Episode 5 “Camping” Much to Amanda’s annoyance, Anne organises a camping trip to the New Forest. What should be a wholesome weekend away ends up being a nightmare, including snakes, drugs and UTIs. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0027mhq/amandaland-series-1-5-camping
What was with her mum Felicity licking the crisps at the episode opening!? It was so absurd!
I liked them around the edge of the football pitch with the banter about what kind of tent passes Amanda’s bar, it’s a really good cast. I’m not a fan of episodes off site, I thought this was a good one.
Not ok with Anne committing a sex crime. Not funny at all and I don’t know how that passed any editorial. I get that they were angling for peri makes you change completely as a person, and uptight Anne would give the biggest personality shift, but that wasn’t funny.
Think the last two episodes are more character development than silliness. The moment between her and Mal, her constantly seeking validation about Johannes being sexy and permission from her son to turn him away showing she’s actually quite insecure and looking to others to tell her what to do, even though she comes across superficially as someone who doesn’t care who she steps on or cheeky she is to get what she wants co-lab. I much much prefer the first three episodes. So I’m kind of not looking forward to the last episode, if it’s a game of two halves the last half seems a bit serious. What do others think? Or is this what people want from it?
I’m still waiting for some big clanger to drop about Johannes.
Loved Felicity taking 20s at the camp site. And the classic “I can’t believe you’re making me leave!” By the teen who never wanted to go at the end!
I didn’t get Amanda’s new found aversion to public loos. It’s the location of a key scene between her and Kevin in Motherland!
