Old thread full.
I'd forgotten about Buddy, bless him.
We must be getting rid of Eliza soon?
Baby Archie has grown a couple of months in a few episodes!

Aussie here. Sounds like you’re not too far behind us. Maybe about a month?

We’ve just had Cash and Eden’s wedding ceremony last night and wedding reception tonight.

If it’s the spoiler I’m thinking of it happened on the show tonight.

Another who doesn’t like Jo. She’s definitely made Harper seem less annoying. Don’t like Lacey either.

The story lines are a bit meaningless or directionless or something at the moment.

The IVF storyline has been accelerated but Mackenzie does only have one ovary and tube so her pregnancy chances are halved. Depending on the character’s age the time to wait before going to assisted reproduction changes. Under 35 is 12 months, 35 and over is 6 months. Pretty much all IVF is in the private health system. Apparently some parts of maybe one state has limited public/free IVF for some. Not in mine. We had to pay.

Otherwise it’s privately paid for up front and you can claim back some of the cost from Medicare. Some parts like egg retrieval require private health insurance to cover the in hospital cost of the operating theatre. That’ll involve at least a 12 month waiting period meaning paying 12 months of PHI premiums before you can claim for IVF related costs. You generally need the top level of PHI coverage to be covered for assisted reproduction and pregnancy. It can be expensive. Clearly Mackenzie and Levi have plenty of money and Mackenzie already had PHI in place at the top level of coverage. Not sure why she would when the local public hospital there can do everything and do it quickly in the public system.

I’ve angrily muttering at the IVF scenes being factually incorrect and misleading.

For the outside filming at houses they don’t do much these days. They’d have to get permits to close the street, pay for traffic control and security, and things like that. The inside of the houses are entirely stage sets. They’re not really in a house, even the caravan park house. I felt lied to when I saw a photo of the set. 😆

I’ve been watching H&A since forever. Pretty much since the first year.

Lucky you, I'd love to live in Australia 🙂 i have family there. My uncle has been living there for over 60 years now.
I've been watching Home and Away since the first episode as well.
Really sad about the storyline I saw is happening in Australia at the moment. I think we're about 6 weeks behind in the UK

Noooo! It’s just a set?

FeralWoman · 01/10/2025 13:16

@Rummikub Yes. Same for the diner, Irene’s house, the surf club and every internal place. The outsides are all real buildings. It’s why the diner and the bait shop weren’t shown anymore and the outdoor coffee cart was introduced. The actual building underwent a renovation so they couldn’t film outside it for a year or two. The caravan park house is a real house. I think it was damaged in bushfires so they couldn’t film outside it for a while until it was fixed. If I hadn’t seen photos of the sets I would have sworn they were inside real houses.

Rummikub · 01/10/2025 13:19

Wow incredible!

They did used to show the outside of the bait shop for awhile. Always the same shot.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 01/10/2025 13:55

Many years ago, there used to be a door at the bottom of the stairs in the Beach house (behind where the bookcase is in the photo).

I like Irene's house the best, John Palmer also has a nice house.

Rummikub · 01/10/2025 15:01

That link says Irene has been there since 1994!

Why is she leaving irl? Retirement or health?

Rummikub · 01/10/2025 15:14

I meant to say I love a correspondence set. I might have to get one again.

FeralWoman · 01/10/2025 18:59

@Rummikub She’s left to do other things while she’s healthy and able to do them. She had a few months out of the show because she had an enlarged thyroid removed. Her character went to rehab for alcoholism. The difference in her health after it was removed has been great and she wanted to go do other things, like perform on stage in theatre productions. That’s what the actress Lynne McGranger is doing now.

Rummikub · 01/10/2025 22:46

@FeralWoman ahh thanks for that

it was still sad to see her go but glad it was her own choice.

so that leaves maz and alf as long standing characters. Maybe Leah.

Rummikub · 02/10/2025 13:52

I really cannot care about the ivf storyline. It annoys me how heartbroken/ impatient they’re being after a minute of trying.

FeralWoman · 02/10/2025 14:22

Had a triple episode tonight. It was sad for all three episodes.

We get 6 episodes per week. One on Mon, Tues and Wed, and three on Thursday.

I hope that there’s some happy storylines coming up. At this point baby Archie is probably the only happy character, dirtying his nappy or throwing up on Dana’s boyfriend.

strugglingwithlife · 03/10/2025 10:02

I've seen what's happening at the moment on H&A in Australia, it's gonna be on screen here in November, I know that's gonna be so sad 😢

Just watched Irene's last episode. I'll admit I cried 😭

Please can you avoid hinting - it's not quite a spoiler, but near enough.

strugglingwithlife · 07/10/2025 08:08

I didn't say what was happening. And it's been all over the internet anyway

But some people avoid reading about it. I've blocked pages on Facebook because they kept giving me spoilers(the main one being Irene leaving). I don't read magazines or go searching for stuff on Home and Away or other things I watch. The most i do is read the sky planner so I don't know what's happening in Australia or what's on the Internet.

strugglingwithlife · 07/10/2025 20:40

I don't read magazines either and I don't have Facebook but for some reas kept seeing it on all of my news feeds when I go online

Bree at vending machine trying to get salt and vinegar crisps. In a pink packet! Surely it should be blue? Prawn cocktail belongs in pink.

FeralWoman · 08/10/2025 22:29

@Rummikub Pink is correct here. Blue is plain salted chips/crisps. Prawn cocktail isn’t a thing here as far as I’m aware.

😆 It’s always been a dark pink with a hint of purple in it for as long as I can remember.

Just checked my supermarket apps. Seems that we have Lays prawn cocktail chips, and prawn crackers in the Asian section in packets with non-English writing on them. Also vegan prawn crackers are available. Not a seafood eater so I don’t eat seafood flavours.

Im not a seafood fan but prawn cocktail crisps are sooo tasty! Always in a pink pack!

Which makes sense as cooked prawns are pink

salt n vinegar blue (in my
mind salt- sea- blue)
