Yea its...not pleasant. Especially as chefs whites are fecking thick and heavy (they have to be to save you from burning) and the steel toecaps make your feet like lead. (My chefs whites are still hanging in my wardrobe)

The food in the restaurant looks really fantastic

It does, doesn’t it? I very rarely fancy any of the restaurant round menus but I’d really like to eat there.

So if pro kitchens are so hot, how do people stop stinking in those chef whites? I’ve always wanted to know.

Nowt but a vest under it. A fecktonne of deodorant. A sweat rag for mopping. Lots of water and regular showering.

DH worked as bar staff when he was a poor uni student a million years 30 odd years ago at The Dorchester (alas, he was no Tom Cruise à la Cocktail, he just collected glasses lol) and he said the chefs would do the prep, then shower and change into fresh whites. No chance of that mid shift though!

Pretty much. Shower before you start. Shower after prep. Shower after service.

I worked in a tiny restaurant (if I could give it that name) as a 20-something and yes, it was stifling. Everyone was dripping by the end of the day (TMI).

So basically it seems all those who wanted to stand on their morals and be edited out didn't make it even this far! Makes it that much easier to keep them morals huh?!!! 🤣

I like loads of people in this group, which means there is probably going to be a cull of my favourites. Annoying.
