Part of the big Eastenders mystery of how do they afford to live their when they don’t work/how do so many people live in the house/so they own the house/how can they afford to drink in the vic every day…and so on 😂. I just remembered she did try to have lodgers in haha

Cindy and Junior, beyond sordid. Also a bit explicit for 7.30pm, but then I am an old prude. She looks older than him I think. Really bad actress, even Linda's frown lines are more expressive.

A couple of things I want to mention:

• Didn't Reiss and Sonia agree to keep their engagement on the down low until at least after Debbie's funeral? How has it all suddenly become public knowledge?

• I'm a huge fan of the actress Kellie Bright (Linda), but I can't get over how different she looks without make up on 😳 I mean, I had never noticed those forehead wrinkles before. It has aged her beyond belief in my eyes 😕

Didn’t Sonia have an inheritance tax bill? Maybe that’s as much as a mortgage would cost so that’s why they’re skint?

Reiss found Sonia a ' loophole' to her tax inheritance bill and she didn't have to sell the house in the end .
Actually, it was correct as many of us on here discovered ! The writers had done their homework on that one and Reiss stayed on..

I think it might be linked to the fact that Sonia was already living in the house when Dot died?

There's a cap on inheritance tax for family members I think. But Sonia's house would be worth far more than the cap so she would have to pay.

It was something to do with Sonia living in the house when she died. She didn't have to pay the tax bill

The whole Sonia and Reiss thing is making me feel more and more queasy.
I think the character of Bernie is currently being rewritten. I don’t think she’d be coerced into writing poison pen letters

I do remember Bernie stealing a camera once ( why or how I'm not sure ?) she has a dark side

Sonia got a bill for almost £200K for the inheritance tax and did some handwringing about whether she should sell the house or not to pay the bill. I don't know if the loophole Reiss found for her exists in reality because I've always understood that everyone apart from spouses or civil partners has to pay this tax. I guess it was a plot device so Sonia could stay in the house / square.

All I know is that if you leave a property to child or grandchild then the threshold to pay IHT goes up to £500,000. I would think that house is worth more than that.

And Sonia is a step grandchild

As I said I am very behind with episodes…but I just saw the one where she did get an estate agent in and Sonia just so oh no I won’t sell because he pointed out the the new owners would (obviously) modernise. Guess she wants to keep it as a shrine to Dot so the only other option was murder 😂. Good old Eastenders haha. Or couldn’t they have got a couple of lodgers in - tried again with that?!

Brenda has similar eyes to my godmother. Except my godmother's always shine kindly and somewhat like she could well up at any moment.. Watching Brenda is like watching what she would be like as a psychotic nut job, it's really quite disturbing for me!

I do recall Reiss telling Sonia about the inheritance tax loophole , but what he actually said I can't remember! Something about it being her main residence or something?? Some rule or another ?

I don't think that Bernie would rationally send poison pen letters. But she's been working out Linda is unravelling, and combined with Dean saying he had nothing to do with the murder, she knows there's something major that is being hidden. Two of her siblings have been murdered so she's understandable (sort of) that she's not behaving normally.

And seriously, Reiss can fuck off. It's the most ridiculous and utterly tedious storyline, with the most boring character.

She was married to his dad and is closer to his age than Junior's. Their real ages are 46 and 62, so I assume the characters are similar ages too.
