Welcome to Thread 9 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far <spoiler warning if you haven’t seen the start of episode 9>

I still think Mathew and Rachel are brother and sister. I just got vibes when I saw her reaction when Stephen talked about recruiting him to throw him under the bus.

I will bet my entire fortune that they aee not. There are no more relationships, I think.

Sorry to those who don’t like the secret relationship theories but I just can’t unsee it since that confessional. Little looks they give each other and the fact neither of them ever throw heat at each other. I’m fully prepared to be wrong though.

I think the other half of the parchment reveals Roxy's relationship to Judy.
When Roxy gets banished, she will allow the other murdered contestant to open the letter.

I think if Jessie and James knew each other in RL before the show, then at least one of them would have mentioned it in the diary room when Jessie was murdered.

If this is so why did they tell us about the Ellie Ross connection straight after Ross was banished? I’m confused. 🫤

FourNaanJeremy · 17/01/2026 10:02

I hope they all feel like absolute idiots when they realise Jessie and Harriet were bang on the money and they were completely dismissed without a second thought.

Harriet to be fair did blow her own game up BUT that happening straight after Fiona’s carry on should have turned everyone’s attention to Rachel. Instead, they just blindly trust her for no apparent reason other than they like her.

But Jessie spelled out her suspicions about Stephen quite clearly for weeks on end and compiled multiple things to support her theory - the closest you can probably get to ‘evidence’ in this game.

I do think her age and accent have played a part in people just not taking her seriously. I have a similar accent and as a younger woman, I often felt underestimated - like people assumed I was much less intelligent than I was, especially at university and when I moved down south. I was rooting for Jessie to win, I think she deserved it.

Pushmepullu · 17/01/2026 10:05

I wouldn’t be surprised if Roxy ends up winning. Not because she’s good at the game but because she’s not on the radar that much. It would really piss me off though. A bit like when Meryl won in Series 1. To me, her contribution was to run around screaming and come up with rubbish.

HK04 · 17/01/2026 10:05

Might it be that all the murders need to be in plain sight? Easy really for Traitors to send a letter and job done?

What a boring episode. I always hate the dinner. I just don’t care!!!

I always find the dinner a bit excruciating, not just the sob stories but the fact that they all come together to "relax and enjoy each other's company" when in reality they're all just trapped together in a deliberately orchestrated social experiment and have no choice but to get along when forced into such a confined space.

I never notice what people are wearing (apart from Stephen's eye-popping outfits!) and don't really understand the fuss over those Play School cardigans. Although since Jade's father is HSBC's former head of currency trading, I think we now know how she can afford them!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 17/01/2026 10:06

EchoedSilence · 16/01/2026 20:55

She's hoodwinked them all to respect and like her, so, yes. I think she's a brilliant traitor.

Jesus...Fangirl much, Echoed?

Alpacajigsaw · 17/01/2026 00:26

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again

Matt and Roxy are as thick as shit the only difference is Matt thinks he’s intelligent.

Most of them are pretty dense. Why on earth have Rachel and Steven gone off the radar?

Christ, poor Jade :( what an awful thing to have happened to her mum and sibling

Matt has an incredible memory - he can recall how everyone voted at each roundtable, and who nominated who in the box trial in the last episode as well as who had shields. He has occasionally used this, but I hink he knows the risks of seeming to have too much knowledge and so being branded a traitor (which is hapening a bit).
He is a real danger to the Traitors, they need to get rid of him.
(Then I'm not sure there is anyone who might have a scooby left in the Faithful, TBH).

CharlotteRumpling · 17/01/2026 10:10

The more I read about Jade, the more I think she has had a very hard life, and should not have been on the show.

Don’t Matthew and Rachel have different accents? I thought M was Scottish and Rachel Irish?

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 17/01/2026 10:14

I don't care if there are secret relationships but none of the others have been a secret to the viewers so why would there be any new ones to come out of the woodwork? It's only interesting if we know from the start, otherwise, who cares?!

Beachtastic · 17/01/2026 10:14

SeanutBrittleOnToastedCoral · 17/01/2026 09:25

sorry I know this wasn’t for me!

But…

There’s no incentive for faithfuls to keep in other faithfuls. Or traitors to keep traitors. They all want more money.

It makes the first half of the game pointless as nobody really cares who they banish as long as it’s not them. Means there’s no strategy. It becomes too stupid (like the lady who didn’t toast because she didn’t have a hand and was then banished).

