Who’s up for a discussion thread on this?

A new show from the ‘Taylorverse’ (for those of us who love a Taylor Sheridan watch). Starts in the US on the 16th Nov so expecting it to be in the UK at the same time.

Based on the podcast ‘Boomtown’ this does seem to be a modern-day Dallas - and what’s not to love? Epic cast - John Hamm, Demi Moore, Billy Bob Thornton and Andy Garcia.

As a child of the 80’s, this is right up my street!

I really enjoyed it, it think DH found it a little boring. Looking forward to the next season! Wonder how many seasons they’ve got in the pipeline.. ha! for it.

There must be a new season, there were so many ends, love BBT and also really enjoyed Cooper's storyline.

I can't see any other threads about this, we just watched the final episode last night and really enjoyed it all. Yes, the mother and daughter roles are quite sexist but I think it's true that women like that exist! I liked the (slight) gradual growth of Angela's character, in her own way she tries to help and show love. BBT is so good in this - he's not attractive to me yet I'm so attracted to him, what is going on?? Grin I'm hoping for a second season.

Yep, like Rip in Yellowstone. Start off not fancying him, by the end having saucy dreams 😂

Definitely set up for S2. Hopefully we’ll see more Demi Moore (and John Hamm 😉)

I really enjoyed it all - especially the ins and outs of running the oil wells.

Yes, it was interesting. I had expected it to be a sort of modern-day Dallas but it wasn't at all - well apart from all the cowboy hats Grin

Netaporter · 15/01/2025 09:17

Yes, I was expecting to see BBT as a modern day cliff Barnes and John Hamm as JR Ewing!

Just started watching it. Watched Yellowstone and Lioness already.
Like it, think BBTs is great, and am always a massive fan of John Hamm, BUT I do feel a bit like it's all very man focussed, and all the female characters are written as idiots!

I’ve just finished watching the first series and enjoyed when they focused
on the oil stories. I found Angela and the daughter really annoying and didn’t like the way Taylor Sheridan portrayed them.

Reviving this thread ahead of season 2 which starts tomorrow. Looks like we’ll actually see a lot more from Demi Moore this season… sadly not Don Draper 😭

BlueBarnOwl · 17/11/2025 18:14

Would you recommend this series for a Taylorverse newbie?

Yes. You don’t need to have watched anything else he’s written. Start on the first series though.

I’m in! The characters make me laugh. My mom grew up in Dallas my sister was born in Fort Worth. The scene reminds me of my stepdad who did heavy construction in Florida in the 70s and 80s. Everything is amped up, but the attitudes are spot on.

justasking111 · 06/12/2025 17:09

So looking forward to tomorrow night
