I liked Doomsville and loved the fact the campmates didn’t let it get them down. I wonder if the campmates in Win City will look back and wonder why they were more miserable than their deprived neighbours.

I don’t think the producers can push someone as being evil/awful like they used to - the backlash could be too much. But also they had no ‘bad’ argumentative characters like Kim Woodburn or Lady C in - maybe they are deviating away from those kind of contestants?

I liked how it sort of mirrored life. Some of the happiest people live very simple lives. Whereas some people i know with everything are never happy. Always chasing the next 'best' thing or fashion.

Agreed. Found it very interesting.

Kiosk Kev went to dinner with all of them! They said on Unpacked it would be shown on the coming out episode

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/12/2025 10:15

The coming out is usually better

bur yes a lot seems to be hidden /not shown /edited

for example the contraband

the spot salt going into cooking

but not a huge pillow under someone’s head

tho I thought they could take one luxury item or has that stopped

a pillow with photos printed on it is a good thing

I can’t believe that Ruby lives in some kind of yoga commune in a remote part of Scotland. That never got mentioned at all. I’m sure she still has her ten million pad in Notting Hill but she takes her meditation seriously. There was so much more conversation we could have had from them like George Michael one of Martins best friends. So close that he left Roman and Harley millions. I’d love to know how gorgeous he was

TitsInAbsentia · 07/12/2025 10:21

I thought that @whynotwhatknot was trying to fill up the thread so we have a new one for the final 😂

I have noticed literally nobody mentions Alex when they come out - it’s like she ceased to exist once she left

I'd forgotten she was in there. I was thinking Alex who? 🤣

The interviews have made it seem like a few things didn't make the edit, like Lisa mentioning Ginge dobbing her in for keeping one of the pillows from the tree house and Jack saying everyone thought he had an anger management problem at the beginning... For people to have mentioned those things in interviews, people must have talked about them but we didn't see any of it. Those feel like things they would have included in the edit in the past. It just feels odd that they'd leverage so much fake tension in the clips like pretending Lisa has left (when she came back as Santa) and implying Jack was really upset about the trial (when he was joking) when there were real incidents that could have been shown. Maybe the celebrities will tell us more about it later when they've had a chance to see what was broadcast.

I wonder if ITV have made a decision to appear more ethical. Have they been criticised about something to do with this show? Has the ripple effect of all the controversy on strictly and love island affected all reality shows and we all have to be nice and caring to each other now, just in case? I'm just interested about how we ended up here with the most boring series ever.

Last year they engineered some minor controversy with the "will they find out that the second camp aren't living in poverty" stuff. The Doomsville bit didn't really work as well this time.

It really feels like its run its course. I also feel its been boring this year so theyre almost having to produce the equivalent of click bait to draw people in. Ive found it so dull ive only half watched. One of those "ive started so ill finish"

They get too much food, too many treats, and there hasn't been anyone who was wet at the trials so no lack of stars making them hungry and rowing. Its more interesting viewing when its not nicey nicey.

It needs a really big revamp, even a new location. Cyclone is far too predictable and rigged there's no way they did that in 10 minutes as they kept dropping the stars

It all feels too manufactured. Even stuff like the contraband feels scripted

The trials, bar probably Jack's water one, have been really tame. Why dont they do the coffin with a gazillion rats anymore. I cringe watching the drinking trial but thats probably the hardest one due to having to drink multiple things, but this year they've only had to do one each

It almost feels "dumbed down"

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/12/2025 10:40

What they should do for the cyclone is see who can do the fastest time

so all climb get their stars on their picture - then obv water to flush them all down , to then all in up again and get into place

be interesting how long actually takes

Aitch was my pick for winner, shocked that he never made the final.
I'm not keen on ginge, and Shona is very dull? I thought she'd be one of the first out. I'll watch it back tonight if Tom wins, I won't bother though if it's either of the other two.

Glad im not the only one not seeing why Shona is so popular, I also find her really dull, and have a heart of stone so dont give a stuff about romances, fake or otherwise

Wonder if all the soap fans are supporting her?

