No snow here few weeks ago

Where do you live

We had snow 22nd nov, it ruined family plans so I remember the date. West of Scotland so obviously not where EE is filmed

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 26/12/2024 09:23

Finally caught up.

Glad Ian grew his backbone back. Poor Elaine, she was always going to have to compete with Cindy whether she was there or not.

Although George needs to realise that Cindy isn't his Rose. I'm amazed Cindy didn't have any affairs whilst she was with him, it's who she is.

I loved how Lauren just kept her cool, didn't get riled up.

My money is on Gina or Junior who whacked Cindy. Junior is expendable.

Ian will be at the allotments talking to his Gran or something.

kerstina · 26/12/2024 09:28

I thought Gina too as she said “ I am done !” But Ian was unusually violent so makes sense for it to be him?

Cattery · 26/12/2024 10:59

Thought they dragged out the ‘cast out in the snow clutching the fur coat at the neck’ bits for too long then the whack with the shovel was ridiculous.
Didn’t George shout at Junior something like “take what’s mine” and Elaine heard it? Lauren was marvellous in her satisfied glee and rightly so. Hope Cindy’s dead. Can’t see what else they can do with her now. Same old storylines of her being the woman all the men want is a bit creaky now she’s 60-odd

Yeah and can’t help thinking she would be well past all that man chasing.

Cattery · 26/12/2024 11:34

Well the character has never grown up has she. It must be exhausting. I really don’t think a woman of that age would have done that to Ian again plus I don’t think Ian would have ever had her back after the David Wicks and the attempted shooting debacles. The writers have just made a lazy attempt to shoehorn Michelle Collins back into the show by giving her the same old sleazy storylines

midlands, we had a good 4/5 inches over a few days.

MouldOrPaintOnlyOneWayToFindOut · 26/12/2024 12:13

Jeez the part when Cindy said she didnt care about anyone in the room, when her 3 kids were there 😭

I hope Lauren is OK. Peter calling her toxic for how she handled it was mental, given how he's behaved towards her over the last few episodes. He's defended Cindy and prevented Lauren from seeing Louie - there's no way he'd have believed her if she'd told him about the affair.

WinterBones · 26/12/2024 12:21

i wanted to slap Peter the way he behaved over Louis and the Bike earlier in the episode.

Peter really does have the worse traits from both his parents!

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 26/12/2024 12:26

Old school EE fan. Ian trashing the lounge was an homage to Arthur Fowler’s Christmas Club Money Meltdown from the 80’s. Great stuff.
My only gripe is NO woman ever would leave her handbag behind in the pub. She’s got two tops and a scarf in her suitcase that Ian threw in, she’s booked an Uber, but left her handbag? Not happening.
What is Nigel up to? He’s lying, so he’s up to
something.
I did wonder why Junior didn’t really push the point that his father had said he didn’t want Cindy to leave, but George dug his own grave.
Lovely Kojo. I’ve grown so fond of him.
Cannot bear Teddy and his ex - what is Sharon thinking.
Denise and Ravi - for all the women watching who are the same age, me included, all I can say is - go for it.

the80sweregreat · 26/12/2024 12:52

It's always the women being slung out into the snow isn't it ? Sharon one year whilst pregnant, Phil has had his share of intimidating women over the years. I'm sure there is more , but it's generally the women who come off worse. Apart from when Little Mo hit Trevor over the head with an iron that time !
Elaine was probably worried George will be like her ex and boomerang between them , so she got in first last night , but may regret that later on

1975wasthebest · 26/12/2024 12:54

It wasn’t Lauren’s place at all to throw that bomb. Nobody would thank her for it whether that’s in reality or in a soap which they nicely captured yesterday. She didn’t do it for anyone else’s benefit, just to satisfy her own twisted need for revenge. She should get a life!

the80sweregreat · 26/12/2024 13:00

I know a few much older men who still chase after women ( usually younger women!) who think they ' still have it '! Getting older doesn't stop them trying!
Cindy is like a man sometimes, selfish , self absorbed , will lie to get her own way
Just a more extreme version.
I don't blame Lauren really : she was up against it from the get go and a real outcast. Nobody believed her.
She had ammunition unexpectedly and wanted to throw it. She just didn't care at that point
Still taking the drugs is bad though , she needs to kick her addictions for the babies sake but guess it's too late now!
:(

And me. Been watching since 1985 and loved the Arthur Fowler reference. Also cannot stand Teddy and the wife. They seem to have come to the square with a hell of a lot of money and bought that house and nightclub unrealistically quickly. Don’t think Sharon would be remotely interested in him. Why is Nigel hanging round soup kitchens if he’s got a house? They don’t arf pluck stories out of thin air x

gingercat02 · 26/12/2024 13:37

That was a great 2nd episode. Good old-fashioned EE slanging match at Christmas, lol
I hope Cindy doesn't die, I've always really liked the character. However, that might be her 40th anniversary come back done (not a spoiler)
My money is on Kathy

the80sweregreat · 26/12/2024 14:10

I hope that Cindy lives

Tbf it wasn't anyone's place to drop it. But i very much understand why she did. Cindy has always hated her, and lately she was beyond brutal. Nobody, not even Peter who says he'd do anything for her, believed her and basically told her she was nuts.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 26/12/2024 15:15

Cindy was never going to fess up, someone had to expose her. They've all treated Lauren like shit. Elaine of all people should have understood, Linda is no different to Lauren and we have Cindy giving an addict drugs.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/12/2024 15:22

I actually felt sorry for Ian last night

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 26/12/2024 16:08

Ian is a tough one to feel sorry for at times , but his obsession with Cindy is deep and maybe now he'll realize he is better off alone
Unless she lives and gets her way around him again
Be interesting to see what happens now

qazxc · 26/12/2024 16:20

I can understand Lauren doing it by playing the tape in public. If she had approached any of them individually they would have not believed her/ made out she was a crazed drug addict. I don't understand the keeping her away from her child. She isn't under the influence, is in treatment, has been his primary caregiver all his life. What was the point of spiriting the boy away from her when he wanted to show her the bike and they were all there to supervise contact.
There was a lot of blaming of Lauren on "destroying the family", well she wasn't the one having an affair, it all.turned a bit into shoot the messenger.

qazxc · 26/12/2024 16:26

As for the shovel wacker, generally it turns out not to be any of main suspects.
My own random guesses are:
Honey, didn't want to be upstaged as bride of the year.
Tommy, wanted to nick her phone or fur coat.
Nish, thought she had seen him and walked her to shut her up.
Reiss because they will want to turn him into a cardigan wearing serial killer.

lol you should be a script writer for EE ! I did think of Nish but thought h no motive. That would make sense

the80sweregreat · 26/12/2024 16:33

What most ( normal ) people would have done is played the tape to someone in private first ( Ian or Peter ?) you'd want people to believe you , but there are ways around it..
Lauren was also nosing around upstairs in the Vic on Christmas Day without any of the ones who live there noticing her!
She must have found it pretty quickly too
