They'd yet again f's up my Coronation Street, yet again!!!

We were short-changed last week as well.

IMO, ITV wants to bite of the hand that feeds it

Disgusting scheduling!!

I don't think ITV have much say in the scheduling of major international tournaments, or any TV channels in fact. I think calling being slightly inconvenienced by your TV show being on at a different time for a few weeks 'disgusting' is a bit extreme. Will you have the same reaction to the Olympics?

NoDishyRishi · 13/06/2024 20:19

Yay more football please (or darts, snooker and tennis). I suspect you'll find that soaps are disrupted over the next month for the Euros, as rightly they should be.

Clearly amazing live sport takes precedence over a prerecorded soap opera.

Roll on the Olympics...

tillyandmilly · 13/06/2024 20:20

I am with the poster should keep this football on the sport channel!

NoDishyRishi · 13/06/2024 20:21

Forgot to add when I was growing up ITV was deemed common unless it was live sport...

NellyTimes · 13/06/2024 20:39

Soaps are on every day all year round, I'm sure you'll survive a few weeks with them being on at a different time. Football fans are allowed to watch what they enjoy as well, soap fans don't own the TV schedule.

Why should we always have to pay extra to watch what we enjoy though? I pay my TV license as much as you do, so why shouldn't I be allowed to watch football for no additional charge? Would you be happy if all the soaps were only available on Sky so you had to pay extra?

I love football and I have no problem with it being on ITV but there is no reason why it couldn't be on itv4.
Or there is no reason why they can't put coronation Street on itv4 at the normal time.

Corrie averages around 2.5m viewers these days. The Euros matches will generally get significantly higher figures than that, hence why ITV and the BBC want them on their main channels.

That's fine, but there is no reason why they can't put Corrie on ITV2, 3 or 4 at its usual time as well.

30 million watched the last men's final, a lot more than would ever watch a pre recorded soap opera.

Teasall · 14/06/2024 00:38

I live and care for my bed-bound mum, whom has age related dementia, the changes to the schedule really make it more difficult than it already is .... plus I really hate fucking football so I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks.

Teasall · 14/06/2024 00:41

And the elections bollocks to boot ... and the weather .... things are not exactly peachy at the moment.

Everygrain · 14/06/2024 06:25

Do they not put it on ITVx each day like BBC put Eastenders on iPlayer at 6am, I find this much better as I can watch when I want.

Yes, Coronation Street averaged 2.6m viewers per episode in 2023, Emmerdale averaged 1.9m.

For comparison, at the last Euros even matches not involving the home nations generally averaged over 5m viewers. When one of the home nations were playing, it would go above 10m, and latter stage matches involving England would be above 20m.

There isn't really anything on TV these days outside of big royal events that gets anywhere close to the viewing figures of a mens international football tournament so TV companies are always going to put them front and centre.

Thanks but I is shocked!!

Are these "averages" for those that watched via streaming, on the hour plus and those that recorded it included as we always record to skip the crap adverts!!

ilovesooty · 14/06/2024 09:39

The Euros are only on every couple of years and the contracts for live scheduling are agreed ages in advance. They don't take into account smaller numbers of people watching soaps.

Noosnom · 14/06/2024 09:43

Football is only on every 2 years.

The Soaps are 3 days a week.

Noosnom · 14/06/2024 09:44

Correction, football is every year as men's and womens alternate. But once a year is less than the Soaps.

Bonjovispjs · 14/06/2024 09:59

BBC are putting Eastenders on BBC2 at its usual time, don't know why ITV can't do something similar? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Indeed!!

ITV imo feel that sopa fans will just keeping on watching the spaos no matter how the soap fans are treated - a bit like those that will just vote labour/tory just because their grandparents did

why not say fucking football op?
I wish the people who schedule all this sport would realise that not everyone likes football.

Just people who watched live in both cases.
