Has anyone watched this? If so I wonder what you thought.

I dont think the Disney synopsis gives the right impression

Its more like Homeland mixed with Lara Croft.

International cast and maybe more familiar names such as James Purefoy and Josh Charles.

Any good?

SoupDragon · 03/06/2024 17:38

I looked at the description last night and wasn't sure whether to watch it or not. I might give it a go.

Any good?

I avoided saying as I didn't want to influence.

And I know my tastes aren't every bodies.

Developed by same person as produced Peaky Blinders.

So may depend whether you liked that series or not.

Hmmm... I've watched a total of about 5 minutes of Peaky Blinders during which someone was beaten to a pulp and then crucified 😂 I decided it wasn't for me.

My main problem is that I think Elizabeth Moss as an actress has shown she can do just about any character! And has picked some interesting roles, plot lines etc..

This seemed more like the start of some franchise, like Reacher (or whever the curent super hero is).

Spoilers ahead in next paragrah!

I thought it was more like Homeland ie a female agent at odds with bosses, but of course admired - and erm "interesting" sex life.

Was just surprised she made this, and was one of the producers.

But if you like continent crossing secret agent plot line, double bluffs, and hostile Franco American relationships, it is relatively easy listening. And yes does have violence but not in a revelling in the gore type.

I watched the first episode and it was OK. Bit odd but intriguing. I'll probably end up watching it all I think.

IwantToRetire · 04/06/2024 18:12

Bit odd - yes that's probably why I didn't quite get it.

But would be interested to hear what you think by the end.

It was watchable and I did enjoy the relationship building between Imogen and Adilah while not being totally sure If she was a baddie.
I like Elizabeth Moss but she wasn't believable as this amazing secret agent but then it was all a bit cliche with the characters and storyline, which was a shame as it was good to have female leads in that type of drama.
There was a lot that felt it like had been poorly thought out or didn't make sense to me but I don't want to give spoilers if others haven't finished yet.

CrossPurposes · 04/06/2024 23:28

Does Elisabeth Moss channel Gillian Anderson throughout the series? Because the accent is hard to handle so far.

DragonTrainor · 08/07/2025 10:57

I've just started watching

Anyone else?

martha4clark · 18/08/2025 23:17

I thought it was dire. The plot was so full of holes. Elizabeth Moss’s accent was terrible. I have really liked her as an actress before, but felt she overacted, and some of her facial expressions were so ridiculous.
The actress playing Adilla was very good though. But why did they need her to mastermind the ship bomb plot? And was that detonator put together in the English mansion meant to somehow trigger the bomb off the coast of America?

I’m watching it at the moment so won’t comment or read this thread til I have viewed all episodes of it.

Hi - have seen this old thread about the Veil has been revived. It was set up when the series was first shown on Disnen(?).

There is a current thread for it being shown on C4 at tv pace. Not sure how well that is being used. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/telly_addicts/5373118-the-veil-sat-9pm-ch4-tv-pace-no-spoilers?page=1

Not saying dont comment, just thought I would point this out.

Okay?

Thank you @IwantToRetire
I’m on the other thread too. I like to get all your opinions/insights 😀

BabyCatFace · 19/08/2025 16:48

It was crap. It could have been good but Elizabeth Moss' accent was poor and the ending was absurd. The posh English spy in his country pile was a ridiculous cliche and the dad reveal at the end was stupid. We gave up halfway through the final episode! I only dragged myself back to finish it for the sake of closure.
