I think Hanah is more friendly with the boys because she has much more in common with them culturally.

Also Ali has done her fair share of bitching. She likes to have a dig about Rosie whenever she can.

WallaceinAnderland · 25/10/2024 15:36

Ali said she should be able to monitor and restrict other people's speech without them objecting.

MrsPeterHarris · 25/10/2024 16:27

That's not what she said at all @WallaceinAnderland - she asked that where she is 'captive' that certain topics aren't discussed. I think that's fair enough - if you're unable to walk away & clearly uncomfortable with the topic, then I think you should be able to ask that people refrain from that topic whilst you're there & for others to respect that.

She has walked away on all other occasions & not caused any issues. Basic respect / manners or whatever should mean that individuals accept IMHO.

It's a pity her lap dog Lily has no basic manners. Funny how Ali is quite happy for Lily to be disgusting around her.

MrsPeterHarris · 25/10/2024 16:49

I completely agree that Lily is disgusting & commented as such earlier in the thread. It's a different kind of disgusting though - not really comparable?!

No these were two different conversations. She basically said people shouldn't be allowed to have opinions that are different to hers.

MrsPeterHarris · 25/10/2024 16:54

As I said earlier in the thread, one of the reasons I love BB & love this thread is because I find it fascinating that we all watch the same show & see very different things. Sometimes it opens my eyes and gives me a new perspective & other times I struggle to understand where people are coming from!

I took Ali's comments in a very different way to you @JaneJeffer , so we'll have to agree to disagree.

JaneJeffer · 25/10/2024 16:57

I think you must have missed a bit @MrsPeterHarris

MrsPeterHarris · 25/10/2024 16:59

No, I've watched them all and all the Late & Lives too - I just don't watch the livestream as I'm too tired by that point although I used to love the live-stream back in the early days!

DwarfBeans · 25/10/2024 17:45

JaneJeffer · 25/10/2024 16:57

I know exactly what you mean. It's the comments like 'there's no point as you won't agree with me' attitude.

DwarfBeans · 25/10/2024 17:46

How are posters genuinely missing Ali's red flags? She is a brilliant manipulator to watch but once you know she's doing it you can't unsee it. She's even manipulating the viewers (ie the voters) with her t shirts.

She identified Lily quickly and actioned her game plan. It's so clear to see!

peerie · 25/10/2024 17:59

Agree, I also think it's a game plan
Nobody can be that obviously horrible in her profession

MrsPeterHarris · 25/10/2024 18:20

I'm not missing anything @DwarfBeans , I just have a different view on things. Hence my comment about enjoying reading the thread and the different takes on the same people.

It is clear to see. I think that unless one is versed in this sort of manipulative personality type, then the character in question is doing exactly as they set out to do - manipulate.

Re the T-shirt, it's the map of Palestine in a watermelon image.

I don't want to derail the thread, and find her wearing of it completely farcical, but ITV choosing to edit the image is disappointing - to me.

DwarfBeans · 25/10/2024 18:34

I liked Ali on night one and I still enjoy watching her but I can't say I like her.

If she tried to limit control to just herself then that would be fine but she's a control freak trying to control everyone. She told Marcello she has a job to go back to. This inferred that he doesn't have a worthwhile job. Yet he's a youth mentor.

The only danger to Ali's professional career is Ali herself.

DancingTurtle · 25/10/2024 18:35

I'm waaay behind, currently watching Tuesday's episode.

I really don't like the ganging up, firstly on Khalid and then on Ali. I admire the people who seem to have kept out of it - Emma, Sarah, Tom, Heather etc.
I don't understand how Lily and Hanah operate in the world. I don't think I've ever met anyone like either of them.

Remember I'm quite far behind, but I still don't like Marcello. He's a misogynist.

Oh, and I don't like the Love Island-esque make-up station.

DwarfBeans · 25/10/2024 18:37

If Marcello is a misogynist, is Ali a misandrist?

DancingTurtle · 25/10/2024 18:46

Not from what I've seen so far, no (I'm a few days behind).

ConstantlyFuriosa · 25/10/2024 18:57

DwarfBeans · 25/10/2024 18:37

I don’t see the comparison? Marcello has said sexist and demeaning things and clearly objectifies women. The period comment was vile. Not respecting people’s boundaries is vile. Although Ali handled it badly by calling him out on it in front of the house, she was right - talking about sexually explicit things while they’re all a captive audience (having been called to the sofas and unable to just walk away) is out of order.

Ali has said nothing to indicate she is disparaging of men, or dislikes them in general.

I will say, though, during that conversation mentioned above, Baked Potato was also a part of the sex talk, and I think this is where Ali was coming from when she first said she had her reservations about her in the diary room. She was pretty upfront in saying that the reason she hasn’t said anything directly to BP is because she is so well liked in the house. I suspect that after Khaled-gate, and then pissing off Marcello, she genuinely didn’t want to further rock the boat.

There is something about BP that comes across as - while not exactly ‘fake’ (I hate that BB contestants always wang on about this; it’s a game show Ffs!) deeply inauthentic. She plays her cards very close to her chest, that one.

I also dislike the ganging up, @DancingTurtle I don’t think I’ve seen any against anyone other than Ali, though.

PS. Who’s Heather? 😄

JaneJeffer · 25/10/2024 19:10

@DancingTurtle watch out for the bit where Ali tells Dean that people shouldn't be allowed to say what they want

DwarfBeans · 25/10/2024 18:37

Ali doesn’t seem to like the company of men. I’m not saying that because she’s a gay woman. It’s the way she talks to the boys in the house. I quite like her but she knows her words are clever and that she can put her point across in a measured way. I’m hot and cold about Lily. I agree with Emma that the screaming is irritating. Funny to me how Ali doesn’t seem fazed at all by it when she’s so easily offended by the behaviour of the boys. Some of what Lily has done I find amusing but I can’t believe she screeches like that in her everyday life. I think Izaaz will go tonight.

DwarfBeans · 25/10/2024 19:27

Ali to Hanah: I promise you you're not going to lose Khaled. That's just not going to happen.

Why did she so desperately want him up for eviction then? Again, either she's stupid or playing a game. In that instance, she was playing Hanah.

She was trying to placate Hanah. Maybe she did actually get why Hanah was upset. Or maybe she was just playing a game.

StarSlinger · 25/10/2024 19:38

For some reason Ali was desperate not to fall out with Hanah. Perhaps because all the 'mandem' would back Hanah and vote Ali up for eviction.
