Has anyone seen this? I'm currently eating the Family Without Rules episode. They seem incredibly arrogant.

I watched that one once ages ago and it make me so angry! It popped up again the other night and I just had to switch off after 2 mins. The parents are irresponsible and their attitude to vaccination is just dangerous.

bakewellbride · 10/08/2024 20:44

Made!

PolaroidPrincess · 10/08/2024 20:46

They're making me so cross too. I BF mine too he I wasn't so fucking stupid naive to think it protected them from Measles.

I had a friend who thought the same and as a result neither of her kids had any vaccinations! Note the 'had'. I can't call someone like that a friend and I'm a pretty open minded person overall. It's just awful.

My DM used to be a Learning Disability Nurse so I've seen first hand the absolute wreckage done viruses can cause.

Even if you take the anti-vax big away, they are two very smug individuals and there doesn't seem to be a lot of any teaching going on. The DC seem to be attached to the IPad a fair bit.

The bit when you learn the boy can't write his own name is heartbreaking.

That was all filmed quite a few years ago now, I wonder how they are all getting on now.

bakewellbride · 10/08/2024 21:02

Yes my dh is a paramedic so I am fully versed in how horrible the illnesses are. Funny how in his ten year career he has never, ever once gone to a 'vaccine injured' patient or similar. Nor have any of his colleagues. Never.

PolaroidPrincess · 10/08/2024 21:19

I did t realise it was so old. The DM I insisted that he wouldn't get to 16 without being literate. I wonder how that worked out?

I know. I've never heard of anyone being damaged by vaccines either but I do know people who've had life long effects from Measles, me included.

Im so sorry to hear that happened to you.

I had a nosey at their face book - the unconventional parent. The stuff on their about how to 'naturally' cure the flu infuriated me and of course only the happy shiny family photos are on there so impossible to really tell how they're doing or if the kids can read, write and count.

bakewellbride · 10/08/2024 22:04

There!

PolaroidPrincess · 10/08/2024 22:28

Don't worry, I was born before the MNE so having Measles was fairly common.

One of my favourite TV series. I need to catch up on the US ones though.

MintTwirl · 10/08/2024 22:34

This episode is really old, I wonder why it’s being pushed again now because I’ve had it advertised to me a few tines this week.

The parents are annoying idiots, I also home ed and as always programmes like this always pick the most extreme examples. My kids are also vaccinated and have bedtimes!

Arcadia · 11/08/2024 09:07

Interesting that they're strongly gender critical, looking at their Facebook page.

Cattyisbatty · 11/08/2024 11:40

I’m watching it now after seeing this thread!
I wasn’t vaccinated as a child thanks to my dad, but I def went to school and had bedtimes/mealtimes.

MinnieDog · 11/08/2024 11:53

I love this show so much. This episode also infuriated me too! Such lazy parenting disguised as gentle parenting.

LittleBrenda · 11/08/2024 15:59

Stacey quite obviously couldn't stand them either.

MinnieDog · 11/08/2024 17:20

She had it written all over her face! She finds it hard to hide her feelings and I like that about her.

loropianalover · 11/08/2024 17:24

Is this the one that had a Saccone Joly’s episode? A sad watch I thought.

Yes, I found that one hard to watch too. They try so hard to appear 'normal'.

Downtoyou · 11/08/2024 17:56

I love this series!

I'm not sure? The episode I watched was the two parents who go with a bit of a novel approach to parenting where they only feed the kids if they ask for food and the rest of the time they seem to be attached to iPads.

WhyArePiratesCalledPiratessss · 13/08/2024 17:51

I'm watching now.
All parents should spend more time with their kids and noone should have to work till they are older, when parents have the spare time for working.
Utterly mad.

Also curious how the kids are doing now!

Star81 · 13/08/2024 17:58

Is this when Stacey said ‘we don’t even read from the same book or even the same library?’ when talking about their approach to how they parented - or didn’t as it really was just do what you want when you want, eat what you want when you want, sleep as and when and where you want.

if I remember correctly they don’t have much family contact either which seemed sad.

the saccone joly one was different I think as there they not the video our life all the time for social media family ??
