I just finished them all (years late I know) and want to download on how much I love the show!

Isn’t it great? I struggled with it at first because I found the mayor so off-putting but I persevered and ended up loving everyone!

David and Moira are my favourite characters.

singthing · 03/08/2025 16:27

I've re-watched it about a dozen times now, and each time, I find something new I'd missed last time - a visual gag, a line, a look...

(I'm one of the smug ones who watched it when it first became available in the UK and was telling everyone I know to watch it!)

myplace · 03/08/2025 16:31

It’s a brilliant season!
my Dad was called David, and my mum was a bit needy, so I always here ‘Daaaviiid!’ now!

I was surprised by some of the Moira actress's other roles. She’s good.

GhoulNextDoor · 03/08/2025 16:39

I LOVE it. David is my favourite ❤️. I think I'm due a rewatch and I've conveniently just finished rewatching my other favourite (Girls). I really hope it's still on Netflix or I'll cry 😅

crumblingschools · 03/08/2025 16:42

We watched it the first time through lockdown, a welcome relief. Have rewatched it twice since then.

Arcadia · 03/08/2025 16:44

Me and DD also finished this today! Loved it all.

onceuponatimeinneverland · 03/08/2025 16:46

Fab series, unequalled. Stellar cast.

MyKindHiker · 03/08/2025 17:57

I loved it. By the end felt like the characters were my friends.

I love that Dan Levy wanted to write a world in which homophobia just doesn’t exist (Ronnie being around for guys nights etc). I loved that.

I love how Jonny loves his wife so much.

Catherine O’Hara is a COMEDY GENIUS. Those lines! When she tries a wine and says ‘it tastes like amoxycillin’. And her learning how to love her children and really know them. The costumes.

I LOVED THE ENDING! Twyla turning out to be a millionaire?! Who would have thought of that?

it’s like love just comes out of every scene and you can tell the cast all genuinely love each other which makes sense as they are literally related and old friends in real life.

I may have to go and start again but I think I’d be disappointed in season 1 Alexis vs the season 6 Alexis and how much she’d grown.

Watched it in Lockdown and relished every episode.

Tried to rewatch it a couple of years ago but couldn’t. Maybe I should try again.

singthing · 03/08/2025 18:04

Did you notice the many easter eggs? For example, the pink dress she takes back from Twyla when giving her her clothes in the diner is the one she's wearing in episode 1.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/08/2025 18:07

If I ever need to be cheered up, I watch drunk Moira Rose doing a wine advert.

Or ‘fold in the cheese’.

Or the Moira’s Rose’s Garden with the credit card number.

It’s hilarious.

TheChosenTwo · 03/08/2025 18:07

It took me 3 attempts to get into it and then loved it. Although moira’s accent became more and more annoying to me with each passing series, it was quite normal at the beginning!
I loved Alexis and Jonny the most. The scene where Jonny is annoyed that they aren’t making a big enough deal out of Christmas and then they unveil the Christmas tree had my crying tears of laughter.
Such a feel good programme full of warmth.

Oh yes on the accent hadn’t thought of that. I tried a few years back and picked a later episode at random and was like ‘wtf is the mum from home alone DOING’ but if you watch from the beginning it eases you in!

Love love love Dan Levy … Daviiiiiiid! So sad they not doing any more

JennyForeigner · 03/08/2025 23:03

I watch it once a year, all of the years. And I'm overdue! So thank you - hours of joy to come.

cakeorwine · 04/08/2025 08:01

The character growth is amazing. I love Stevie and her relationship with David. Such a good friend to him and then the confidence she gains in herself through the show

Divebar2021 · 04/08/2025 08:07

Ahhhh “ fold in the cheese” has to be one of my favourite scenes.

I started watching this on my own when my husband was working shifts because he didn’t want me to watch any of “ our” series while he was out. Somehow both he and my DD started to watch mid way through and got hooked. ( and then I wasn’t allowed to watch it without the both of them 🙄). When it finished they immediately went to the start and watched it from the beginning. Love that show ❤️

BunnyRuddington · 04/08/2025 08:07

Another one who never noticed the pink dress.

TommyKnocker · 04/08/2025 08:10

@TheChosenTwo it took me about 3 attempts to get into it as well. Once I did I loved it, I actually felt like I missed the characters once it was over. I loved Patrick's song to David, I thought it was going to be cringe as we didn't know if Patrick could sing and it literally took my breath away!

I hadn't read any interviews with Dan so I didn't know what the intention was and I did have a few moments where I was concerned there was going to be a homophobic attack but it was so refreshing to watch something where you could just enjoy the characters. I loved Ray, so positive but so unaware.

Fairytalefarm · 04/08/2025 08:12

Brilliant show. I can watch it over and over.

I read an interview where Dan Levy said he has this view that the beat thing to do with homophobia is just not give it the light of day. He wanted to create a little space where the people were kind and welcoming and so the comedy was situational rather than the town people being the butt of jokes. It’s so kind. He must be a nice man in real life.

I think my favourite is Moira and how she learns to be an expressive, kind, loving mother who is proud of her children on their own terms, but also backs herself and continues to want to act and perform with any opportunities available to her. I love that Cabaret was genuinely brilliant and not just a farse. That would have been an easy get out to make it awful for laughts. But instead it gave all the characters dignity by showing just because they are small town people why should everything they do be rubbish. They can do great stuff too. Yes!

Moira is my favourite. Sometimes when I'd watch I could feel my partner's irritation with her accent but it just amused me even more. Can't stop saying 'the Bebe' since

Oh My God No GIF by CBC
