Am I the only one who doesn't find Taskmaster funny?

I've tried to like it but honestly it's just telly for 10 year old boys.

Why would you try to like it? If you don't like it, no need to watch it! Dd loves it. I've watched bits. It's funny, but some contestants are pretty annoying and I soon got a bit bored with it as it's very samey.

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 16/01/2026 23:01

Yes. Yes, you are.

Out of interest what do you find funny?

BobbyBrewstersMagicTorch · 16/01/2026 23:01

Because others in my household like to watch it. I'm quite capable of not watching it, that wasn't what I asked.

RenoDakota · 16/01/2026 23:02

I find it juvenile too.

BobbyBrewstersMagicTorch · 16/01/2026 23:02

Generally many of the comedians who appear on it. But it's just puerile.

I have friends who think it's brilliant, and I just don't get it at all. I'm glad it's not just me.

Americano75 · 16/01/2026 23:13

It's never appealed to me, and I love Greg Davies.

CheeseWisely · 16/01/2026 23:14

DH and I love it and look forward to each new series, but we’d probably hate some stuff you like to watch. Mrs Browns Boys keeps winning awards so obviously some people enjoy it, but I’d rather pluck my eyes out with spoons that watch it. Each to their own surely?

Pinknotpurple · 16/01/2026 23:15

The kids version is better, can't be bothered with the one for grown ups

EatingHealthy · 16/01/2026 23:19

I don't like Greg Davies, think it would be better without him but I can ignore that because really he's a pretty small part of it (and easy enough to fast forward through his monologues).

Otherwise it's very dependant on the contestants, some series have been brilliant (the best in my opinion is the series with Bridget Christie) some are not worth watching. I think it's past its best now. They're running short on good contestants and now it's mostly second rate comedians. It's gone from there being a minority of contestants who weren't worth watching to a minority who are worth watching. To a lesser extent it's also affected by the quality of the tasks, which imo has also been worse in the last couple of series.

Zov · 16/01/2026 23:19

Yep, it leaves me cold too. So does 'have I got news for you,' '8 out of 10 cats does countdown, and 'would I lie to you' and similar shows. I did used to enjoy the last leg, but it's painfully far left now. (I'm not right wing but not left either, and their leftieness and wokery annoys me and makes me roll my eyes....)

Zov · 16/01/2026 23:20

I also cannot watch anything with Romesh Rabganathan on it, as I can't STAND him. Irksome, tedious, unfunny, smug, conceited bore.

!

murasaki · 16/01/2026 23:22

I like that there's always a couple I haven't heard of, like, and then look up and love their work, e.g. Sam Campbell.

It's not gone off the boil for me yet.

ChocoChocoLatte · 16/01/2026 23:24

Yes. It’s very good, except Greg’s stupid as intros

BobbyBrewstersMagicTorch · 16/01/2026 23:52

I really enjoy WILTY and also comedians like Phil Wang, Sam Campbell, Bill Bailey etc. But it just seems so not funny to me.

Try some of the earlier seasons. The comedians were better.

ChaChaChaChanges · 16/01/2026 23:57

I still miss Mock The Week.

Thesuperlativesistillloveyou · 17/01/2026 00:13

Thank you op
Watched once ..pile of crap

It's coming back on 1st Feb on TLC!

Definitely agree with this! It really really does depend on the line up. The earlier series were much funnier.

I feel like it's quantity over quality now, the tasks just aren't as good which also doesn't help.

FictionalCharacter · 17/01/2026 01:50

Can’t stand it and neither can DH. I find it puerile and nasty.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 17/01/2026 03:33

No, it’s not just you. I find it to be nowhere near as funny as the people on it seem to think it is.

falalalalalalalallama · 17/01/2026 03:45

I really enjoy it. It's off beat, silly fun.

Like a OP said though, I don't like a lot of what's on TV. Repetitive, predictive drivel.

And don't get me started on mainstream films. I'm so fed up with watching whole films which are basically just a build up to two men having a fight (and guess what, the good guy wins, against all odds. Again. 🙄). Or any other film that is utterly predictable / formulaic. What a waste of my time.

How nasty? I couldn't see that all

Shedmistress · 17/01/2026 06:12

It was excellent, but took a nosedive after lockdown. I've not been able to watch it since.
