I saw on insta earlier that he might set up a golf date with Tom Holland.

I would pay good money to watch that. Grin

Henman hill was pretty messy last week so hopefully Tim will be getting his high vis litter picking gear on later!

I think Cam is probably the sort of person who looks a certain age however old he is

I see Sinner vs Shelton have been chucked on No1 Court tomorrow, whilst Cock is on Centre Court again Hmm

Raahh · 08/07/2025 19:05

Fizzy I've got used to late night matches - so it's odd having to find something else to do.

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2025 19:08

I know - it’s a strange feeling Raahh - what will we all do next week?

Well, Gstaad starts Monday Grin

I'm hoping Casper will be playing at that.

And Los Cabos. Oh and Bastad.

I'm sure I'll fill my days with something (even with rubbish Sky coverageGrin).

HmmNo surprise there then.

I hope there are a lot of very vocal Italians with tickets.

I hope Trinity turns up with a t-shirt with her name on tomorrow. In big letters. To prove a point.
Like Kim's sweary t-shirt at AO Grin.

I'm watching it with the TV on mute Smile

I don't blame you. Maybe I should have done the same.

MajesticWhine · 08/07/2025 21:14

I think Sinner vs Shelton could be a good match up. Sinner a bit vulnerable with that poorly arm. Shelton on pretty good form.

Here is Mirra supporting Conchita in the invitational doubles yesterday. Love her hat!

Love this. Thank you for sharing @ChessieFL

Yesterday, I watched Djokovic v De Minaur from Monday Day 8, I really enjoyed that. I think posters here have given me the beginnings of ick for Djokovic 😂as I kept over thinking what he was doing, but no I still enjoy watching him play tennis and enjoyed the match. I’m really interested in seeing how far he takes this with his discipline, dedication and age. I think I just like his origin story too, in comparison to the Henman story I grew up with where he had ancestry playing in Wimbledon and started at 3yo because he had a tennis court in his garden. Then the latter half of Alcaraz v Norrie live, and Sabalenka v Siegemund from the morning Tuesday Day 9. Sabalenka hitting the net with her racquet 😮

Wish I could have caught up on the other quarter-finals from Tuesday but also struggle for hours in the day! First time in decades I’m getting to properly watch Wimbledon.

ChessieFL · 09/07/2025 08:35

I dream of the day when I can spare 2 weeks of annual leave just to lounge around and watch Wimbledon.

BakeOffRewatch · 09/07/2025 08:36

Djokovic v De Minaur was 3h18 and Sabalenka v Siegemund 2h54 so I watched a lot of tennis yesterday!

Raahh · 09/07/2025 08:38

I saw the picture in FB-Chessie Mirra is brilliant. So much fun. She's striking a great balance between taking her sport seriously and doing fun stuff too.missed the match- shame they lost.

Got everything crossed for Flavio today.
I hope Jannik is OK.

BakeOffRewatch · 09/07/2025 09:24

I’m watching Monday Day 8 Fourth Round Andreeva v Navarro now. The commentary told us Emma Navarro is the daughter of billionaires. It went on to say money won’t go anywhere without hard work and dedication, which is true but tennis is an expensive sport and you do need to be starting very young which needs parents or nearby courts. There’s so much grass roots football available, at least where I am, but not tennis. Last summer I had lots of targeted ads from the LTA for 4-6yo girls access to tennis, mine would have been too young but can’t find any sign of it this year.

Has anyone done the Wimbledon Museum access and 90min tour? I’m thinking of going with my kids once Wimbledon is done. The little one keeps asking if what we’re watching is happening for real!

CurlewKate · 09/07/2025 09:52

One of my parenting triumphs is the year that, whole weeks, I managed to convince my screen deprived 18 month old that tennis was his absolutely most favorite thing in all the world….

RaraRachael · 09/07/2025 10:18

I'm enjoying being retired and watching as much Wimbledon as possible. OH is fine as hd gets full watching rights when it's football.

I remember taking a sickie from work in the 80s to watch Wimbledon (pre roof days) and it pished rain all day! Never did it again😁

ChessieFL · 09/07/2025 10:29

@BakeOffRewatch I did the Wimbledon tour earlier this year. It’s good. We got taken into the media centre and up on the roof there, into Centre Court (only in the seating area not onto the court itself, and sadly not in the Royal Box or any of the fancy backstage corridors you see on TV where they have all the boards of past winners etc), and the debenture area which is where they do the press conferences (you can have your photo taken at the press conference table). They don’t take you round the whole Wimbledon site though - we saw Henman Hill but not all the other courts down the other end of the site, because it’s still a tennis club and those areas are in use by club members. It’s definitely worth it if you’re a tennis fan but I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get to see the fancy backstage bits of Centre Court!

Fizzywinegum · 09/07/2025 10:38

Aah I love Mirra’s hand made sign and her support of Conchita (I’m a sucker for a handmade sign anyway)

I’d quite like to visit the Wimbledon Museum and library one day but it would need another trip to London - maybe when I’m retired (hopefully not too far away)

I’m WFH today so hoping to see some of the tennis - I’m hoping for a Cobolli win but I’m not holding out much hope but you never know - also hoping that Jannik is OK - I just don’t want to see Djok in the final (again)

I think I’ve done quite a good job on my (now adult) DSs - I did make them watch tennis when they were younger and they weren’t that interested but they will both watch it now

I remember those days! I booked a week off work and ended up watching endless replays and bloody Cliff Richard!

Will be rooting strongly for Flavio today but don’t hold out much hope for him, he’s been playing great but is inexperienced on grass and I think Djok will find a way to beat him.

Jannik vs Ben could be interesting if Jannik isn’t 100%. Whoever wins that match I am relying on them to beat Djok in the next round, I really want to see a different final this year.

Mirra and Iga are my picks on the women’s side. Loved Mirra’s support for Conchita, they seem to have a really nice relationship.
