Christmas is close, 🎄 we've had minus temperatures for a wee while, and the darker days and sunset by 4pm is with us.

Let Undead Becky continue to bore and annoy us! Let nasty Theo continue to infuriate us! Let the potential child grooming storylines shock us! Let Carl Chuckle Brother continue to shag anything with a pulse! (And hopefully dump Abi!) AND let's get ready for Christmaaaaaaaaaas!!!!!! 🎅❄🎄

Except Carla is 50 and Kit is 31!

Except Carla is 50 and Kit is 31!

That has never worried her before and it would suit her more than being a lesbian. She has had loads of younger men including Ali who I think may be her nephew, definitely her best mate's son and Daniel who is Peter's nephew. I think she may have had a go on Adam too.

and if she did want him dead, then why not just kill him rather than have him beaten up, taken to hospital then have to sneak in and find a random syringe.

Along with all her other flaws, she is a terrible planner

Becky had a go at 'Soap' for bungling the killing.

Another storyline where I zone out 🥱 what the hell she sees in the gawkiest grumpiest childish teenager is beyond me. The way he walked off after having that spat with Liam with the bad haircut (considering his mum is a hairdresser) in those too long baggy trousers was laughable! Would love Carla to get with Kit they’d make an awesome couple just saying 😁

Sad face Liam's hair is not as bad as Will's. He has one of those haircuts only teenagers have, when Meghan was saying he was a man not a boy all I could think was that he has a boy's haircut.

She must have some sort of death wish, taking the family's money to train him and a job at Will's school, does she want to get caught?

Ta, I missed that bit

AmusedMaker · 04/12/2025 08:18

Really bored with DeeDee now. She was great at the start ( like Mary ) but has turned into an inconsequential bore ( like Mary )

Andepeda · 04/12/2025 08:22

I find I don't miss as much now I watch it away from DH. It's rather good at the moment, even if I don't understand the Costello/Becky stuff at all.

Strangely, although I now watch it in another room, DH still has it on despite telling me how much he hates it. Confused

AmusedMaker · 04/12/2025 08:25

A pp mentioned the importance of having happy, fulfilled, single females in the cast and not constantly pairing every one up.
I agree. But it seems like they’re using Mary as the odd, slightly weird. ‘spinster of the village’ and any ‘normal’ woman under the age of 70 must want a man.

Shellingbynight · 04/12/2025 08:32

Will is absolutely charmless. I suppose Megan likes having power over him. (If anyone watched Emmerdale back in the day, Megan looks similar to Joe’s groomer who was also shagging his dad. Joe had been on the series for years and was a nice lad, good actor, so we cared about him.)

Becky wants Costello dead because he keeps telling her to get back to Spain and she wants to stay with Swain. They don’t need much of a reason to wield staplers on Corrie nowadays.

DeeDee was such a good character before she was ruined by the Joel plot. But they’ve wrung her out now.

Is the Becky/Liam hairstyle a Thing we don't know about?

eggandonion · 04/12/2025 08:32

If they don't want a man they might suddenly want a woman. I hope Glenda avoids a random lesbian storyline. While Kit would be ok for a one night stand with Carla she needs Peter. Surely he would want to at least visit Ken at Christmas . And Leanne would like a week in the sun wherever R Si is.

and I think Daniel is going to be getting Sinead's cardi out from the wardrobe

It's funny that you should say this @zanahoria when I saw the blonde 'older woman' that Will is 'seeing,' (when she wasn't with Will,) I saw her from the side, and I thought she was the 'escort' that Daniel used to hire to wear Sinead's cardi! 😬

Well she was supposed to be a high flying lawyer in LA before she found her family in a back street in Weatherfield and decided to stay with them, working from a small office in the same street.
I have never taken to this character who I suspect will soon be forgotten about, just like her mother (I have forgotten her name) who mysteriously disappeared

Funnily enough, I liked DeeDee when she first came into Corrie, she seemed like a ray of sunshine. But it didn't take long for her to become a bit annoying. She became deeply involved in Paul's life (when he started to get MND symptoms,) and whenever he was onscreen, she was always there just popping up like Undead Becky. Always in his business. Her mother (Aggie, the nurse, who did an appalling Manchester accent, was always in someone's business too,, maybe it's hereditary!!! ) Oddly enough, when Paul got really bad - towards the end - DeeDee was nowhere to be seen.

The Joel involvement and that storyline was OK, but I think it's time for the character to go now. I don't think she brings much to the show, and she always looks fed up (to me.) She always seems dressed like she's going to a wedding too. Always overdressed IMO.

Deedee's insanely jealous of James looking after her daughter, the one she didn't want. I think she'll leave soon, with the baby.

Shellingbynight · 04/12/2025 11:58

The one thing I do still like about DeeDee is the way she dresses - it's very DeeDee! It sometimes looks like they spend half the costume budget on her. It's like Carla, they both have a very strong sense of style.

Glenda though... lately she is very overdone, even for Glenda!

SabreIsMyFave · 04/12/2025 12:24

I agree about Glenda @Shellingbynight

Edited

Daniel will get round to it soon, first he has to take her out and bore on about books he has read and she has no interest in, then he has to guilt trip her into unpaid babysitting by telling her how much poor mummyless Bertie adores her, then we get Sinead on the laptop and finally the cardi comes out

Middlemarch123 · 04/12/2025 12:39

I can’t make head nor tail of the Becky stuff, so have given up on that storyline.

Found Eva’s Minnie Mouse hair bow fascinating though.

Joel was another panto villain. There was always something wrong about him but DeeDee never twigged even when it was out in the open. He lied about having a wife then he lied about having a kid, then for some reason she thought it was a great idea to lose her virginity to a bloke who had left his wife a few months after she had given birth and had lied about it. They turned a decent character into a gullible victim even before she discovered he was a psycho with incredibly strong sperm.

Yes, I agree with this. She has had some fabulous clothes, but she does look like all her clothes are too 'figure hugging.' The actress (Shanice Sterling Brown) lost about 3 stone in weight a couple of years ago, and she started wearing more figure hugging clothes as she was clearly more confident with the weight loss. The new clothes showed off her clearly slimmer waist and figure, and she looked fine.

But even then, the clothes looked a bit too figure hugging (IMO) and she often looked uncomfortable. I think she has regained some of the weight, but is continuing to wear figure-hugging tight clothes, and as you say she doesn't look comfortable, and the (figure hugging) clothes she wears now are not doing her any favours. I think her wardrobe needs revising by the stylists on Corrie.

@zanahoria I think DeeDee was supposed to be very naive about relationships, which would have worked except as you say Joel was such an obvious villain, he practically had it tattooed on his forehead. They no longer have any complexity like Hillman or Stape where you can see why the women were oblivious.

I doubt they will spend more on her wardrobe, she already has about half the budget
