Come on Flavio

JaneJeffer · 09/07/2025 19:32

That mobile phone at the bottom of the screen is getting on my nerves

JaneJeffer · 09/07/2025 19:32

He split the difference

Raahh · 09/07/2025 19:33

He's fine.

CrushingOnRubies · 09/07/2025 19:34

Eurgh. Ok whatever

RaraRachael · 09/07/2025 19:35

Shite. Let's hope Sinner destroys him in the semi

Raahh · 09/07/2025 19:36

Turned over quickly to avoid any celebrations.

At least he has an 'injury' in the bag now, should he be losing badly against Jannik. The commentators will blame his 'fall'.

EasternStandard · 09/07/2025 19:36

Well done to Djokovic. Shame for Flavio who does look great

derxa · 09/07/2025 19:39

Well played both

ChessieFL · 09/07/2025 19:40

Nice exchange at the net.

The men always seem far more friendly at the net than the women. There’s usually a hug with the men and an exchange of words whereas with the women there’s not usually much more than a fairly cold hand clasp.

EasternStandard · 09/07/2025 19:41

I’m appreciating the nice sportsmanship

I often think that- there have been some frosty men's matches, but it's more often the women who seem a bit cold.

Jow Salisbury in the Mixed doubles finals tomorrow with Luisa Stefani- tough ask, they face Katerina Sinakova and Sem Verbeek- Siniakova has got to be one of the best doubles players around, but it would be greay for Joe if they won.

IceandIndigo · 09/07/2025 19:49

Yuck. What a vintage Djok performance, right down to the fake injury on match point to distract the opponent.

Jannik, I’m counting on you to do your thing on Friday. Carlos has had to deal with him the last couple of years, now it’s your turn Smile

The shouting up at the box when he was a set and a game up. Why moan when you’re winning?

When he was doing the shh sign? The football type chanting is really loud, my baby started dancing during it! They’re proper singing. The slip and face slam onto the floor whilst trying to do a split looked really painful, his knee went the wrong way. It was so close, I don’t think we was winning, he cinched it. If Cobelli won that game they’d be playing another set. I flipped so much between thinking ok that’s Cobelli’s now to it’s Djokovic now.

BakeOffRewatch · 09/07/2025 20:21

Do we really think it’s fake? I took it as trying so hard, pushing his balance to the limit at high speeds, and he does that sliding on his ankle thing which always makes me wince. Just intrigued as I feel we watch two different Djokovic!

Really? Looked too uncomfortable for that

It looked awful and the way his body slammed would be way too risky to fake

I think there are more Russian, Belarusian and Eastern European women players, which might explain the frostiness.

Fizzywinegum · 09/07/2025 21:32

Well everyone descended on me for tea in the fourth set and then DH phoned to tell me what a nice time he was having so I didn’t get to see much of it in the end Hmm

At least Cobolli gave him a good match and showed lots of promise - he might have gone to the top of my list of favourite Italians Grin

Come on Jannik (he might even go to the top of the list if he beats Djok!)

I posted that comment when Djok was 2-1 up

I’ve been watching him for (too) many years. Every time he slips over or gets a minor injury or illness he milks it for all it’s worth, knowing it’s going to put the opponent off. And then he goes on to make a full recovery and win the match. Which is exactly what happened here, Flavio had the momentum in that final game but after the slip was totally distracted and meekly lost the match.

RaraRachael · 09/07/2025 23:06

As a PP said, Djok recovers from a "fall" or "injury" just at a crucial losing stage in the match. Then if he loses to Sinner it will be blamed.

He hasn't got the beautiful classy strokes of Lorenzo. It was a good effort though but Novak was too much for him.

Ah right I understand. I guess in comparison to Sinner and Dimitrov behaviour in their match, Djokovic was more dramatic. I can understand how that would be really annoying to notice every time if you’d been watching for years.

Raahh · 10/07/2025 08:08

It's a pattern of behaviour that even his staunchest supporters have started commenting on in recent years .No-one backs up Djok more than Mac does, complaining he doesn't get the respect and 'love' that Roger or Rafa got. He's always saying how unfair people are to him

But even he commented earlier in the year 'not to be fooled' by yet another injury /illness in a match.
