Conclave is great, wouldn’t have been my winner but gripping and stylishly made. Lot of people on this thread who seem completely uninterested in film.. why do you watch the BAFTAs???

Oh I'm definitely going to watch conclave. Love a bit of religious skullduggery.

Bit put off by the talk of diversity in the acceptance speech though. I like my Papery to be as God intended - intolerant, Machiavellian and violent.

I'm thrilled that Conclave won. I just loved it. It was so gripping and so tightly written and produced and so wonderfully acted.

I think in any other year Conclave would have swept alot of the awards with A complete unknown bring in best actor because although I don't think the latter was a good film per se, Timothee Chalamet's performance was pretty extraordinary. But such a strong year with The Brutalist which I have not yet seen.

Three or more strong films. It's been a good year for cinema IMO.

But for those who think Conclave is too dull and boring I would recommend seeing it. I feel it was quite the masterpiece of understated acting, glorious sets and costumes and design.

I did enjoy tonight's awards though.

I thought Conclave was decent - apart from the ending which I found cliched. I didn't find it particularly significant- I don't think it will be one that stands the test of time.

I found The Brutalist an enigma. Foreboding from the start, nothing life-affirming in it but Adrian Brody and Guy Pearse were very convincing . It was beautifully and stylishly shot and I felt like I was there and the score was excellent. It had a message for the world now I thought. I thought it was a much more significant film than Conclave.

I enjoyed 'A Real Pain' - wouldn't have expected it to win anything.
