I just finished them all (years late I know) and want to download on how much I love the show!

Moira is my favourite. Sometimes when I'd watch I could feel my partner's irritation with her accent but it just amused me even more. Can't stop saying 'the Bebe' since

@Duckyfondant I just feel in the hands of another actor, Moira would have been just horrible. Spoiled, a bad mother, stuck up. But her character arc is so interesting. She realises if she wants to be close with her kids she has to get to know them. She realises if she wants to live in a beautiful place she has to make it beautiful and ends up being involved in public service. When she auditions for the Jazzagals and realises they are all better than her. Catherine O'Hara really is a genius.

I don’t know whether I believe Moira’s arc though.
I mean, can someone who has managed to be so superficial actually come good? Can you be that awful and still have the potential to be better? <sideeyes own DM>

Lafufufu · 04/08/2025 10:32

Moira and David are 🔥🔥🔥

It's such a great show.

DiscoBeat · 04/08/2025 10:34

My favourite scene is the wedding dress scene. "A HWAAAT??"

DiscoBeat · 04/08/2025 10:35

I like Alexis the most. She's a great actress and I love her facial expressions. She and David together are brilliant

Maybe. I think her arc resonated with me as I changed the way I parent A LOT during lockdown. I had been very strict, very into academic success and behaviour and external things, which was how I had been parented myself. Then during lockdown and post SEN diagnnosis I am a totally different parent. I still like handbags! But now I truly don't care if my kids get straight As as long as they are happy and doing their best. Everything used to have to be an organised activity, weekends were scheduled to the nines, and I learned the joy in just being together, which we've maintained. Just going for walks, and chatting, and listening. I feel Moira would understand this :-)

Why hasn't she been in much since? She is SUCH a talent, so gorgeous, just brilliant. And you see her on interviews and of course she's totally different in real life and it shocks me the way a good actor can just completely create a character with all the gestures, and the voice like that that's nothing like them. A bit like when I discovered Adam Driver (from Girls) in real life is an ex-army republican, and a totally strait-laced guy. I couldn't believe that bonkers character from Girls was just, all made up.

For those thinking 'well that's acting', I think to be fair even many good or great actors, their characters are usually just a lot like them. Think, Jennifer Lawrence, or Chris Pratt or many other stars where the characters are just their normal selves delivering lines.

Great casting rather than great acting!

I love to see actors transform into different people. It’s not that common!

She was in a show called fuck you Kevin
or something similar

She's amazing in it but i think it wasnt popular because the shows a bit weird it has a slow start and the concept is unusual (i actually think its a really interesting take on shows like king of queens everybody loves raymond etc etc ) which i used to watch as a child and think why the fuck is she with him?

My problem with it was... I know her husband is supposed to be unlikable but its almost unwatchable because he is such a punchable moron to the point you are just enduring him on screen.

Her character was so good/ well written though and she executed against it brilliantly and it was reasonably well reviewed

Edit: just looked up the male actor... Eric Petersen.... unless he is the world's greatest actor he just look like he is an utter knob in general..his hair and outfit choices off-screen / IRL just scream I'm an obnoxious jerk

VioletandDill · 04/08/2025 11:30

I LOVE it. I can't say baby normally now - it had to be the bébé. It's one of the shows I know so well now that I just play it in the background all the time!

Venalopolos · 04/08/2025 11:33

I hold it out as perfect television that nothing else will ever get close to.

My favourite episode is David and Patrick’s wedding. But the whole thing is actual perfection.

HorrorFan81 · 04/08/2025 11:38

One of the most perfect shows I've ever seen. Just pure joy. I've rewatched it several times and it never gets old

I love this show so much! I really didnt think I would in the beginning.
I hated Roland and thought it was just going to be silly, but the characters grew on me and it's ended up being one of my absolute favourites. I never get tired of it.

The characters are perfect. It made me laugh and it made my heart ache.

I love it when David goes missing and they find him with the Amish 🤣

NovemberMorn · 04/08/2025 18:00

Another Schitts Creek fan, maybe the most feelgood show I have ever seen.
I loved all the cast, but maybe LOVED David and Alexis a little bit more...especially their scenes together.

Annie Murphy is gorgeous, the only other thing I have seen her in was a Black Mirror episode, 'Joan is awful' ...it was horrible, please let her get some good acting roles in the future, she deserves them.