New rule: Banish someone from your side and the prize money goes down.

Or no splitting prize money three ways, everyone gets the same subtotal, and BBC have to pay out extra if 3 people make it to the end.

Edited

I wonder if they use AI to plan plot twists! My head would explode trying to work out what's a good structure for this sort of game 🤯

Bouledeneige · 17/01/2026 10:16

I don’t think Matty is very bright unless he’s scared to show his thinking as he’s waiting for his traitor invitation which isn’t coming whilst Rachel and Stephen are a pair. (Which shows he’s not bright - he thinks he has a deal with the traitors!). I do hope Roxy doesn’t win - she’s so annoying. Has she ever been right about any of her votes or accusations ? Matty?

HK04 · 17/01/2026 10:17

Be good if the ousted faithfuls could come back as ghosts for a challenge to cause mischief without fully giving the game away.

If what is so? Potential Jessie and James connection?

I actually don't think they are in any way connected which is why I said either James or Jessie would have told us in the diary room when she was eliminated.

Having read about her I agree. A tough life I’d say.

cariadlet · 17/01/2026 10:27

I really don't want Roxy to win because she was suspicious of James and anyone with half a brain can see what a terrible traitor he would be.

James and Faraaz haven't done anything to deserve to win but are both very sweet and I would be happy if they did win.

Some of the Faithfuls who have been voted out weren't particularly good at the game but I really like them as people and would have been happy for them to have won on that basis eg Ross and Reece.

The bright ones who would have deserved to win have gone. Harriet and Jessie had good theories. It's a shame that Harriet blew it with her outbursts. We didn't see enough of Maz but I think he would have been good.

I started off disliking Rachel and Stephen but have warmed to them and want them to win. They're a good team and are playing the game very well.

I love James and quite like Jack. How come no-one ever nominates Roxy?

I think it’s because whatever people think of her, she has no “sides”. I’m stumped as to why anyone would think she’s a traitor. But then I know she’s a faithful.

We were told about the Judy/Roxy relationship when Judy was banished. So if anyone else was in some sort of relationship and one half had gone we would know. Which leaves the players in there - I don't think there are any more, but Rachel/Matty is a remote possibility as siblings. I don't buy it, though.

I think Roxy would go flipping mad if anyone suspected/voted for her. She's a bit Leanne and I think they want the easy life.

Wow. And that is over 7yrs ago. So about the same time her mum and half sibling were found dead in HK (👀). That’s a Lot, for a late teen to deal with. Poor girl. Agreed.

Despite the tragic backstory I hope Jade doesn’t end up winning any money. The sheer arrogance to feel that you should never ever be challenged on a programme called Traitors doesn’t sit with me. She’s haughty and aggressive and has added nothing to the programme or the game (if the editing can be believed).

Rachel deserves to win. I’m not a fan but no one can deny she’s played an absolute blinder.

Yes. I must admit I never like the dinner party round with all the dead nan stories.

Yes Jade lost her mother at 18 and it naturally has had a massive effect on her. Stephen and Matt both grew up gay in wee free communities, James plainly has grown up with ADHD in a home with very little, Roxy had an awful start through her young life until she was adopted at six. All of these are factors which leave a major mark on young lives.

Others are struggling with fertility, watching parents disappear before their eyes, dealing with addictions or facing other losses. Don’t assume either that if someone has not told a dead nan story they don’t have one and most don’t have the advantages of Jade’s wealthy background for support.

The screening is supposed to ensure that anyone who is unlikely to manage the pressure does not participate. We have to assume that those in the game are up for the pressure.

Its a game. The prize is to the person who successfully completes the game, not the person with the most heart wrenching backstory.

Jade’s contribution to the game is negligible still and her petulance when nominated as a traitor is exactly why it became a credible accusation.

Everyone has been accused of being a traitor at some point, Jade is the only one who takes it as a personal insult and has a tantrum responding with a tit for tat accusation. She is still doing this at the most recent round table. Its childish and would annoy me from gamers who actually contribute in other ways.

Rachel deserves to win - she has grasped the game and worked with it better than any other and I’d like to see her go all the way, preferably with Stephen. The pressure on traitors in the game is even higher than on faithfuls.

I can see Rachel and Matthew being a possibility: has he ever even considered her or accused her?
