Who’s up for a discussion thread on this?

A new show from the ‘Taylorverse’ (for those of us who love a Taylor Sheridan watch). Starts in the US on the 16th Nov so expecting it to be in the UK at the same time.

Based on the podcast ‘Boomtown’ this does seem to be a modern-day Dallas - and what’s not to love? Epic cast - John Hamm, Demi Moore, Billy Bob Thornton and Andy Garcia.

As a child of the 80’s, this is right up my street!

Just bumping this thread ahead of the launch tomorrow. I can’t wait.

I’ve watched the first two episodes- a different take on the ‘oil business’ but really compelling. BBT is awesome in it.

I'm about to watch Yellowstone then this later! Too much good tv on at the moment!

I need the first scene where he's got a bag over his head explaining, I was trying really hard to follow it and couldn't. I'm going to need to start again!

It’s BBT character. He is ‘the landman’ so his job is to agree leases for the subterranean rights that MTex have. The owner of the land was the guy who shot the guy holding BBT. They were holding him as they thought he was trespassing on his land. Technically he was but MTex did have the rights to the oil/minerals etc, The Owner after shooting the other fella then agreed to the payment offered by BBT on behalf of MTex. MTex is headed up by Monty played by John Hamm and who is married to Demi Moore in it.

That make sense?

I thought it was great, didn’t realise there was a 2nd ep but will save that for tomorrow night. BBT is great, liking his character already.

Watched the first couple episodes and really enjoyed it BBT is brilliant but do find is daughter slightly annoying! Think this will be a good replacement for Yellowstone once it ends I can see this having some very good storylines with lots of drama

I think there were far too many gratuitous arse shots of the daughter, but if I had a bum like that I’d probably have it written into my contract that it has to be put at least once a show 😂

And the stuff she was saying to BBT about her sex life😂

On Ep3 and the daughter’s ass is out as usual. So unnecessary, when she was at the house with her dad’s workmates, who would walk around like that in front of them?

Seen episode 3 now. Very much still feels like prologue.

I’m finding the female roles really sexist and irritating so far ! Demi Moore has said 3 words … I need them to do the women a solid and flesh out the roles a bit ..
have a crush on BBT though …

The subtext is that the land in question is tied to the drug cartels and that the oil company doesn't care about any of that. In fact, they will fund new roads to make "business" easier.

BBT's character makes it clear that even the cartels won't be stopping the oil companies because of the enormous amounts of money involved.

I can't see any other threads about this, we just watched the final episode last night and really enjoyed it all. Yes, the mother and daughter roles are quite sexist but I think it's true that women like that exist! I liked the (slight) gradual growth of Angela's character, in her own way she tries to help and show love. BBT is so good in this - he's not attractive to me yet I'm so attracted to him, what is going on?? I'm hoping for a second season.

I agree on all points! I think the second season (if there is one) will be more focused on Tommy & Cooper given the ending of the finale.

Yes the Cooper story is shaping up to be a good one!
