It's annoying I know but I'm looking for intriguing and well made TV series to watch over Yule.

I recently watched Baby Reindeer and loved it. Watched the Menedez brothers one; Monsters and thought it was ok. Am thinking about Kaos and Black Doves.

I have Netflix and Amazon Prime but am obviously open to anything on BBC, ITV etc

Things I love:
The Bear
Better Call Saul
Slow Horses
Man Hunter
True Detective
Sopranos

I'm not interested in stuff like the Gilmore Girls or Emily in Paris. Well written and acted drama, crime or horror is most welcome.

The Bridge, and Cardinal were good. Both at least 10 years old now but we'll worth a watch and have a couple of series each.

Black Bird on apple - it's only short, but brilliant

Sons of Anarchy

Ray Donovan

Dexter - brilliant

I really enjoyed Yellowstone as well.

I've seen the Bridge and love it. I love any Nordic Noir, love Wallander and The Killing as well. Haven't seen the Cardinal, will give it a go.

I really enjoyed the British drama series Sherwood starring David Morrissey. There are two series - the second one was on recently, but I think series 1 is better.

Have you seen Our Friends In The North? Best British drama of all time imo.

Maid, which I think is on Netflix. And i McDowell and her daughter, who is brilliant in the lead role
And Bad Sisters on Apple, which is just fab

DeathStarCanteenGal · 19/12/2024 14:49

And if you've not watch it, Happy Valley on iPlayer. I didn't watch it till last year then binged all three series - although only 6 episodes in each.

Take it you’ve seen Peaky Blinders OP? Also Line of Duty? I’m halfway through Black Doves, it’s okay in a daft sort of way, bit like Killing Eve. Also The Fall is good,

I've seen a lot of Peaky Blinders and couldn't really get into it. I loved Line of Duty, thought it was superb. I liked The Fall and thought the first series of Killing Eve was ok. All great suggestions.

Oh Succession is one of my favourite all time series. Just brilliant.

Also, not crime, but if you never saw Mad Men... That's an incredible series.

Ozark
The Lincoln Lawyer

TheSecondMrsCampbellBlack · 19/12/2024 16:50

Day of the Jackal is gripping, don't read the spoiler thread on here!
Black Doves isn't as good but is also gripping
The Morning Show is great

OfMiceandWomen · 19/12/2024 16:54

Slow Horses

clawmachine · 19/12/2024 16:56

Fargo, especially the first and the most recent series
The white lotus
After the party on channel 4
The listeners on iplayer

Oneearringlost · 19/12/2024 16:58

We've signed up for a week's free trial of Apple to watch Slow Horses but found Disclaimer on there, which we're really enjoying.
Also Caliphate, Swedish drama, just excellent, edge of your seat, perfect. ( I think Netflix but could be wrong).
We're also enjoying Bodies, not the gynae drama, ( although it's v v good). It's a thriller spanning different times, 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053, with Stephen Graham and the girl who was in Unorthodox ( also highly recommend) It's on Nerflix.

It has John Hamm too. 😍Grin

Wallasey123 · 19/12/2024 19:27

Apols if someone has said and it’s not a full series (only 3 episodes) but Until I Kill You on ITV with Anna Maxwell Martin is SO GOOD. It is very dark though and based on a real story so def comes with a trigger warning.

For a much lighter and easier watch I thought Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn on Apple TV was brilliant

username299 · 19/12/2024 19:31

I've seen Slow Horses - love it. White Lotus and The Morning Show. I want to watch Day of the Jackal but don't have the provider.

The others look great.
