I can't really get excited about the Laver Cup - especially now that Rafa's not playing

I think it's on Eurosport/Discovery, Fizzy- I know what you mean about feeling like an exhibition, I've always thought that, it's really been a bit of a pet project for Roger and his management.

I did see some pictures on FB of team Europe togged up in black tie- quite funny. Daniil looked like a magician/ hypnotist, Casper looked a bit bemused and as if he was thinking 'did they mean to ask Jannik' (plus his jacket looke buttoned up wrong or double breasted).

Stef looked like he's already been out somewhere beforehand .

I have just switched on- and Casper seems to have taken on the Rafa role, and is down a set to Cerundolo. I really don't like the indoor dark courts, but I say that every year .

This really isn't Casper's day- I think it takes him a while to get used to indoor matches. Francisco, on the other hand, is playing very well.

On paper, Team Europe seem the stronger one, but it doesn't always work out that way.

I'm not sure, but I think 2 of Team World dropped out - De Minaur was one , Tommy Paul (?) the other- so maybe they used up the alternates when they had to fill the gaps they left.

Only Rafa dropped out late, from Team Europe.

Doesn't explain why Europe still have 2 alternates still though- and World none at all.

It always seems harder to fill 'Team World' than Europe though.

Ah that makes sense Raahh, although it suggests Rafa must have withdrawn earlier than was announced publicly.

does, doesn't it? Which is not a bad thing. I don't think he would want to deliberately let people down. It's down to the venue/ organisers that they didn't announce he had withdrawn, I suppose. And his press release thing was a bit odd.
