Just watching the last episode. No spoilers from me though!

deeahgwitch · 02/03/2025 00:06

I've watched Episode 1 also. It's good so far.

Bankholidayhelp · 02/03/2025 11:00

Just watched episodes 1-3. I like the way each episode ends in a twist.

Dont like the whole scale violence against women that's portrayed.

I do like the 'social' /dropping the ball/domestic/family dynamics portrayals. There's a lot said with very few words.

I’ve just finished it and really enjoyed it.

placemats · 02/03/2025 11:44

It's a highly recommend from me and my suspicions and predictions turned out to be right.

UndergroundSilo · 04/03/2025 00:49

Not going to post spoilers, unless I can?!

Enjoyed this series, but confused by very last scene of final episode. Why were they free to drive around? Thought they would be in jail!

Bettyfromlondon · 05/03/2025 07:15

Yet another drama series filmed in the dark!
Gave up after one and a half episodes.

thepariscrimefiles · 08/03/2025 19:32

Watched all episodes over two nights. Would highly recommend. Very creepy indeed.

IwantToRetire · 08/03/2025 21:11

I am assuming that as there is already a tv pace thread this is the binge watch spoiler thread.

Have enjoyed many crime dramas set in Wales.

Often dark and depressing.

But worth watching,

This was a complete load a tripe.

Did some AI thingy write the script using every plot cliche.

So disappointed.

I am sure they thought they were being deep and meaningful but it was just clunky.

And the 2 lead characters so unpleasant.

Maybe I have watched too many crime dramas.

RunsAndHides · 09/03/2025 11:18

I thought it was good up until the ending which just seemed totally convoluted.
I get that these sort of series need to have a twist of some description but this was so ridiculous it tainted my overall view of the whole series.

deeahgwitch · 09/03/2025 16:27

I think it's good. Blush
I have only watched 3 episodes.

IwantToRetire · 09/03/2025 17:33

My worst feeling was at the end - because it seemed to me they were hoping to a second series.

And no doubt some other twist of fate will mean the 2 main characters having to find a way to work together.

But glad the wife decided she had had enough.

Hope she goes off into the sunset and doesn't need to have anything more to do with them. Smile

Sunflowersanddaffodils · 09/03/2025 18:01

We gave up after four episodes as couldn't bear it any more. Totally baffled that such an unpleasant character as Rick could be in a love triangle. And ridiculous that the two present day suspects should be placed in the same prison as the convicted murderer from twelve years ago.
We were also asked to suspend our disbelief that there were so many links between Rick's family and the murder case.

glitterturd · 12/03/2025 16:42

Yeah many holes in the plot but I really loved it. Gripping.

LegoTherapy · 12/03/2025 23:16

I loved it but did find it predictable and ridiculous especially the prison bit with the two suspects housed together. It accompanied my new Lego build and was therapeutic but my god these dark Welsh dramas aren't much good for tourism are they?! Hinterland and Hidden were fantastically dark and I've just watched the Pembrokeshire murders. Now all my thoughts are in a Welsh accent from watching Welsh shows all week. I have learnt some Welsh via Duolingo but no good at speaking it or reading anything beyond basics.

DBD1975 · 13/03/2025 01:41

I enjoyed it up until the last episode and then the plot twist was somewhat unbelievable although you could see it coming.
I don't want to give anything away but what I don't get is who came to the door at the end of episode 5?

IwantToRetire · 13/03/2025 01:48

I thought this was the spoiler thread as there is a week by week thread at https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/5281021-the-one-who-got-away-9pm-sun-march-1st-bbc-4-tv-pace-no-spoilers

So yes, who came to the door at the end of episode 5? I finished a little while ago and have just binged watched something else so have forgotten. Although I think I do remember but maybe wrong to dont want to misdirect!

Anjelika · 14/03/2025 14:06

I've watched it all and assume it's OK to discuss it here as there is another TV pace thread on the go. I don't think we find out who came to the door at the end of episode 5 do we? I assume it was either the guy who was the carer to Ffion's dad or the wife of Paul Harvey (King Thistle in a previous life 😅).

I got a bit lost (bored maybe) towards the end. Am I right in thinking the carer didn't actually murder anyone, that he chickened out every time and was therefore driving around a free man at the end? What were we meant to think of his leery smile in the car at the end though when he saw those girls go by? Are we to assume that Ffion and Rick got it wrong again and he actually was the murderer?

Another question I have - was Anna Harvey faking her illness as surely someone with terminal cancer wouldn't be physically able to drag bodies about like she was claiming she had?

IwantToRetire · 14/03/2025 17:49

Am I right in thinking the carer didn't actually murder anyone, that he chickened out every time and was therefore driving around a free man at the end?

Yes and his step mother (or was it foster mother) said he wimped out so she had to step in.

But maybe the leery smile was to say he might not have been the killer this time but he had basically been groomed and was therefore a potential danger.

RaraRachael · 14/03/2025 18:17

We were very underwhelmed by it. Yet another programme where I've spent several hours of my life watching then at the end thinking "Is that it?"

Xmasbaby11 · 14/03/2025 19:56

I did enjoy it but there were too many coincidences - lazy writing! Also the fact noone followed up on Paul Harvey's family and foster kids. There were a lot of signs things were wrong in that family.

I thought the final episode with Jamie was showing he was dangerous and ready for what he'd been prepared for.
