness. There are people like that. Sadly.

the80sweregreat · 11/02/2026 13:34

Why hasn’t Todd ordered a new debit card , maybe to his branch ? ( not sure if you can do this, but it might be available for him as an option ?)
He needs to tell someone , anyone, what’s going on, they could help with cards , hiding money and new cards ( having it delivered to them maybe ) or just anything sensible. He needs to think outside the box, a bit , not hide a tin away with Theo will find it ;(

zanahoria · 11/02/2026 13:42

At least we are being spared more bloody hospital scenes.

Usually we would have the whole family camped there for months.

We certainly had a lot of scenes of Lauren staring at Frankie

Shellingbynight · 11/02/2026 13:46

I suppose he hasn't ordered a new card because Theo would see money leaving the account and he has reverted to thinking he has to obey Theo. Y'know, the Theo who went off for a week and left him £10.

So Todd thinks if he pays for things with cash, Theo won't know. But of course he will, because George will blab, and anyway Theo would want to know where Todd's wages had gone.

eggandonion · 11/02/2026 13:51

Did Theo set up a joint account? Would both people need to go to a branch to do that?
Poor Harper. It looks like talented Dr Harper was just passing through.

HaddyAbrams · 11/02/2026 13:54

I thought Tommy Tank was rhyming slang for wank. Maybe its changed over time.

Whatever it is, I reckon that is what Mal is doing all day. He has been there a week and just informed Roy he would be there a lot longer.

And Roy just accepts it. In the real world, if a spark told you that the complete rewire you had done just before COVID was shot and announced he be around a lot longer, with a strange look in his eyes, you say “Hold up weird Mal, let me get a few quotes first”.

the80sweregreat · 11/02/2026 15:15

Has Roy had a quote ? Gone round with Mal looking at what needs doing ( and nodding wisely , even if you haven’t much a clue) Asked about floorboards and fuses and switches? No, he is trusting him because he sounds as if he knows what he is doing. 🙄

Andepeda · 11/02/2026 15:32

Perhaps Roy felt obliged due to the goings on with Mal's missus, who might not exist.

the80sweregreat · 11/02/2026 15:35

True. Roy felt about Alice.

bizzey · 11/02/2026 16:37

Has Harper had her operation yet ?
Or does she have to get bigger and stronger ,?

Uncomfortable thing is ..as I am sure all us mums would agree..

Even leaving our new borns out of site enough to go to the toilet was painful in our hearts enough...

How the hell could she go off and get pissed !

She hasn't been drinking for months..the first 2 drinks would have made her spew !
