Masked Singer 2025: Starts Saturday 4th Jan

I'm not saying I'm keen but I could see a thread for this year so thought I'd get one started.

Anyone watch the Xmas special? I found it too hard to guess who was under the mask just based on one or two songs...

I'm very sad they axed the Masked Dancer, it had an extra level of daftness. (Also adds to the 'have they been on this before' confusion!)

I've always thought it seems a bit confused about who it's aimed at- on the face of it, it's aimed at children,colourful costumes and sets- but most adults watching have forgotten/don't recognise half the acts they unmask which does make it a bit pointless for kids. DD2 was 9 when the first series came out and was very underwhelmed after the first couple of un-maskings of a politician and a retired footballer .

The bulk of the fun is very much in guessing if it's some forgotten 80s sitcom star have they brought out of retirement/US actor who had a bit part in Revenge.

TMD was to replace BGT as unable to do the latter due to covid.

Definitely not aimed at kids

I'm watching on catch up and don't understand how Giant Joel got unmasked so early?

Think my question has just been answered - it was just a joke as Mo Farah is now on the judging panel.

Giant Joel was a surprise in the Christmas edition, worth checking back on catch up if you missed it because Joel's confusion is so worth it.

She used to be one of Marie Wilson's backing singers

My guesses are:

Teeth is Rob Beckett or Paul Whitehouse
Snail is not Helen George, she's a trained singer and that wasn't her voice
Tattoo I couldn't tell
Tommy Walsh for Kingfisher if it's not HH
Crab - I thought Jamie Foxx because there were shades of Ray Charles in his singing

Let's be grateful that he's not on the panel every week. Even though I love MF, his guesses were awful!

Admittedly Davina McCall always gurns at the singers and talks to them like she's watching some cutesy toddlers playing.

But for the most part (Davina excepted) it's a bit of fun in otherwise dreary January.

If it was aimed at kids there would actually be people under the mask thst they’d recognise.

Lots of the tv clues pass me by because I don't watch much these days so if it's older stuff I've more chance.
