I’m also going to watch week by week! Don’t want to watch it too fast and ruin it as have been waiting ages! I also thought the hot tub scene was great and how she stuck to the true self and didn’t take the mushrooms, and then had to keep checking on the kids etc but… still lying to Anne!

Edited

Same @fashionqueen0123 ! I love Motherland and I don’t want watching this series to be “over” so quickly. I saw this headline about a possible Christmas special www.radiotimes.com/tv/comedy/amandaland-creators-hint-christmas-special-newsupdate/

Episode 3 “New Job” Anne takes on the Herculean task of teaching teenagers. Meanwhile, Amanda gets a job at Kichen’s Kitchens and Bathrooms, while Della launches her new restaurant – Double Shin. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0027mhl/amandaland-series-1-3-new-job

I did watch this tonight, it was great I really enjoyed it. The Double Shin logo, “weekend dad” versus “step dad” and Lucy Punch is amazing at physical comedy, the way she hid in the kitchen shop and then sort of slithered out. They cram so much in to an episode as well, I wonder where the Della Amanda relationship will go, they’ve shown two heart to heart moments now, in the first episode about caring for their parents, Fi said Della had just been through that, and today, about trying to start a business. The photo Fi took of Della with the sinkliminator was hilarious. Amanda is so brazen! It’s unbecoming in Motherland when it’s not appropriate amongst all the other struggling mums, but somehow admirable here as she’s starting from zilch in her 40s.

I've binged them all, couldn't help it :) Anne is my favourite character I think.

StrikeAlways · 20/02/2025 12:31

After the recommendations here, I have started watching Motherland. One so far. Loved it!

fashionqueen0123 · 20/02/2025 18:33

I loved this episode - I’ve told my daughter’s maths tutor to watch it! This is why we have her. Because I am Anne 🤣
I also really liked how Amanda told her mum the truth and admitted she can’t get a good job etc.

Julen7 · 20/02/2025 18:39

The scene at parents evening with the teen daughter and Amanda saying her daughter was distracted in class because of puberty and hormones and “she’s got a boyfriend now” and the daughter just kept saying “oh my God!” “Oh my God!” She sounded just like my daughter when embarrassed. It did make me giggle.

For anyone who has a bad insta addiction as well as MN and Amandaland, there is a post today on insta from Louise Thompson , an outfit of hers was the inspiration for 1 of Amanda's outfits - I think it's episode 4. Louise isn't sure how to take it, it's quite funny (and I love Louise). (There is a spoiler on the insta if you haven't seen episode 4).

I absolutely cannot wait for next week. I lol'd about 4 times through ep 3 and watched it again today. I think poor georgie going up and starting her homework in response to the scene between Amanda and Mummy so touching / such sadness / pathos/ reality.. Just brilliant tv in the midst of comedy.
Its just fab and the "how hard secondary school maths is ' for parents and kids.
Ann and Amanda -but you need a degree Ann and her with a PHD from Imperial. Just brilliant brilliant writing. I love Amanda ( the struggle is real ) and Ann .Just great entertainment

LillyPJ · 21/02/2025 04:13

I'm restraining myself (with difficulty) from watching the whole lot. Episode 3 was great - obviously very funny, but I think Lucy Punch is also brilliant at showing Amanda's vulnerable side. Incidentally, I first became aware of her as an actor in the film, 'Bad Teacher', which I think is hilarious and have seen more than once.

chaosmaker · 22/02/2025 22:41

@LillyPJ she's Joanna Lumley's daughter in Ella Enchanted as well.

BlackSwan · 24/02/2025 09:00

Does anyone else think Amanda seems to be dating Elon Musk's father?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2025 18:31

I’m enjoying

love Joanna l

amanda is so desperate to get the chef to like her

BakeOffRewatch · 27/02/2025 22:52

Episode 4 Amanda goes on a date with South African property developer Johannes, while Georgie and Darius’s relationship starts to get serious, much to Anne’s delight. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0027mhp/amandaland-series-1-4-boyfriends

So good to see you on the thread @Blondeshavemorefun ! I thought you had watched it in one go?

My favourite line from tonight was from Della “I’m sure that won’t be hard” when Johannes said he was trying to seduce Amanda. I liked the mystery of what Felicity might be upto through the episode, and really liked seeing Mal’s caring side when he got into Anne’s car to comfort her. Darius moved on quickly!

Definitely loving Amanda’s struggle @Radyward shes a lot more relatable here without the moneyed husband, regency proportions house and car. Yes @LillyPJ , Lucy Punch is excellent at making her funny and vulnerable . My kids aren’t even Motherland age yet @Julen7 i wonder if teens will be the same in 15 years time! I’m sure I’ll still be rewatching Amandaland then!

Nousernamesleftatall · 28/02/2025 14:03

I am loving it. Missed the first episode though and don’t have iplayer. Can someone tell me why Anne has downsized her house?

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/02/2025 14:11

She was moving at end of motherland as needed 4 bed as was preg again

but the 3rd preg was twins

so I thought she moved to a bigger house in a cheaper area

plus was a thing about a secondary school they all wanted but wouldn't get as flats were build so the catchment area was smaller - so the kids of Julia lIz and Kevin went to the local (naff) school

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/02/2025 14:12

@Nousernamesleftatall it’s on iPlayer for me ?

I was listening to Lucy Punch on a podcast the other and she’s extremely funny and intelligent. She’s been my favourite actress for a long time and Amandaland is such a treat

deeahgwitch · 02/03/2025 00:11

Isn't Joanna Lumley just perfect as Lucy Punch's mother.
Both such glamorous blondes.

SammyScrounge · 02/03/2025 03:02

I loved every minute. The actress who plays Amanda is superb and satirises middle class concerns perfectly.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2025 17:54

E5 tonight
