Anyone watching?

DH & I watched the first two episodes tonight - loved it!
Kathryn Hahn is amazing.
Loved the start - based on the Danish series Wanda/Vision! Grin

Am onto episode 2. Very meta! Need to have watched wandavision to have any hope if following it!

APurpleSquirrel · 20/09/2024 16:25

Absolutely! But Agatha is such a great character.
I'm wondering if the lad is meant to be her son Nicholas Scratch?

I absolutely loved Wandavision, the only Marvel I've thought was brilliant.
So if it's like that I'm in.

jay55 · 20/09/2024 16:39

Planning to watch this weekend. I loved Wandavision too, but haven't kept up with all the films.

HotCrossBunplease · 20/09/2024 16:40

Danish series? We watched Wandavision, it was American, a Marvel thing?

I assume a son of Wanda but don't know about any kid of Agatha as not read the comics.

Wonder if Sharon is a witch or not! Or just along for the ride!

It'll make more sense when you watch it!

Can anyone explain the back story from
Wanda vision? Never saw that and would like to know the back story.

APurpleSquirrel · 22/09/2024 21:41

Wanda is a very powerful witch & when her boyfriend, Vision, was killed by Thanos in front of her in Avengers: Infinity Wars, & after the final battle in Avengers End Game she finally started to grieve. She tried to retrieve his body but was fobbed off by SWORD & found them experimenting on Vision's body (shady government agency), she found the deeds to a building plot in Westview Vision bought for them to live together/start a family. She went there & had a sort of breakdown that manifested into her powers consuming the entire town, stopping anyone from getting in or out. Everyone who lived there was 'cast' in WandaVision- an archetype American sitcom set around Wanda & Vision living in Westview. Her magic created the entire set up including recreating Vision as a physical being. They start out as a newly wed couple in a black & white 1950s sitcom & as the series progressed they move into different eras - 1960s, 1980s, 1990s etc. During this Wanda creates a pregnancy which produces her & Vision's sons Billy & Tommy. All the residents of Westview know they're not living their actual lives, but are stuck playing their roles.
Throughout the series, Wanda has a neighbour called Agnes - she's a bit kooky & odd, seems to be at times on Wanda's side & others conspiring against her.
Eventually Wanda's power starts to falter; she can't sustain the illusion & hold on to the spell over everyone (other things are happening, people from the outside getting in etc, Wanda's supposed dead brother turns up etc) & finally Agnes kidnaps Wanda's kids & reveals herself to be Agatha Harkness, a powerful witch who was drawn to Westview by the spell Wanda created. Agatha wants Wanda's power - she can absorb other witches powers if she is struck with them.
A battle ensues & Wanda realises she has to destroy the spell, but in the process that will kill both Vision & her children.
Vision is essentially saved by a version of him remaining in a new body; but Billy & Tommy disappear & Wanda is devastated.
In the fight Wanda takes away all of Agatha's power (& a powerful witchcraft book called the Dark Hold) & puts Agatha under another spell making her believe she was Agnes, a police detective born & raised in Westview. She is still a witch but has no power & no memory of it.
All the residents of Westview are 'in' on the spell & keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't return to witchcraft.
However, Wanda dies in the film Dr Strange Multiverse of Madness & when she dies her spell on Agatha dies too - hence why Rio & the Teen are able to guide Agatha out of the spell & remember who she really is.

It'll make more sense when you watch it!

Did you mean "Disney" not "Danish" ?

RonnieOmelettes · 26/09/2024 18:29

You just need to watch it, it will make sense!

Everything0Everywhere · 29/09/2024 07:38

Really enjoying this series. I quite like that the episodes are released gradually too. It has an age rating of 14+ but as a grown adult, I'm still a bit spooked by parts! 😄

MissTrip82 · 29/09/2024 10:04

Yes I’m enjoying it!

Kathryn Hahn is so good.

mum2jakie · 05/10/2024 16:39

Do I need to have seen anything other than Wandavision to be able to enjoy and understand Agatha All Along?

So far - no. If you've seen WandaVision you'd be ok.
But there are still more episodes to go, so it might loop back into the wider MCU towards the end.

Loving this!

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 19/10/2024 18:27

Have found the Marvel tv series and films recently so hit and miss but this is really fun! Was obvious who teen was going to turn out to be but was still interesting to see how it played out and how it will play out.

Though poor Sharon! Was coming along for the ride really.

Plus the song is catchy! Loved seeing Lilia and her various instruments throughout

Simonjt · 25/10/2024 18:28

We’re finally upto date on this and really enjoying it, this isn’t a spoiler, but just consider that maleficent is a fairy, not a witch 🤣

Very good acting from all, also nice to see something that isn’t relying on CGI, but going old school and using mainly real special effects.

burnoutbabe · 25/10/2024 18:38

Yes I really enjoyed the tarot episode and it was very moving at times.

2 more to go!

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 26/10/2024 14:08

Bit gutted only 2 episodes left! Loved the last one and how everything slotted together. Fab performances as well.

Everything0Everywhere · 30/10/2024 21:06

I enjoyed the latest episode (7) but found it confusing with the time jumps. I couldn't keep up! Also, Rio is Death?
