Not that I know of, it’s not based upon anything but my imagination. I avoid spoilers and know not to post them in here which is why I wanted to know what time tonight’s episode was on. Just idle speculation 🤷‍♀️

eta I watched tonight’s about 7 this evening so wasn’t wildly ahead but knew I was too early.

murasaki · 16/12/2024 23:23

I actually thought it was ridiculous. They'd been doing a brilliant job with this story line. Then it became evident that it was a vision/dream instantly when George etc wasn't there outside and the funeral was instant with nobody there. And the black screen bits. Very ham fisted compared to the great job they had been doing. Another attempt to shoehorn in some ex characters pre anniversary (Nancy and Lee), and a real disappointment.

murasaki · 16/12/2024 23:36

It was like one of those weird 'Charlie says' public service announcements from when I was a kid.

Charlie says don't take a bottle of vodka and cosy up to a tramp under a sleeping bag or....

iknowimcoming · 16/12/2024 23:42

I had a kind of panic stricken moment when I thought I was watching the wrong episode for a bit, as it didn't seem right with the instant funeral etc, but I still thought it was gripping in a tragic way, and very moving! Kellie has come a long way from the pink windmill show!

Eh? It was "evident it was a dream", so what made the dream ham fisted?

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 09:09

Well yes I worked out it wasn't real as all Xmas stuff in pub and as you said no George and seemed weird only family in church and not all the cast mourning her

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 09:11

But thought it was really well done. Kellie acting was brilliant and def deserves an award

Pervey tramp

I just felt it was all bit 'ghost of Linda future' as if one of the script writers had gone 'ooh, a Christmas Carol's, let's nick the plot device.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 10:02

Yes ghost of Christmas showing what could happen

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 17/12/2024 10:11

A Christmas Carol is one of my favorite Dickens books! The plot is used a lot in dramas , I remember one with Ross Kemp once with a similar theme only set in modern times
I was hoping for a few more 'ghosts' yesterday

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 10:24

You mean dd @the80sweregreat 😂

the80sweregreat · 17/12/2024 10:35

Blonds , who is DD ?

kerstina · 17/12/2024 10:37

I took the dream sequence to be a near death experience as it did look like she had some sort of seizure but wasn’t sure when it started as she picked the picture up again. Was that the second time she picked it up ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 10:44

Oh Mick! Sorry , not thinking straight today

the80sweregreat · 17/12/2024 11:01

She threw the picture away but picked it up at the end.

RareLemur · 17/12/2024 11:20

I don't know how likely it is that Linda would suddenly have a switch flipped and realise that she needed to go to rehab. Or that a space for her to go to would suddenly materialise. I'm not in the UK and everybody is different but it was a more gradual process with my family member and then we needed to wait for a space/ go through their doctor. It wasn't let's pack a bag for them and drop them off, they had to show that wanted the help and even then there was wait for a space. IME when they were in rehab it was for a few months (about 3 months, I think), there were a lot of rules and a gradual acquiring of privileges including contact and visits. I hope that they show this as a process and not let's ship her off for a few weeks and then all is forgiven and forgotten about. Medical issues seem to appear and disappear at the writers whim.

the80sweregreat · 17/12/2024 11:38

Maybe Elaine is paying for a private rehab clinic ? I imagine that would be a lot easier to organize at short notice , but I've no idea really.
Linda hasn't seen a GP at all

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2024 11:58

Private always find spaces but it's costly

OP posts:
thisoldcity · 17/12/2024 16:13

I know it was meant to be serious but that picture Olly drew of Linda, complete with pink dress, on her back glugging from a bottle, made me laugh.

the80sweregreat · 17/12/2024 16:35

The picture Ollie drew , at first I thought it was her being sick rather than drinking tbh. Then I realized it wasn't as she was laying down.
The Lauren story is so muddled.
I'm not sure where they are going with it really

Oh no! I loved it!

agreed! I liked that it was Christmas Carol-y, a bit dreamlike, and that we knew it wasnt real. Soaps dont go down that route often.
I also liked how the train rumbled every time they were changing scene etc

Cattery · 17/12/2024 18:14

@MouldOrPaintOnlyOneWayToFindOut It was marvellous!
