umma · 30/04/2008 20:43

agree so heartbreaking

expatinscotland · 30/04/2008 20:44

No, I cannot bear it just now - waiting for my ADs to kick in.

DH is watching Traffic Cops.

Whoever takes little kids deserves far worse than anyone on this planet can mete out to them.

I remember once, when I was footloose and childfree, my boyfriend (later my H) and I found a little girl of 3 wandering around our apartment complex.

She'd managed to get out of her grandmother's apartment but couldn't tell us where the lady lived.

This was in Houston, home of Amber Alert but long before that came out.

My boyfriend went back to our place to call the police and we tried out best to calm that little girl down whilst the police were en route. But all I could think of was that we were glad we found her and not someone else.

I will never forget the look on that lady's face when she came racing towards the police car.

foofi · 30/04/2008 20:44

Just switched it on. Can't believe there are still no answers.

NoNickname · 30/04/2008 20:45

What time did it start? Dh is watching the football and I've just started to record it, but if it started at 8.30, I've missed the first 15 mins. Is it going to be repeated.

NotABanana · 30/04/2008 20:47

it is on 8-10pm

kid · 30/04/2008 20:47

I can't bear to watch it, its just too sad.
I recently read Gerry's blog and even that upset me. What must those poor parents be going through, its just too hard to imagine.

PictureThis · 30/04/2008 20:48

that little girl was lucky expat, and so are those 400 other children since Amber alert was started. shame that europe is appearing to drag its heels in following suit.

expatinscotland · 30/04/2008 20:51

Poor Amber. She was actually abducted at the age of 9.

In addition, John Walsh and his wife have worked tirelessly for the cause of missing and abducted children in the US and worldwide since their firstborn child, Adam, was abducted and murdered at the age of 6 in the early 80s.

Sadly, stranger abduction is far more common there than here.

NoNickname · 30/04/2008 20:51

Aargh - so I've missed 45 mins? Is there an ITV plus 1 channel?

ginnedup · 30/04/2008 20:58

My ds2 is the same age as Madeleine and he has changed so much in the last year, I can't imagine being without him for that long, not knowing where he is.
Its upsetting to watch.

FoghornLeghorn · 30/04/2008 21:01

It is heartbreaking
We were there when they were made Arguido's, our villa was just around the corner from theirs so it all seems really real to me. They drove past us on numerous occassions and the way Gerry looked at DD1 was just heartbreaking
I don't think I have ever felt for people so much

expatinscotland · 30/04/2008 21:01

DD1 is only a bit younger than that wee girl.

expatinscotland · 30/04/2008 21:03

i think it's really grasping at straws to conclude they had anything to do with her disappearance, tbh.

ellingwoman · 30/04/2008 21:06

This is so harrowing.

PictureThis · 30/04/2008 21:16

Elizabeth Smart's Dad is so right

billa · 30/04/2008 21:18

I'm watching it, did you see at the beginning when Gerry read the card from someone who wrote to them calling them scum.

PictureThis · 30/04/2008 21:19

I missed the beginning of it.

expatinscotland · 30/04/2008 21:20

elizabeth was abducted from her own bedroom and brainwashed to believe her name was augusta.

a truly astonishing case.

expatinscotland · 30/04/2008 21:22

two teens in California were locked into the boot of a car, having both been raped, and their abductor was driving towards the desert to kill them when an Amber Alert was flashed across the motorway.

he'd told his victims he was taking them to kill them.

it really saves lives.

iloverosycheeks · 30/04/2008 21:31

how anyone could have said they didnt show emotion is beyond me - i have never seen so much pain in someone's eyes... so sad, heartbroken for them

DirtySexyMummy · 30/04/2008 21:32

This is so sad, so hard to watch

nikos · 30/04/2008 21:38

God Bless the pair of them. They made a huge mistake but they love that child passionately. I so hope she is found.
