I'm have just finished episode 2. Absolutely loved it. Mark was always my favourite back then but as an adult looking back ......Jason orange phwoooooar. Beautiful man.

PuppyMonkey · 27/01/2026 22:09

The big twist should be they announce he’s coming back. For good.

I’ve been watching it. I’d forgotten how absolutely despicable Robbie was towards Gary and the band, after he went solo. Such an arrogant twat. We know now that he was a drug addled alcoholic for much of that time, but it doesn’t excuse it.

PuppyMonkey · 28/01/2026 18:34

He was awful and the clips they showed of comedians taking the piss out of Gary, absolutely jaw-dropping.

Take That appeared on the scene when I was at uni so will def watch this!

Figgygal · 28/01/2026 21:03

Can't wait to see them in June
Do feel though between the original 2005 reunion documentary and others since there's nothing new in this doc but still looking forward to it

I always thought Jason the least attractive, but yes, looking back, he was very, very handsome.

Think he aged worse than the others

AutumnAllTheWay · 28/01/2026 21:24

Really great doc.

I didnt get it exactly how much Robbie did the dirty on them all until I watched this.

BooksandCats123 · 28/01/2026 21:31

I binged it, I can’t be alone in this but I had a pretty grim childhood/teenage years and those guys really did get me through some of the worst times of my life.
I can not wait until June… Neveeeer Forget where you’re coming from. I’ve even brought myself a TT Tshirt.
Also agree, they are all beautiful people and Mark Owen has always come across as the sweetest man alive. But as they’ve aged Jason Orange is a god of a man, just gorgeous.

firstofallimadelight · 28/01/2026 21:55

I watched it, so much footage they didn’t even need interviews! It was interesting Robbie and Gary sounded hard work. Mark sounded lovely

Shivvy1 · 28/01/2026 23:37

I thought Gary come across as a bit of a twat tbh, especially in the first 2 episodes.

nopiesleftinthisvehicle · 29/01/2026 00:01

Another one here just binged on all 3 eps. Such nostalgia.

I was slightly too old to be their core following, but oh! To go back to 1990 again 🥹

ohfourfoxache · 29/01/2026 00:32

Ep1 I just wanted to give them all a massive hug, they really were just babies when they started out 😱

Like a pp, I had forgotten what an utter arsehole Rob had been. And, knowing what we know now, it was sadly not a surprise to see Walliams and Lucas sticking the boot in 😡

Icouldwriteabookonmydisastrouslife · 29/01/2026 00:47

This was done really well , I enjoyed it . A lot of these things I get bored after the first episode , I watched all 3 together . Mark Owen reminds me of Louis Tomlinson from 1D . If only we could go back to the days of queuing up for tickets instead of this new age system of them screwing us for as much money as they can and all the bots buying all the tickets fo the resale sites.

PuppyMonkey · 29/01/2026 07:34

Yes, they were so young at the start of the group, Robbie looks about 12. I got a bit teary when Mark talked about how upset he was when Robbie left as they’d been so close. Sad

Edited

Not only that but to later learn that Angels, (the hit that made him breakout as a solo artiste) was stolen from an Irish songwriter he was hanging around with at the time.
It's a great documentary - and yes, Jason Orange is a god. I think he lives in the Cotswolds now. What's great about him in the documentary is to learn how principled he is. I liked learning that he stood up to Nigel, obviously thought about a lot of things (not just a pretty face which he was believed to be), was drawn to the Lake District and the Cotswolds (clearly a man of nature), tried things and knew when to stop (his acting stint). I also liked the way he encouraged the others to get the band back together before quitting. He championed the closure.

Overall, I enjoyed getting to hear what Mark, Howard and Jason had to say. It was always Gary and Robbie for so long.

I was always a Robbie fan over the years, but I'm not anymore. I think he's gotten away with his fake bravado for so long and it's the theft of 'Angels' that annoys me the most. He's also morphing into a Morrissey lookalike.

BooksandCats123 · 29/01/2026 10:21

I’m listening to Gary’s autobiography on audible at the moment and he said that during the progress tour 2011 Robbie did 30 minutes of his solo stuff before they all joined on the stage together. He said Robbie stopped the band twice when he was up there alone and said to a woman in the crowd.. What’s with the face, if Gary Barlow can forgive me then so can you.
He has always been completely self obsessed and I guess you probably need to be to make it as big as he has.

GellerYeller · 29/01/2026 21:55

I didn’t learn as much new information as I’d hoped but interesting to see Gary admit: he was too busy in his leader role to take account of the others’ feelings. He was conditioned from the start to believe it was ‘his’ band: the vehicle for his songs. And that he reached peak pop star cliché in that mansion. In his autobiography he said he had a butler!
Robbie, realising he was ‘just a backing dancer’ too. They were so young.
I’d forgotten the look of genuine fear on his face when he thought Gary was presenting his award and it turned out to be Lucas and Walliams.

It’s a great watch.

Pigriver · 29/01/2026 22:05

I loved TT as an early teen and the adoration had waned a bit by the time they split. It was great to see the early footage and how the old songs were immediately known to me again.
All the Jason and Robbie stuff passed me by and my god it was vicious! The media at the time was just horrific.
It was good to hear Gary taking responsibility for his ego back then and heartbreaking how Howard and Jason were always sidelined. Loved the footage of 13 year old Gary performing in social clubs dressed like a middle aged man 🤣
I always thought Robbie was a cocky arrogant shit. My views have not changed! I'd love to see them in concert but probably not as a 3. By hey, make hay while the sun shines, they probably have another 10 years before us middle aged ladies and our arthritic hips can't manage screaming in stadiums anymore.

Vodkamartini3olives · 30/01/2026 04:00

Wow. I loved every minute of that. Jason was always my favorite.

Middlemarch123 · 30/01/2026 10:50

I saw them as a 3 a few years ago. They were fantastic. At a football stadium. They arrived around the stage in the middle of the pitch. We were near the front, and then the lights went down, and the music started, and Marc Owen popped up on a platform next to us. He has the kindest, most beautiful eyes, and was grinning from ear to ear, then the spotlight beamed on him, and he looked at us few near his little podium and said, “sorry if I made you jump”. I think he’s a lovely person.

Gary was note perfect, 30k fans and you could hear a pin drop when he sang A Million Love Songs.

I loved them back in the early days. Robbie had his demons, they should have had support and nurturing.

creamcheeseandlox · 30/01/2026 18:21

I was a hard core Robbie fan...loved the tits off of him. But looking back JASON phwore what a handsome man 😍 And a girl at my school had loved Howard since day one....they have all aged like fine wines.

PuppyMonkey · 30/01/2026 18:33

I’m loving all the Jason Orange appreciation. Grin

@Pigriver , do go and see them. They are awesome as a three and put on the most amazing show. I cannot wait to see them in Circus 2 in June.
