Celebrity SAS Who dares wins

On Channel 4

Anyone watching?

Ive just watched the first two episodes of this season, I don’t know who most of them are but Bobby Norris is comedy gold 🤣. The shaking, the noises, the crying I shouldn’t laugh but it’s so funny. But at the same time I’ve warmed to him straight away and really want him to overcome his fears and do well. He seems so fragile and sensitive I’d love him to find his inner strength and start smashing the tasks.

Anyone?

Ooooh didn't know there was a new series!

Although I'm not sure they can ever top the Matt Hancock series, it was just so wonderful watching him getting ripped into each and every challenge.

Conniethecatapillar · 29/09/2024 14:18

I am watching, I like Bobby as well. He seems like he has some self awareness at least.

Temporarynameforthisone · 30/09/2024 07:00

Yay! I’m not the only one.

I think Bobby is this series Matt Hancock, the SAS men seem to find him annoying.

I'm watching!

Mostly cos I was intrigued about the story around Pete Wicks coming back for another go. But now I'm hooked as I think they are a very interesting, eclectic bunch.

Totally didn't click who Bianca was until I looked her up, that must have been a hellish childhood.

Cherry doo-dah seems to be becoming the Mother Hen of the group encouraging everyone.

The NZ Māori boxer was incredible in the fight section. I find that so difficult to watch but also sort of weirdly fascinating.

the80sweregreat · 01/10/2024 04:34

I'm in love with Jason Fox so I only watch it for him. 😆
( I do have a bit of a thing for him and his craggy face )
Only ever dipped in and out of the other series
Pete is also a bit of eye candy ; but looks the unreliable sort and currently on strictly

simonsayss · 02/10/2024 00:34

I’m watching!

Marnie was the same as every other program she’s been on. She has deep rooted issues but every time she gets close to overcoming some of them, she allows herself to continue how she’s always been and stay a defiant brat who stands in her own way.

I think Bo Jo’s sister comes across as nice but I’m struggling to warm to her as I know she probably agrees with Tory policies that keep her family rich and northern children poor.

I liked Ellie downie a lot but I suspect something majorly triggered her into withdrawing. It looked like she went into full ptsd mode rather than fear

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2024 06:53

I was hoping that Ellie might win , but she clearly had too many issues.
I'd like Bobby to do really well

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 02/10/2024 07:02

Bobby drives me up the wall. I love the show generally but I want to throw something at the TV every time he’s on screen. I’ve got no idea who he actually is in terms of what qualifies him to be on a celebrity version of the show but they seem to have struggled to get any well known contestants this year apart from Ellie Downie and Anthony Ogogo.

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2024 07:06

I really don't mind Bobby tbh.
Bianca is coming across well too.
The staff make me laugh whenever the contestants become 'emosh '. They struggle with any empathy ! 😆

NooNakedJacuzziness · 02/10/2024 07:23

Bobby did so well in the submerged helicopter task - and they still failed him! I know he didn't do it exactly right but that was a bit harsh I thought.

the80sweregreat · 02/10/2024 07:27

The staff are hard! I think they like failing them all despite their best efforts
I admit I haven't seen many other previous episodes / series (only one or two) , so not sure if this is just how it goes.

I have a soft spot for Billy I think he’s quite sexy. I think beneath that hard exterior there’s a teeny tiny soft centre. I’m always intrigued by characters like all the SAS men, i just find them a totally unique breed of resilience, determination and mental strength and I find myself wondering how they got to be like that.

Dh went to Jason fox's talk at a local theatre once and he has suffered with PTSD apparently. You'd think they would be a tad sympathetic, but maybe that's not seen as a good thing ?
( or wouldn't make good tv?)

I have a soft spot for Billy too… I think he actually feels quite moved by some of the stories he hears.

I really like having the insight of the psychologist on this series.

Me too! She's fab

I think to keep it ‘good tv’ they play on the hard men image of the SAS because most people are intrigued by them and if they show any vulnerability it would weaken their image.

They have set requirements for every task, very clearly explained to the celebs.
It's not that they "enjoy failing" them, they are trying to show them what is required (in a very dumbed down, shortened version) what it takes to qualify for the elite of the armed forces.
They are also making good TV so need to fit the stereotype of the SAS of course.
So Monday night's tasks were about Nerve, each episode has a "theme" to the tasks, a different facet that's needed in special forces.

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2024 07:06

No, I understand there isn't any room for sentimentality or big hugs from the staff!
Was just musing really , but the show is good

mrswhiplington · 03/10/2024 09:40

I always think the American guy seems a bit more soft hearted. He doesn't to swear at them as much and seems more encouraging. I still wouldn't want to do it though. 😀

simonsayss · 03/10/2024 09:56

Does anyone else watch and think about if you could do the tasks? Underwater one would not have scared me (not saying it’d be easy) but I’m not frightened of being submerged. The falling backwards into the water I don’t think I could mentally do it. 😂

the80sweregreat · 03/10/2024 10:20

I could not do any of the tasks !

Bobbybobbins · 03/10/2024 23:38

I would have had a go at the high bridge thing, the abseiling. The falling in backwards looked terrifying!

IchiNiSanShiGo · 03/10/2024 23:50

Could never do the tasks. Would 100% do Foxy though.

Temporarynameforthisone · 05/10/2024 06:03

Yeah I always try to imagine doing the tasks. Definitely wouldn’t have done the boxing one. I would’ve been like Bobby on the bridge, I’m terrified of heights and it really annoys me. I would’ve given the abseiling one a go because they had a harness. I think the helicopter one was harder than it looked because you can’t feel the cold water when you watch it on tv and I would imagine your instincts would be to breathe in, to catch your breath when the freezing water went over your head which you can’t do.
