Christmas is close, 🎄 we've had minus temperatures for a wee while, and the darker days and sunset by 4pm is with us.

Let Undead Becky continue to bore and annoy us! Let nasty Theo continue to infuriate us! Let the potential child grooming storylines shock us! Let Carl Chuckle Brother continue to shag anything with a pulse! (And hopefully dump Abi!) AND let's get ready for Christmaaaaaaaaaas!!!!!! 🎅❄🎄

Is anyone else sick of hearing

"It's on the house!"

Three bloody times tonight

zanahoria · 22/12/2025 21:52

Housewife2010 · 22/12/2025 20:46

Please can they take Eva's dreadful daughter with them.

The precocious child thing is so overdone in soaps and so bloody tedious. Does anybody ever find it amusing or endearing?

Yes! It never happens (to me anyway) in real life. How these business are still up and running when they appear to give half the drinks away, I'll never know.

zanahoria · 22/12/2025 21:56

Try the dead mum trick

Gingercar · 22/12/2025 22:06

I’m looking forward to seeing the wedding. I think it was filmed at the hotel just by our house.

JohnBullshit · 22/12/2025 22:52

I thought Debbie and Carl had the same dad. Having Debbie turn out to be Carl's mother would be a twist too far, don't we think? Or am I addled by pre-Christmas Bailey's?

mumofoneAloneandwell · 22/12/2025 23:01

Hard agree, Debbie is his real mum

eggandonion · 23/12/2025 08:03

Poor Debbie. Forgetting to pass on the message is so upsetting for her.

Shellingbynight · 23/12/2025 08:17

@JohnBullshit Debbie and Carl (and Kevin) do have the same dad, Bill Webster. Carl has a different mum.

As I said upthread, Carl's backstory is that Elaine left Bill for another man when Carl was 8, taking Carl with her. Why would Elaine take a child that she was not even related to?

They could post-rationalise it that Elaine was not his mother, but it would be very clunky.

zanahoria · 23/12/2025 08:50

I wish they would realise how good Debbie is.

It was daft giving her dementia and she does not a rubbish soap cliché back story revision.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 23/12/2025 08:56

I’ve missed how Costello got injured ?

I'm fed up of Eva’s trilly laugh. Just shut up . I was also fed up of Maggie going on about tips. Irritating

Deadringer · 23/12/2025 09:02

Oooh good call whoever first suggested that Carl is Debbie's son, I am convinced you are right. Maybe Carl will abandon his plan to steal her money and settle down in wetherfield instead.

Housewife2010 · 23/12/2025 09:05

I agree regarding Debbie. I wasn't keen on her when she returned, but she is such an excellent actress. She is so moving with the dementia storyline, but I'd rather she hadn't had it and she would stay with the programme long term. Sally is also excellent and a fully rounded character. Please send the Eva family and her daft laugh away and concentrate on the great characters like Debbie, Sally, George & poor lovely Todd.

Shellingbynight · 23/12/2025 09:16

You just reminded me about Sally, she was great last night, she has been really good in the group women scenes lately which feel a lot more like old style Corrie. I thought Christina was very good too with her facial expressions, she is fitting in well.

I am finding it really hard to watch Ma Driscoll though. She is just so unpleasant. And she is so nosy she is more or less guaranteed to be the one who discovers Megan and Will. Megan needs to make sure she isn't standing at the top of the stairs at that moment...

timetogetlost · 23/12/2025 09:26

Agree. Sally, Bernie, Chrissy, Debbie, Carla, all great.
Maggie very 2 dimensional. Don't like her scenes.
I'm not sure Debbie did forget to pass on a message. She considered it many times.

AmusedMaker · 23/12/2025 10:03

Sally is a great character.
Hyacinth Bucket with quite a bit of Rose underneath. love Glenda, Abi, & Christina too.
Not sure why, but never really liked Bernie.
Carla’s voice is extremely irritating so just shut down during her scenes.
Ma Driscoll. What the hell is going on there. She’s terrible.

Yes really don’t like her

phantomofthepopera · 23/12/2025 10:20

Can anyone remember the Eva termination story? Didn’t she invent a pregnancy in cahoots with Adam to try and trick Aiden who was having an affair with Maria?

Why was she so upset by it last night?

NebulousSadTimes · 23/12/2025 10:58

zanahoria · 22/12/2025 21:52

I was thinking that the wee girl's lines last night were like something the auld wifies of old would have said. They really don't work coming out of such a young child's mouth.

I wasn't watching when Eva was in it before so I don't remember any of what went on back then.

I didn't see the point of the pregnancy class and the caricature another Mary teacher.

Shellingbynight · 23/12/2025 11:00

The Eva and Adam scenes were quite confusing. It was not clear whose baby she terminated. If it was Adam's, what business is it of Ben's anyway and why is she crying about it now? If it was Ben's, why did she discuss it with Adam? It was all seriously odd.

Housewife2010 · 23/12/2025 11:00

The hen do was great last night. So many brilliant strong female characters in the Coronation Street tradition. I hope they make more of Glenda - ideally I'd have her as landlady rather than the irritating family.
The birth tutor's demonstrations were ridiculous.

I was very confused too. Eva needs to get her foundation colour matched too.

That scene completely threw me. Unless its some made up daft shit like when Toyah, who couldn't have children, had a baby as a teen and buried it in the park under a rose bush, or something.

Its just a mechanism to push Adam and Eva together, whispering to each other.

Shellingbynight · 22/12/2025 19:25

Was that AI, @SabreIsMyFave ? Because Adam's mother is Susan Barlow not Ma Driscoll. It probably meant Ma D is Ben's mother.

I find AI quite often gets soap stuff wrong, it scrapes the wrong sources.

Yes it was from AI, sorry. Blush I said it was Google, which it was, but I didn't realise I had copied from A.I. Much of it was right, but sorry about that, it was just a quick way of explaining. Why the F did it say Adam's mother is Ma Driscoll? FGS! 😂 I'll be thinking twice before using AI again!
