Recently rewatched cracker and still loved it. Unfortunately wire in the blood doesn't seem to have aged well.

Any others? I used to love this genre but haven't kept up too much. I have seen Hannibal, Dexter, the sixth commandment amongst others.

The Fall is brilliant. I've also just finished The Suspect which was very good!

dothehokeycokey · 01/06/2024 17:12

Dexter

GrouchyKiwi · 01/06/2024 17:15

Criminal Minds.

Dexter was good for a few seasons and then went rapidly downhill.

I loved Wire in the Blood too, so I'm sad to hear it hasn't aged well.

Happy Valley

With the wire in the blood, it was pretty cringy in parts, also the detective woman was so arsey all the time for no reason, it was just a bit amateurish.

Blue murder with Caroline Quenton.

WaterDroplet · 01/06/2024 17:35

I'm fascinated by serial killers, especially 'product killers' (those who didnt like sadism, and killed to obtain a body) like Nilsen and Dahmer.

For that reason, David Tennent in the Nilsen drama and Evan Peters in the most resent Dahmer drama were fantastic.

The Blacklist

sprigatito · 01/06/2024 17:59

The Commander with Amanda Burton is underrated.

Tristar15 · 01/06/2024 18:02

Highly recommended lots of the Scandi Noirs:

The Killing - original Danish is fab
The Bridge - probably my favourite

to name a couple

0ellenbrody0 · 01/06/2024 18:04

Trial and Retribution?
I also like Vera and Shetland, not serial killer - ‘just’ murder!

TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyHusband · 01/06/2024 18:04

Mind hunter on Netflix

Whenyoupickapawpaw · 01/06/2024 18:07

Unforgotten is a great detective series involving historic murders/serial killings

ASighMadeOfStone · 01/06/2024 18:08

Oldie but goodie:
Messiah written by Boris Starling was televised and was excellent.
The Bridge obviously though The Killing just dragged on, and The Fall was also a series too long and Gillian Anderson was peculiar in it.
The old Prime Suspects are good.

LiterallyOnFire · 01/06/2024 18:11

It's non-fiction but it's definitely drama; The Jinx. Second season is currently on Sky documentaries channel.

Yiayoula · 01/06/2024 18:14

The Chestnut Man (on Netflix) is excellent.

Grendacious · 01/06/2024 18:17

The Bridge
Cardinal
Jonathan Creek

I also rewatched recently and just got to season 4 where Carole Jordan is gone.

He is an annoying chap.
Cracker aged better. Not sure I want to try prine suspect again.

I did enjoy above suspicion-3 seasons of that are on itv x

TheTempest · 01/06/2024 18:23

I loved Bones (more about the aftermath but it’s great!), Castle, the Mentalist. Following with interest as I love true crime podcasts but can’t seem to get into programmes about True crime for some reason.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/06/2024 19:00

Whitechapel

Steve Pemberton plays a Ripperologist
Shaun Evans is in one episode
Rupert Penry Jones not a nice character but you grow to respect him if not like him.

Watched it at least 4 times

Mrsdht · 01/06/2024 19:07

I'm busy rewatching dexter right now. Love it. How to get away with murder was a good one.

Loved Whitechapel. Cracker. Wire in the blood. Vera. Castle. The chestnut man. The alienist

Pixiesgirl · 01/06/2024 20:55

I kind of hate sherlock related stuff tbh.

"The Killing" first series was brilliant but it did get a bit 'suspect of the week'.

'Peculiar' is a good word for Gillian Anderson in 'The Fall'. She wasn't at all convincing as a senior detective, especially traipsing around crime scenes in high heels and silk shirts. The Margaret Thatcher voice didn't help either.

ManilowBarry · 01/06/2024 21:36

It used to be in YouTube but I can't find it now but Code of a Killer is excellent.
