Is anyone watching this - I watched the first series this weekend, absolutely loved it Likeable, relatable, even shed a few tears. Its about a social worker in Norway, managing her own teens , new lover, father who has just come out as gay, grieving her sister who recently passed away and looking after her sisters son. Such a great drama, think there are 5 series on Netflix as well

Thanks for the reco OP, you were right, it's excellent!

Reminds me of another beautiful norwegian series centered around a middle age woman / mother : Afterglow.

Brooklyn70 · 23/05/2025 09:11

oh, i’ll give it a go today.

i’ve seen it suggested on my netflix but for some reason thought it was a movie.

thanks!

iwantavuvezela · 23/05/2025 22:37

Thanks I need something new to watch

Notellinganyone · 25/05/2025 12:34

I watched the whole thing - all 5 seasons in about four days. I absolutely loved it. Really moving but also funny. I particularly like the fact that she’s attractive but looks her age and is a bit overweight- so much more realistic than the middle aged women on shows like Four Seasons. The final two episodes of the final season had me and my husband weeping copiously. Hard recommend.

iwantavuvezela · 31/05/2025 20:38

Just finished all 5 seasons - what an amazing show, so well acted and casted - So many tears, laughter and realness in this series.

Not sure what to watch now - feeling bereft 😀

timestressed · 09/06/2025 23:20

I am watching it dubbed.

SwimSwamSwimSwam · 09/06/2025 23:21

timestressed · 09/06/2025 23:20

I am watching it dubbed.

Is it OK dubbed?

timestressed · 09/06/2025 23:23

Yes, no issues IMHO

SwimSwamSwimSwam · 09/06/2025 23:24

I think when I put it on to look at it was dubbed and subtitled. I know you can change it. I'm wondering if the dubbed is OK.

Summerhillsquare · 10/06/2025 07:02

Id love to watch this but how do I change the horrible American dubbing?

You need to tweak the language settings to Norwegian audio (not English) and English subtitles. I’m trying to remember to step. Possibly when you pause you see the speech bubble above the timeline bar, or that might be Disney+. 😬

boatyardblues · 10/06/2025 07:08

On the Netflix app, the ‘audio and subtitles’ setting (with speech bubble icon) are below the timeline bar when you pause.

Have you seen Bonus Family, Swedish drama about a blended family? There's also Rita, Danish drama about a teacher.

SwimSwamSwimSwam · 10/06/2025 09:01

I'm going to start tonight with subtitles.

Testerical · 17/07/2025 21:10

Giving this a bump as I think it is one of the best TV series I’ve seen in a really long time. Stumbled across it by chance and I just knew someone on MN would have watched it.

If you’re a middle aged single parent of teens, extra strong recommendation.

it’s so well observed and scripted and although sad in places, is quite positive and uplifting about both midlife and being a single parent.

And made me want to buy a holiday home in Norway (but only for use when it’s not dark 18 hours out of 24 ;))

Testerical · 17/07/2025 21:17

I’m going with original Norwegian and subtitles in English or my second language depending on how I’m feeling. Not seen the dubbed option that often on Netflix … is it a new thing?

shumway · 18/07/2025 09:17

Loved this. Anyone got any recs for something similar?
