Anyone been to see Gladiators live

I've won tickets. They're free but the catch is they're first come first served on the day and they slighty oversubscribe so basically you may not get in.

Has anyone been to a show filming like this? Any bets on how early I actually have to be? We'd be with a 6YO. It says everyone needs to be in the queue but will she be allowed out to use the loo at least if needed?

I applied yesterday for tickets on Saturday night. It said there was limited availability. I’ve not heard anything yet - any ideas if we’ll have a chance of getting notification now?
We’re coming down from a Scottish Island to hopefully see it live so it’s a bit of a trek and we’re trying to plan accommodation and other activities etc if we don’t get tickets! Also I added Applause Store Club to my account after I requested the tickets - any idea if this will improve our chance of getting tickets or if it’ll not work as it was after the ticket request?

Last year the Gladiators did walk around between filming the games, but just on the floor section so to get closer you'd have to be sat at the bottom of the lower tier.

Not sure if they ask for id for younger children as mine are older but it's definitely a possibility.

Not sure about timings for the day with two shows!

Still recommend checking out the facebook groups I mentioned upthread as lots of people with advice on there. When the first show happens on Thurs people will say how the day went. I'm going on Friday!

@flutterflutterby123 I hope you get tickets but think it's likely they would have emailed them to you by now if you'd got them. That's a long way for you to travel! Lots of people don't get tickets that they apply for. Seems very random.

OMG it was ACE!!!

It is a long ass day though so be prepared. Take snacks. Lots of them. When mine started flagging I handed them a bag of party rings and it helped.

We got there just before 8 and got tickets with minimal queueing, but then had a good few hours to kill. We left as soon as the second Eliminator was done (our seats wouldn’t be seen from where they were doing the interviews, so it was fine, not sure if we’d have been allowed if we were at the other end) but that was 9pm. Our seats were brilliant too (second row) so I think it was worth the early start.

I thought we could go and have breakfast or something over the road (there’s a retail park thingy there, with a cinema and bowling/arcade) but nowhere opened until at least 10.30, although Burger King were doing drinks only and let us have a wee. If you wander a bit further there’s a McDs and a Greggs but they were packed. I think a lot of people went to Meadowhall.

It goes really fast though, the compere people are great at keeping you entertained. The foam fingers are £10 each. If that’s out of budget make sure you make a banner - we cba with banners, intending to just get the fingers and ours both really wished they had.

It says no rucksacks but they didn’t seem especially arsed. They asked everyone for ID though so make sure you have it.

On the way back to the car, my youngest, despite being absolutely wiped out, said it had been the best day of her life. 😍

I love it when people come back and take the time to review how it went, thanks Jengnr
It sounds like a great day out, its such a great family show so nice to hear seeing it live is really fun too.
£10 for foam fingers though...!

Update; It was our turn yesterday. We LOVED it. It was a really long day. We were in the arena from 12 until almost 9pm. However it is all much more relaxed than you'd expect. You can pretty much enter and leave whenever you feel like it. They were occasionally asking parts of the audience to not wander if they were in camera shot but otherwise you could dip in and out even during the games. It's seriously fun to watch how it's done and see the gladiators and games in real time and there's entertainers running games etc to keep you amused whilst there's set changes. My only word of caution would be that you'll only see the gladiators competing that episode. Giant wasn't there at all yesterday. Luckily my dd isn't a superfan of any of them in particular but there were some sunken faces when people realised he wasn't there.

Collecting the tickets was surprisingly smooth. We arrived at about half 8, were given 1st tier tickets and were in Meadowhall having breakfast by 9.

On that note I'd recommend going to Meadowhall to stretch your legs and eat before the show. You can either drive there and bring your car back to the stadium if you've paid to park or hop on the tram. If you go to the Oasis food court there's a lovely outdoor playground just outside this area that kids can stretch their legs on too.

It's £10 to park at the stadium and generally stress free. I'd recommend getting out of there promptly though as I bet it can be a nightmare to get out of once the show has finished. We rushed out just as they were filming closing links after the eliminator and narrowly avoided a huge queue

It really was a nice and not stressful experience even with a young child. If you're considering it then go for it.

Not been to Gladiators but we’ve been to The Chase (celebrity) and Beat the Chasers which is a similar free tickets and queue system
If you don’t get in the show you automatically get access to the next one

We were put in the 2nd row because we were both in dark clothes they didn’t want bright colours when the camera scans the audience. So really near the action

Is it still Bradders’n’Barnes?
