I haven't seen his little mantrum does he mean the public vote or the judges dance off vote? Has he clarified?

Mantrum 😂

He is just the loveliest man, I usually watch it later on iplayer.

I watched this last night, I just collapsed into ugly crying when he was dedicating a dance to his little Lyra and he had marked out the constelation for his dance steps 😭

Izzyharrison · 19/12/2025 08:35

Love to see where he got his proof from.

MrsMoastyToasty · 19/12/2025 08:55

I think that they need to "rest" the show for a few years. (It's what they did with Question of Sport. They don't say they'll never make a new series, but just don't make any new episodes until the time feels right).
I'm fed up with the couples choice usually being some kind of street dance.
I'd also like to see dances from other eras like the gavotte, polka or lindy hop. Or regional/International dances like Highland dancing or flamenco.
Even so I want George to win as he's a local guy.

He is by far my favourite professional dancer on the show. Always a great partner, head and shoulders above the other men in the pro routines, and a charmingly goofy personality full of laughter. He’s a delight and Janette is VERY lucky!

I've loved him ever since he danced with Abbey Clancy and the VT was him having Sunday lunch at her family's house, and he rolled up his sleeves and did the washing up.
He's a class act.
I loved him with LV too; it brought out a drier side of his humour that really made me laugh.

PrincessScarlett · 19/12/2025 09:01

I doubt he has any proof. His timing right before the final is purely to put yet another negative spin on the show and give himself publicity. The only way he can have proof is if he has spoken to someone on the show responsible for the voting and recorded them saying it's all a fix. Very very unlikely.

Tom was/is hugely unpopular and I don't know anyone that voted for him. I do think he would have been very problematic for Strictly if he had stayed on the show any longer than one week so can see why Strictly would want rid of him BUT he just didn't have the fan base so there was no need to fix the voting.

Strictly need to be really careful in the future with who they book for the show.

I was getting fed up with contempowaft! I've been glad that they've given that a rest this year.
I hated George's CC for the 'yoof' though; shit song (that he didn't even know Hmm ) and rubbish moves that, if they were being judged properly, would have got about 3s.
I think it's difficult. Those kinds of CCs are a waste of space, but in a similar vein you get things like Bill Bailey's, which was a joy. And I do like it when someone gets to showcase a different kind of dance, like Balvinder, or Punam Krishan, or someone doing a full-on Fosse-style jazz thing like Faye Tozer.

I can’t believe the voting’s rigged. This is surely just the biggest case of sour grapes on Tom’s part. He was pretty rubbish at the tasks in the Apprentice iirc; how he’d be capable of sniffing out, let alone proving this, I can’t imagine.

Of course the voting isnt rigged. They wouldn't have to bother with the "got to get X to Blackpool" push every year if they could just fix it. They would keep in the 'biggest' names even if they are rubbish if it was fixed. This is just a massive plateful of sour grapes from a bloke who couldn't dance and wasn't popular with the voting public.

I don't think George has any life experience outside of you tube tbh. He doesn't know much about anything, My dds are around his age and definitely no the inbetweeners which that dance was based i don't know how he didn't know it.

It just reads like he is embarrassed he went on it, I mean he could have said no.

It was the K-pop thing he didn't know. The Inbetweeners was a charleston.

Coffeeishot · 19/12/2025 09:30

Ah right sorry ,

The production team have a tendancy to treat anyone under 30 as if they are 11 and throw kid stuff at them. George has seen slightly bemused by a few of the themeing choices they have chucked his way.

TennisWithDeborah · 19/12/2025 10:23

I think that if there were vote rigging, an independent journalist would have exposed it by now. It would be a significant scoop.

This man is just peevish because no one wanted him to stay. He’s hoping to rile up the gammonry against SCD. It may work, it may not. 🤷‍♀️

The show has its faults but like everyone else on here, I really don’t believe that the vote is rigged.

I do think that some changes are needed and that C and T’s departures may be the right time to refresh SCD.

At the beginning I had the impression he’d agreed to do it for a laugh and really wasn’t putting his all into it. He was by semi final time but too little too late as far as I’m concerned. Still think he’ll win though.

Buscobel · 19/12/2025 11:46

I think it’s been a poor series for a number of reasons.

Two people injured before the start, with a rush to find replacements.
The lack of understanding that Tom Skinner would not be a good fit for Strictly. I wonder if he would have been replaced had there not been so many replacements already.
The number of ringers and bad feeling about them.

I know they revamped the voting this year, making it all online, but they need to refine that to prevent people who have no real interest in Strictly from playing the system.

They need to look at the composition of the contestants. People like Hannah Fry, the other George Clark, Grace Dent, who are very familiar faces, but of appeal to a wide audience.

I do agree though, that some of them might not want to be associated with the programme after the last couple of years.

KimberleyClark · 19/12/2025 11:54

They always pick English rugby players, there hasn’t been a Welsh one since Gavin Henson 15 years ago! What about Dan Biggar, James Hook, Alun Wyn Jones, George North, Shane Williams?

xsquared · 19/12/2025 12:06

The number of ringers and bad feeling about them.

To be fair, Amber and Lewis were only invited as replacements. Both had far less time to rehearse than the original contestants, who had 6 weeks. They would not have been able to get an absolute beginner to where they needed to be for the start.

Nikita was right when he said without Amber, he wouldn't be there and the show wouldn't be as good as it is, however unpopular that opinion is.

Contestants of their calibre and experience have always been on Strictly, and it's never been a level playing field.

the80sweregreat · 19/12/2025 12:13

I thought that Vernon’s tribute to Tess on radio 2 today was lovely.

I think they probably appeal to a specific audience to be fair, and people would still go "who are they " and i think Grace Dent would rather poke her eye out than go on Strictly 😀

Tablefor4 · 19/12/2025 13:08

Do you think Tom's been inspired by Trump's law suit against the BBC?

Rigged voting would have been exposed by now as ITV's was.

There do need to be some people with advance dance experience to make the show appealing.

gingercat02 · 19/12/2025 13:15

Grace would have an excellent Tango/Paso face but agree there is no way she would do it!

Who knows. Maybe though it would get him in the same orbit as trump.

His CC wasn't the Inbetweeners one, it was some other 'hip-hop' guff that was so poor I can't even remember it to describe it.
The Inbetweeners one was a Charleston.
But my point was I think the producers thought he and/or his voting demographic would know the K-Pop Demon Hunters thing.