I think we are supposed to care about her journey. I couldn't care less about their supposed journeys. I just want to be entertained. I haven't found Shona very entertaining.

JaneJeffer · 07/12/2025 10:52

They said on Unpacked that because they had a camp meeting every day they were able to air any grievances so that’s why things didn’t develop into rows. Thanks a lot Jack Angry

Lisa said that they had conversations about all sorts of deep and meaningful things but that they weren’t shown.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/12/2025 10:56

Shane we didn’t see the camp meeting

I wouldn't be at all opposed to them binning cyclone completely, and doing an obstacle course like Vogue did. You could maybe have it so theres different sections that rely on different qualities, e.g. an intellect section which someone like Ruby could have done (i am cynical and did wonder whether they would need her "out the way" so cyclone could run as normal)

There's also no jeopardy e.g. you know anyone who doesnt get their letter will get it in the next day or 2. They will never fail cyclone etc

Also, it's been around so long people know how to play the game. If they dont care about winning, e.g. Martin probably falls into that category, they just go in for the experience and are happy to be in the background. You then have people like Danny, possibly Shona this year, who know how to stand out. People like Ginge and Aitch, who outside their circles are perhaps less well known, so want to be noticed. People like Martin and Ruby have already had hugely successful careers so are more there for the fun of it

I think for me the meh factor of this year has been exemplified by the fact we have just had celebrity traitors. Of this lot, I probably knew 20% of them, whereas with the traitors, there was only about 20% of them i didnt know. Plus theres more levels of intrigue with traitors

I didnt realise quite how long im a celebrity has been going, no wonder it feels far too samey. Hence why a big shake up is needed.

Probably as well, im a celebrity is a popularity contest, its not necessarily who deserves to win, its those with the biggest following, whereas generally shows like celebrity SAS are who most deserves it (and getting through that you seriously deserve it id die nearly instantly) and Traitors is generally who's played it best, although you do sometimes get someone getting lucky who's been a sheep the whole way through

It's a bit like the apprentice since they changed from them working for him, of course hes going to pick the one who will make him the most money, provided they're not completely useless

I will say A&D have been much better this year, no picking a "joke" theme and doing it every episode. Some of those shirts though 😨

I do like they no longer perve over the women when they're showering

Spot on i have no heart and so don't care about journeys (also didn't someone on here say Shona isn't such a wallflower as she looks here? Although I could understand her maybe being a bit shyer around the really well known ones)

Tom (who i thought id hate from his preview clip) and Ginge have entertained me, so id rather they won, I also enjoyed Ruby and Jack

Spot on. I think it needs a revamp. It’s a bit samey now - which of course it would be after 25 years. Can’t believe it has been on that long! I remember when it was advertised as a new programme I hated the title and thought it would flop 🙈 Ant and Dec recently said on their Instagram live that they hated the title too and wanted to change it but obviously now are glad they didn’t. They also spoke how initially it was sold to them as a more documentary type programme with celebs left in the jungle to survive.

Hard to care when you can't decipher what her 'journey' has actually been 🤷‍♀️😂 I don't think shes contributed a single thing, its bizarre. Her singing is pretty awful too, that yodelling thing was just strange. I don't watch Eastenders, so maybe her character is popular ❔️
And there's as much chance of a romance between her and Aitch as there is between Ruby and Aitch!

EchoedSilence · 07/12/2025 11:12

The yodelling made me cringe. She seems nice enough but not final material.

I don’t think her singing is bad but she isn’t going to set the charts alight any time soon. Is she still in EE? Wonder what she will do next.
Aitch and Ginge will have gained new fans
Ruby and Martin will continue as they did before the show
Lisa is on Emmerdale
Tom will probably get more opportunities out of the show
Eddie - can’t see it making a massive difference to his life
Alex - as per Eddie
Vogue will maybe get more adverts?

But Shona I am not sure

Who have I missed?

eta just googled - Shona left EE spring 2024
