A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix, Viki, Amazon Prime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama - the best are listed below.

The previous thread is here. Our list is cumulative & includes previous threads’ recommendations and favourites. Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. On genre categories, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. This tonal chaos is part of kdrama’s charm. We are fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, language, current affairs, film and music when the mood takes us. A few of us are learning Korean, Japanese and/or Mandarin (some more diligently than others), so we swap tips and links to language resources. Basically, anything topical goes.

I might start Beyond the Bar to pass the time.

Deadline is Kentish Town, Rose is Flitcroft St (nearest tube is Tottenham Court Road). We queued about 30 minutes for Deadline but there was next to no queue when we left. It's in the O2 Forum so quite a big space and you can try on the clothes to check sizing. Rose we queued well over an hour and everything was the same size which was super annoying as I couldn't get the top I wanted as I don't generally wear fitted clothes.

I'm feeling you. I've also been up since 4, heading out to see my lovely Y13s soon. I haven't seen the results yet but I'm hoping for some nice surprises

Yes, he was really disappointed and then his first choice sent an 11th hour email offering a slightly different (but not similar enough) course, which cleared his mind a bit. Some phone calls later, he's happy with his insurance choice and I think that he'll do well there. What a morning though 🙈

Watching a v. interesting and entertaining J-drama called Their Marriage on Netflix. 4 episodes up, worth checking out!

Beyond the Bar still hitting it out of the park despite a slightly ropey plot in episode 5.

I've recently been making forays into C-dramas after getting a bit fed up of seeing the same faces popping up in K-dramas. The historical ones with lots of improbable fighting scenes are a fav atm and I can recommend Legend of the Female General (Viki). Slow burn chemistry between M & F leads, beautiful costumes, acrobatic fight scenes, modern feminist idea-ed (is there such a word?) FL and RYAN CHENG!!!🙌
Actually, the settings/scenery are rather beautiful and I would like to visit the film set for the houses/palaces. I now need to check whether China has tours similar to Korean drama ones.

Confession - I still haven't seen Kpop Demon Hunters 😱Must do better!
