Anyone been to see Gladiators live

I've won tickets. They're free but the catch is they're first come first served on the day and they slighty oversubscribe so basically you may not get in.

Has anyone been to a show filming like this? Any bets on how early I actually have to be? We'd be with a 6YO. It says everyone needs to be in the queue but will she be allowed out to use the loo at least if needed?

I applied for several of the dates yesterday and have been allocated tickets today. I'd be quick though as several dates are fully booked

I went last year with my family. I think the first few days were chaotic with a lot of people not getting in, but it was more organised when I went later in the week.

You'll probably need to get there around 9am, don't get there the time it says on the ticket or it'll be too late.

When we went we barely queued about 9am, got our tickets, then we could go away for a few hours until it was time to go in. There's an arcade, restaurants etc on a retail park opposite so somewhere to hang out!

The day was brilliant, but a long day. Finished around 7.39l0/8pm. They set up each game at a time but they had radio djs keeping the crowd entertained between games. I liked watching the set ups and all the production people changing it over! My kids are older than yours so they didn't get bored but younger ones got a bit restless. You can leave your seats and go for a wander round the arena foyer in between games so you're not stuck in your seat all day.

Hope you enjoy it. I'm hoping to go again this year too.

Amazing thanks. It's a hard call to make when you have a young child coz you don't want to be stuck queueing for hours but nor do you want to treck there and build their hopes up for nothing. It's useful to have info from someone who's been and done it.

Thank you for this, and to OP for starting the thread.

We have tickets too and were wondering the same thing.

Also, if there’s a lot of waiting around how hardline are they about phones? Thinking about keeping the kids entertained in between.

ThePanda · 13/07/2024 13:24

Phones were fine last time, I took lots of photos and videos! They just didn't want you to share them publicly as not to spoil the games and winners ahead of it on tv.

Oh I applied and have heard nothing. Does that mean I haven’t been successful? 😖

I hope you have a lively time @Itslevioosanotleviosaa !

YellowRollercoaster · 13/07/2024 13:51

For hints and tips for live audiences this podcast episode was good, hosted by Marina Hyde & Richard Osman. I think they may have even talked about gladiators live shows -

I have applied for tickets too but I'm really confused
I haven't read anywhere on there that you might not get in?!
Where did you find this out??

It's a standard thing anywhere that they give out free tickets for broadcast audiences. Because the tickets are free they'll get some no-shows, and they really want a full audience so they overbook to some extent (how much depends on the show) and the last people to turn up won't get in. It's on the small print at the bottom of the ticket.
These are the BBC t&cs

(Strictly Come Dancing has finally changed this after almost twenty years because they've got quite an elderly audience but other BBC shows still overbook)

If you get the email saying you have tickets and you click on the link it’s on the tickets.

purpleme12 · 15/07/2024 09:20

Ok thanks I didn't know all this

This is a bit worrying then

I was going to go with my child. Really worried now we get there and won't be able to get in 😟😟😟

burnoutbabe · 15/07/2024 09:27

When I have done tv shows in London the people who don't get in do get priority /guaranteed) entrance for next one (assuming you arrive by x time.

TheBreezyGreenReader · 18/07/2024 18:04

Hi just wondering did they check ID for your children how strict is it, says no under 5, my daughter is nearly 5 and she would love this wondered how strict they are?

NotPennysBoat · 27/07/2024 13:15

Just resurrecting this thread as I've got tickets for next week. Anyone else who's been got any tips? I'm expecting a long day but hoping there'll be enough excitement to keep my 8yo going...?

Slewi14 · 28/07/2024 11:15

I’m going on Friday. Wondering if you can take own snacks/drinks in?

hi! Sorry to jump in here. We’ve been allocated general tickets. Do they just start allocating actual tickets when as soon as the arena opens? I can’t see a lot of information online that answers this. So once you’ve been given actual tickets you can leave and come back? Would you recommend coming back an hour before entry or earlier? My children are both absolute super-fans but also neurodivergent so I don’t want to put them through the stress and disappointment if I can help it in any way, trying to be as informed as possible. I wish we could just buy tickets ha!

We have the same issue but I’m just going to go really early and see what happens.

It does tell you online in the “more information” section what time ticket allocation starts. Unfortunately for the day we are going it hasn’t been confirmed as there are 2 recordings that day which I think is going to complicate matters 🫤

ThePanda · 29/07/2024 19:57

Hi, I think the best option is to get there as early as you can. It could mean more waiting but then you're more likely to get in!
The time on the ticket is the latest you should get there, ticket allocation is likely to be earlier. Once you have your tickets you can go and they'll tell you what time to come back for.
I think you can take in food but drinks need to be sealed.
There is a lot of waiting around even if you do get in so bear that in mind. It's a tv production rather than a show if you see what I mean.
Worth following Applause Store and Gladiators fan group on Facebook as lots of info on there and you'll get more real-time info.

TheJonesFamily · 29/07/2024 22:57

Hi All

We have been allocated 4 seats on the 12th Aug 24 for the 15:45 show slot. 2 questions if anyone can help.
My youngest would still be 4 years old due to turn 5 shortly after the showing. Are they really strict with this as I've seen children that looked younger in the bbc show at the beginning of the year.
Also we the seat allocation does anyone know if they give the tickets for the later slots in the morning or do they do this 2hrs before the show time

Any help is really appreciated as we are contemplating not going as don't want to get the boys excited for something they may not be able to see

thanks so much for your review, I can’t really see much online about the format of the day so it’s been so helpful!

We have general tickets for next week and we’re so excited! (really hope we can get in, we will get there around 10am, do you think that will be early enough to get seats?)

Also, did the gladiators engage at all, did they sign tops/posters or meet/greet? We’re planning on taking a couple of posters with us.
