Started cringe but seemed to create a good atmosphere

I dont watch this sort of awards type show usually but its on in the background

Not only am I cringing at him but all the clapping seals in the audience

But before that, I was going to ask in a thread, what happened to 'stars'. You wouldnt have got these strange cameo 'comedy' pieces (helen mirren in the mirror for example) back in the 40s/50s/60s

Can you imagine Bette Davis or Sean Connery doing a jokey spot to introduce something or singing stupidly along to something.

Where has the dignity gone?

No they do it on a delay but start it early to cut out any swears or anything controversial

He is. I'm biased as I think he's an incredibly overrated actor but he's making me miss Stephen Fry, who I also think is massively overrated!

It's a blatant rip off of the American style of introducing these shows, as seen at the Oscars and Golden Globes. I dislike it too. It used to be that the BAFTA's had a suitably 'British vibe' but now it's just another Hollywood awards show with a few nods to British films.

At least we don't seem to have Alison Hammond doing interviews this year - that was excruciating last year
